turtle30cshell Daily Devotions For January 29, 2023
Who Is Your Family
1/29/2023

Daily Devotions:
by Christina Farris

Luke 8:19-21 KJV
19 Then came to him his mother and his brethren, and could not come at him for the press.
20 And it was told him by certain which said, Thy mother and thy brethren stand without, desiring to see thee.
21 And he answered and said unto them, My mother and my brethren are these which hear the word of God, and do it.

Who is your family? Think for a moment? Often we are surrounded by people in our world even if they are on the outside of where we are living or even staying. Meaning walk far enough you can find a crowd of people, even in the wilderness. It hard to imagine land with only woods for miles and miles without a neighbor in our world today. Yet there is still woodland and acres of land both farming and desert owned by our nation. To stand in the middle of no where is still possible in the world, but nine times out of ten if you reading this devotion unless someone printed it off, you are still somewhere where civilization at least begins and people are not so far away even if it several miles. Where is your family? If we are all descendants as believers believe from Adam and Eve where is your family. They are all around you if one could trace their roots far enough back to reach all living souls interconnected from at the minimum at least Noah and his family. That is a lot of tracing of roots and impossible to now do, but dna evidence will declare all of interconnected in someway even if not nearest kin. If I am overseas I run into another american in a land where few americans are living would I tell the person your family come on by for a meal at the minimum coffee? This is the thing when we meet someone like ourselves we often connect and invite them for coffee. Even if you don't drink coffee but some other beverage you sitting to a table to chat and getting to know each other or catching up on news from america. Sometimes what we learn it best never to catch up. Yet are these people strangers or acquaintances in our culture. Maybe friends, but do we consider them family?

Jesus was in crowd of people, being swarmed by the crowd and he is told that his mother and siblings are here to see him. They could not come to where he was because of all the people. He uses it for teaching by saying all those that do what hear the word and do it. It not the one that bore me, not the siblings I was raised with but all that hear the word of God and do it. This is teaching a kingdom lesson.

When we receive Jesus as Lord of our life, we become joint heirs with Jesus. Not only joint heirs, but people of faith, people adopted by God as his children. It more of a groom taking his bride(the church) to his Father, and saying receive this woman to be your now daughter? He says yes I will. Father now accepting the bride as part of the family. As sons and daughters on the throne. We see the royals in other countries when they marry their spouse is royalty but never gains power of the throne even if one's mate is dead. Why because the royal blood does not flow in the veins of the one in power, yet while they are in the palace they have all the advantages of being a royal. In God's family no one but him as ultimate power, only the triune godhead(Father, Son and Holy Spirit). Yet we might teach with the authority of a god and not be God, because his word itself has authority in the life of all the receive and believe it, including to the one that teaches and obeys it. We are royalty in God's kingdom not because of teaching but because of spiritual birth through Christ Jesus. We all are part of the kingdom as children of God but no one having more rank then another. Yet there is position of authority because of leadership, to teach and lead those coming up to do likewise. Jesus washed the disciples feet, showing them he to had to serve them, and not just serve, but not to be lord over them in his power, but to be a fellow kinsmen, as a brother. Christ equality to man only comes with his flesh and not his power. HIs power being because of who he was, not because of his humanity. We have no power on earth but what we physically capable of doing. Yet God's power upon salvation runs through our veins, the HOly Spirit who seals us lives with in our heart to transform our souls into children of the kingdom, to teach, to dine within our heart with our soul. When a minister claims he will heal you, he has no power to heal. He can only pray and do the will of God by teaching the word that must still be taken into the heart to be a person of faith.

When a minister not only hears or sees what he reading and does it then he doing the will of God like every born again believer. However humanity is we often hears but not doers, why because people fail to make the connection between what is taught and what one should do. The words what would Jesus do when faced with a problem really needs to be rolling off one lips, or when in any situation good or bad, these words of what would Jesus do needs to be coursing through our veins. Not the words is that in the Bible, but we need to study and know what in the Bible so we know what Jesus would do even in our changing technical world of even electronics.

If we learn to walk by the Spirit of God the word of God only is echo of what God's Spirit says do. Cain need a lesson on obedience to the Spirit of God, but he chose his own pathway of disobedience to God. Are you a child of God if you live for yourself and not to help others. Are you a child of the king if all you want to do is hurt people. The answer is are you human, with human fralaties? Will we has believers make mistakes? Then I going to ask what is strive and what is your aim as a believer in Jesus. People trying to pay their bills and can not are not people not trying to live up their contracts of bills. Is your strive to pay your bills on time? Is you strive to help people still in your heart and mind, even when you can not? Some would say good intentions mean little but in reality, God sees your heart and knows your human intentions toward another. It not the I desire with can't it the desire of can't and won't that God is looking at the believer as not his children or family.

Do you want to be a child of God and care about those around you. It almost sounds like signing up for military with the campaign do you want to be all you can be in the army. Well in God's army and family it is will you be all God wants you to be in his family, will you allow him to strength, enable you to be all he intends you to be, by obey his word to the best of yours and his ability within you? Then stop thinking two loaves and a few fish is not enough to feed a crowd. God is able to multiply your inability to make it your ability.

Dear Heavenly Father, help us to know we are a child of the king as believers, part of the family of God as joint heirs with Jesus. Help us to do your will which is never in our ability but in your strength in our life. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

Continual Scripture Study: Romans 8:14-17 KJV
14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.
15 For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.
16 The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:
17 And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.
