Testify To The Priesthood By The Law
1/12/2023

Daily Devotions:
by Christina Farris

Luke 5:12-16 KJV
12 And it came to pass, when he was in a certain city, behold a man full of leprosy: who seeing Jesus fell on his face, and besought him, saying, Lord, if thou wilt, thou canst make me clean.
13 And he put forth his hand, and touched him, saying, I will: be thou clean. And immediately the leprosy departed from him.
14 And he charged him to tell no man: but go, and shew thyself to the priest, and offer for thy cleansing, according as Moses commanded, for a testimony unto them.
15 But so much the more went there a fame abroad of him: and great multitudes came together to hear, and to be healed by him of their infirmities.
16 And he withdrew himself into the wilderness, and prayed.

Jesus came to take away the law of sin and death but did not remove the laws of Moses. Here is a leper in need of healing, received his healing and Jesus sends him where to the priest to offering for cleansing require according tot he laws of Moses and keyword and a testimony to who the Priesthood. Jesus was not trying to oppose the Priesthood at this time. Yet many in society try and oppose the laws of Moses that are Christians and say we are not under the law of Moses but of the law of the free. Does this make much sense to you. Two things The Temple was God the Father's house. Two it was the place of worship and sacrificing to God the Father. Jesus never came to remove God the Father from his position. This is important for several reason worship happened under the stars by Abraham, Jacob, and even Noah. David danced before the ark in his day. Yet the Temple was God's house, a place for him to dwell at all times in the land of Israel. Jesus did not move into the Temple, though he taught and healed in the Temple.

The laws are important part of society of the Jewish people, their own laws subject to Roman law though because of government demands. Yet the people still followed the religious laws of their people. Jesus was removing the law, what laws was he really removing, not the laws retaining to faith but the laws of sin, He was dying to replace the sin of law and death. The law established before Adam if man ate from the tree of knowledge of good and evil. Did God remove the knowledge of good and evil with Jesus, no but he establish the law within the believers heart not to sin against God. Biggest sin is unbelief, or blasphyme of the Holy Spirit. God gave us the power to retain belief about salvation and redeemption from our sins. Without belief you can not be saved, without understand God was setting up his plan through Jesus/word that seemed to have been left behind because of unbelief.

This leper was to fullfill the laws of faith to testify to the men of faith that read the laws, and proclaimed the laws. He was giving them opportunity to see the power of God not in just this leper, but in many people he healed. Showing them the power of their God and yet they still believe not. Why because they understood not who Jesus ought to be at this time. Tomorrow lesson we be looking at John 3 of a scribe that would be saved in time name Nicodemus. Not all the religious leaders were without faith. Jesus was asking leaders to give up traditions not of God and follow in his footsteps, to seek God through faith and not sacrifice/ the law. Hard step for any religious leader stuck in legalism.

This story is about the Leper to go and testify. And so he would of obey Jesus and followed the law. We do not know what happened that day, but we know the Leper was cleansed from his leprosy. We know he went probably rejoicing that Jesus made him whole. Know doubt he worship God that day through the sacrificial laws. All he did was cry out to Jesus for healing and Jesus stopped and healed him. The crowds of people were beginning to follow Jesus at this time because of healing from incurable diseases like leprosy. It is a testimony of incurable becoming curable.

Dear Heavenly Father remind us your laws of faith are important, the law of belief. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

Continual Scripture Study: Matthew 23:23 KJV
23 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye pay tithe of mint and anise and cummin, and have omitted the weightier matters of the law, judgment, mercy, and faith: these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone.
