Must Be Born Again! 1/13/2023
Daily Devotions: by Christina FarrisJohn 3:1-21 KJV
1 There was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews:
2 The same came to Jesus by night, and said unto him, Rabbi, we know that thou art a teacher come from God: for no man can do these miracles that thou doest, except God be with him.
3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.
4 Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother's womb, and be born?
5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.
6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.
7 Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.
8 The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit.
9 Nicodemus answered and said unto him, How can these things be?
10 Jesus answered and said unto him, Art thou a master of Israel, and knowest not these things?
11 Verily, verily, I say unto thee, We speak that we do know, and testify that we have seen; and ye receive not our witness.
12 If I have told you earthly things, and ye believe not, how shall ye believe, if I tell you of heavenly things?
13 And no man hath ascended up to heaven, but he that came down from heaven, even the Son of man which is in heaven.
14 And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up:
15 That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life. 16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
19 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.
20 For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.
21 But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.
NIcodemus was a Pharisee that came to Jesus by night. He understood one thing that most people understand and recognize Jesus as being and that is a teacher whether they believe from God or not. Nicodemus believed Jesus was a teacher and from God because of miracles. Jesus seems to understand his thoughts or question before he even ask and start this discourse with Nicodemus. He told him, he must be born again? Nicodemus wanted to know how he could enter his mother's womb a second time. Jesus said man must be born water and of spirit. Man can not enter again his mother womb but could be born of God's Spirit. Man must be flesh and Spirit. One must be born again of God's Spirit to be saved.
Nicodemus asked how can it be born of the Spirit and Jesus answer you a teacher know not these things and yet you teach what you do not know? Stop right there meaning to be born of Spirit has always been even in the time before Christ. The laws of faith have been destroying faith, by lack of understanding, meaning the thou shalt not that thou shall do had become a task master and not a time of belief because law pointed out the imperfection of man and the need of God. Law was to be lived by, but not to the point God was left behind. Legalism without faith is what Jesus is speaking of. Legalism of I obey but I do not believe. Israel obeyed Moses but at times had no belief. When Moses lifted up the serpent it was the point man had finally believed they need to go to God and requested Moses to pray on their behalf. God told Moses to erect the brazen serpent up in the wilderness and anyone looking to it would be saved from a deadly bite. Metafore for looking at Moses who could not save Israel himself only bear witness of who God was to the people. Jesus was more then Moses because he would be the very word of God in the flesh and Spirit. That all that would look to Jesus would be saved.
Powerful words to know anyone can look to a minister in hope to find faith, but Jesus is the only minister because of who he was the Only begotten Son that could bring about salvation for eternity. Jesus was the word of God before his birth, and his Spirit of Prophecy after his ascension into heaven. God did not send his Son to condemn the world but through him man could be saved if they believed on him. God gave the very essence of his word in the flesh to man, to see him not as the prophet or teach, but the Messiah chosen to carry the cross of teacher, preacher, friend, miracle worker, and standing his ground in the Temple, by obedience to God in the insurrection. Then paying the price for obeying God by going to the cross of human law. God not saving man from human law but allowing him to suffer and die to face endless life in eternity with him. As Christ died for our sins he became the propiator/lawyer for our sins. His blood covering all our sins even our the sins caused by humanity.
Our fight is against the evil of this world, the evil that destroys mankind. The evil that tries to separate man from God. and God from man. God gave his Son not to separate us from his love but to join us to his love. When we see the work of Christ through miracles, his teaching and wonders, God is planting his love in our heart. It does not exempt us from the death of the unborn, the death of spouse, the death of a love one, and/or the pain of human existence in times of storms and so forth. Somethings must in time be accepted as the will of God for his purpose in glory. Think of the most horrific acts of death and hardship people have in life searching for that love of God within it and in truth it is not the love of the horrific acts, but the compassion of humanity that demonstrates God's love during these times of grief and hardship that tells us that their is a God beyond our pain in life and His will and desire is better then our own at the present. Christ facing a punishment not deserving by God but by man. If we can ever separate man's wrath from God's wrath there is too different things. HIs correction different then man's correction. Man's correction is like a whip, and God's correction is like a shepherd hook guiding us onto the right pathway when we stray.
A minister I recognized came up to me in the gym and spoke to me. I told him something shocking. It is a sad day when a gym is more compassionate then the church world in the since of judgment. I am almost certain the man from some distance away knew not that I recognized him. However I don't doubt he had business in our area, besides coming in contact with me. He soon left after he finished his walk. Did I feel I had scored, no. I have found some churches to be very loving on the inside of them and lacking on the outside of them. Some seeing the altar knowing they have had to go to the altar as well, leaving it all into God's hands. While others condemn and judge without knowledge of God. I thank God he sees my heart and my soul, and man can not. When you see evil in government and evil in the land it breaks the heart. To know corruption is of man and not of God means it has no place in heaven or our eternal home of the New Jerusalem. To know we our set free from sin upon repentance and receiving Jesus Christ as Lord enables us to know we no longer condemned but our goals are changed to taking up our cross and following after the ways of Christ.
If there anyone reading that needs to be saved, may they pray; Dear Heavenly Father, I repent of my sins, and ask Jesus to come into my heart and be Lord of my life. In Jesus precious name Amen. Praise God because He has set your free of sin if you were sincere in your heart when you prayed the prayer above.
Dear Heavenly Father help those who prayed this prayer to be saved to live for you because you sent your only Son to be the Savior or our sins. In Jesus precious name, Amen. Continual Scripture Study: Romans 10:9-13 KJV
9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
11 For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.
12 For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him.
13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
