The Storm
1/30/2023

Daily Devotions:
by Christina Farris

Luke 8:22-25 KJV
22 Now it came to pass on a certain day, that he went into a ship with his disciples: and he said unto them, Let us go over unto the other side of the lake. And they launched forth.
23 But as they sailed he fell asleep: and there came down a storm of wind on the lake; and they were filled with water, and were in jeopardy.
24 And they came to him, and awoke him, saying, Master, master, we perish. Then he arose, and rebuked the wind and the raging of the water: and they ceased, and there was a calm.
25 And he said unto them, Where is your faith? And they being afraid wondered, saying one to another, What manner of man is this! for he commandeth even the winds and water, and they obey him.

Jesus rebukes the wind and He ask where is your faith? My question to you do you seek Jesus before the storm or during the storm when you know you are about to drown. I sure the storm was seeable in the sky and yet they set off to the otherside of the sea. Never considering the storm would effect them after all Jesus said go to the otherside. Jesus never left the boat in fact he was napping, yet was is clear he even was resting with all the noisy of those struggling in the storm trying to get water out of the boat. I wonder how much they had thrown overboard when they woke Jesus. Their fear of dying was so real, they had to wake Jesus. At this point the knowledge that Jesus could rebuke the winds and the rain was not know. The power of healing was very clear to the disciples. When the storm came Jesus was sleeping. Resting in the storm, not concern of what laid ahead. When awaken Jesus rebukes that wind and the rain. Jesus wanted to know where their faith was, because they thought they were about to die.

Jesus commanded the wind and the rain to cease, and they wonder about this man that could control the wind and the rain. Are we seeing who is in control in the storm. Jesus ability to save, deliver and cease the storm. Jesus wants to calm our storms. He wants to help us in our time of fear. He only waiting for us to pray. He is able to do the impossible. Yet do we pray with faith that he is able? Take our concerns whatever they maybe in the storm knowing he is able to do more then we even ask.

Dear Heavenly Father, in time of storms let us go quickly to your throne seeing the salvation of our Lord Savior Jesus Christ to deliver us in the storm. In Jesus precious name amen.

Continual Scripture Study: Ephesians 3:14-21 KJV
14 For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,
15 Of whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named,
16 That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man;
17 That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love,
18 May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height;
19 And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God.
20 Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us,
21 Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen.
