Only Ten 2/17/2023
Daily Devotions: by Christina FarrisLuke 17:11-19 KJV
11 And it came to pass, as he went to Jerusalem, that he passed through the midst of Samaria and Galilee.
12 And as he entered into a certain village, there met him ten men that were lepers, which stood afar off:
13 And they lifted up their voices, and said, Jesus, Master, have mercy on us.
14 And when he saw them, he said unto them, Go shew yourselves unto the priests. And it came to pass, that, as they went, they were cleansed.
15 And one of them, when he saw that he was healed, turned back, and with a loud voice glorified God,
16 And fell down on his face at his feet, giving him thanks: and he was a Samaritan.
17 And Jesus answering said, Were there not ten cleansed? but where are the nine?
18 There are not found that returned to give glory to God, save this stranger.
19 And he said unto him, Arise, go thy way: thy faith hath made thee whole.
Account in Luke before the passover week. Last journey before passion week, Luke is the only one to record this event. However Luke being a doctor it only reason why he would record it. We live in world where one miracle is a blessing what is ten miracles. Should people sick in body come to church for healing? Should people stand on the outside for healing? Should people today's world use common sense when it comes to disease. There two mindsets on disease total separation and the other throw a party and see who else becomes sick. During the heighth of the pandemic eveyone of us that got sick were quarantine. Some obeying and others not caring. What is the point? Leprosy was a crippling illness at one time. Today it is a curable if treated early enough. There is treatment and it an old disease. Common cold is a disease that is as old as dirt probably, and yet, most of us have had the common cold and lived to tell it. Common cold is not so easily fought today with infections that can come because of simple virus infection. Yet it still fairly treatable. It is a disease that will usually pass with time. Healthy people able to fight it off and even catch it and recover in a few days or even a few weeks. Bodies immune system really fighting all sorts of ailments even without anyone knowing it. Leprosy once caught caused separation from the world. Here these ten lepers some distance off spoke up and asked Jesus for healing. Jesus told them to go show themselves to the Priest. Jesus did not touch them, they came not near, but as they left and went toward either synagogue or even Jerusalem to show themselves to the Priest, the leprosy left their bodies. They became healed on their journey. One leper turned back and ran to Jesus, and knelt down and glorified God.
Did this one leper who was a Samaritan understand Jesus was the Great High Priest that was to come. Did he understand Jesus was God. All we know is Samaritan worshipped Jesus. We know Jesus did not stop him from bowing at his feet and worshipping God. We do know he was the only one to return that was recorded returning. His faith of going toward the Priesthood, and yet he returns to the Priesthood of the New Covenant that was coming because of the cross of Jesus. Jesus is the christian believers High Priest. Jesus' ministry was to all people both Jews and Gentiles. Yet he not called a Priest yet in scripture. In fact the reference of High Priest will not come until really Hebrews. Yet Jesus was and was the man's High Priest for he was Samaritan and he had no teacher in Jerusalem or even a local synagogue to show himself too. Samaritans were outcast of Israel. Not only was he outcast by leprosy but he because he was a Samaritan, and God healed him. Yet he return to worship his healer. God had healed him. He did not claim verbally Jesus was God necessarily here, there is a fine line here that can be interpret that He seen Jesus as God. I was healed in church. I never see my pastor as Jesus only obedient to God, Christ and the Holy Spirit. I was not member of the church but I knew to praise God for my healing.
I do not share my story to boast of my healing, because alot of believers are healed and yet some still suffer with disease not because of unbelief, but it not their time and perhaps that enough knowing it not God's timing yet. Yet for this leper in scripture it was enough to be healed. To return to praise God. As my husband had another rough night last night sleeping because of pain, I only reminded how many nights I struggled in pain and he was right beside me. He had chronic pain for over 19 years. Right now it is at its worse. How does one deal with watching a love one suffer. I tell you how it is not easy. If I could change places for a moment in time I would probably do so. This is from my heart. Do you think those who are healed from something that was effecting their bodies tremendously do not wonder what taking God so long to heal others? Trust me you are sadly mistaken. To accept God's will in both one's own life and the life another love one's life, is a part of faith. To watch children suffer because of disease is hard for parents. To see people injured to no fault of their own and never fully recover takes understanding that day of healing of those in faith is going to be glorious if they are not healed on this side of heaven but in paradise after Christ coming. When I think of the rapture of the church, I am thinking on these things of Christ healing all of us like he did ten lepers. Eternity of Christ return is not only a glorious reunion but a glorious time to be alive and healed. Who not going to shout. Who not going to dance and sing. Even if you are not a dancer or a singer now, or even a shouter, you will be on that day.
You want to go to that party then you got to be saved. Need to ask Jesus into your heart and he will save you from your sins and from an eternity in eternal lake of fire that hell is thrown into. Those that are raptured in the final resurrection will face eternal death, those that alive with the first resurrection will live with Jesus for eternity and God in the Holy City according to Revelations chapters 20-22. The believers celebration is coming, and it going to be one party of rejoicing never seen on earth. See some Christians have been attending camp meets and Christian concerts for years, it going to be even better. A simple church singing is not going to compare to this Hallellujah chorus from the saints to God(Father, Son and Holy Spirit). You think I can stop praising God for my healing with all my typing, think what our voices will do on that day. Well there be end to that rejoicing. I been typing since 2006. Typing longer then that really, but only for this site I started since 2006.
There is point as believer who can stop a believer from singing praise to God if not from only the heart. Might shut their mouth but you can not stop their heart or mind. There eyes from tears, or wipe the smile from their face. You can not change the joy of God's grace in their life. Why would you want to stop someone's joy is it for selfish reasons. I hope not. God joy he gives us as believers fills our soul til our cup is over flowing and it promised to all of us from the Holy Spirit who fills our heart. Where is is joy, have we lost it. No it still flowing, but sometimes we get a little road dirt on us that we need to be shined up and re annointed to shine once more. God not through with you. Allow God's cleansing and purfication process in your heart through his word and Spirit. Not something man can do, allow God to do it. Mankind is evil because they sometimes think they can cleanse you, but in reality they just had salt til it burns and causes pain that only God can heal.
Dear Heavenly Father, you are the great I am, who looks on your children and delivers them through your Son from their sins. Pour that oil on those wounds of our heart, and soul and do the the repair work in their hearts through your word. In Jesus precious name, Amen. Continual Scripture Study: Revelation 21:1-8 KJV
1 And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea.
2 And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.
3 And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God.
4 And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.
5 And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful.
6 And he said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely.
7 He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son.
8 But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death. http://www.turtle30cshell.com
