Daily Devotions: by Christina Farris
Exodus 14:16-31 KJV
16 But lift thou up thy rod, and stretch out thine hand over the sea, and divide it: and the children of Israel shall go on dry ground through the midst of the sea.
17 And I, behold, I will harden the hearts of the Egyptians, and they shall follow them: and I will get me honour upon Pharaoh, and upon all his host, upon his chariots, and upon his horsemen.
18 And the Egyptians shall know that I am the LORD, when I have gotten me honour upon Pharaoh, upon his chariots, and upon his horsemen.
19 And the angel of God, which went before the camp of Israel, removed and went behind them; and the pillar of the cloud went from before their face, and stood behind them:
20 And it came between the camp of the Egyptians and the camp of Israel; and it was a cloud and darkness to them, but it gave light by night to these: so that the one came not near the other all the night.
21 And Moses stretched out his hand over the sea; and the LORD caused the sea to go back by a strong east wind all that night, and made the sea dry land, and the waters were divided.
22 And the children of Israel went into the midst of the sea upon the dry ground: and the waters were a wall unto them on their right hand, and on their left.
23 And the Egyptians pursued, and went in after them to the midst of the sea, even all Pharaoh's horses, his chariots, and his horsemen.
24 And it came to pass, that in the morning watch the LORD looked unto the host of the Egyptians through the pillar of fire and of the cloud, and troubled the host of the Egyptians,
25 And took off their chariot wheels, that they drave them heavily: so that the Egyptians said, Let us flee from the face of Israel; for the LORD fighteth for them against the Egyptians.
26 And the LORD said unto Moses, Stretch out thine hand over the sea, that the waters may come again upon the Egyptians, upon their chariots, and upon their horsemen.
27 And Moses stretched forth his hand over the sea, and the sea returned to his strength when the morning appeared; and the Egyptians fled against it; and the LORD overthrew the Egyptians in the midst of the sea.
28 And the waters returned, and covered the chariots, and the horsemen, and all the host of Pharaoh that came into the sea after them; there remained not so much as one of them.
29 But the children of Israel walked upon dry land in the midst of the sea; and the waters were a wall unto them on their right hand, and on their left.
30 Thus the LORD saved Israel that day out of the hand of the Egyptians; and Israel saw the Egyptians dead upon the sea shore.
31 And Israel saw that great work which the LORD did upon the Egyptians: and the people feared the LORD, and believed the LORD, and his servant Moses. Are you stuck in mud. A believer can not be stuck in mud if he/she obeys the Lord. Key is obedience to God, but the enemy sure can be stuck to the point water that is coming is like a huge tidal wave without end so the people learned as they watched Pharaoh and his men drowned in water coming down that only been a walls of water to pass through for them. Pharaoh was not bother by the wall of water that Israelites walk between. His only mindset was to bring back Israel to enslave them. He want to control Israelites, but in a very short period time had he forgotten the plagues. No he had not forgotten, it was because Pharaoh heart was harden by God of the danger he and his men were in. At anytime Pharaoh could of repented with the knowledge that God was on Israel's side especially when those wheels began to get stuck and come off their chariots. old Pharaoh should of repented but he tried to run in fear. As the last Israelite step on shore, the red sea began to fall on Pharoah has Moses let his arms fall.
This new year will be rejuvenation year. Mud mask sometimes useful for cleansing the pores of the face. But there was no rejuvenation for Pharaoh because he would not trust in God that demonstrated his power in his day and time. Instead God continue to harden his heart. Why was God hardening his heart. There been believer's witness long before Pharaoh hardening of his heart. For he had enslaved God's people. God was setting them free from evil leader. When God fights for you do not need to defend you. You need to learn to trust and obey him. Your obedience will take you through a wall of water that could destroy you, or allow you to walk on sinking sand that is hard and solid to stand on. You choose the path to inslave God's people you are on sinking sand and if you choose the road of obedience you will find yourself on solid ground.
Of we keep our gaze on Jesus their no mud. But we look away we better repent before we drown in water coming down on ones life of enslaving others. Are you making your living off the backbone of another with no compassion. You can go work with godly people that will lay in the trench with you or you can work for godly people that will laugh at your trouble, abuse you and sleep in a palace while you sleep on the street.
Moses grew up in the palace but knew hunger and thirst of Israel. I do not doubt he new the fear crossing the red sea, but he also knew the power of the God that called him to lead by example. He knew his God was able to destroy the enemy or bring him to his knees. He too experience hardship but he knew how to turn it over to the God that lead him in the wilderness. Moses still failed from time to time. He knew he never walk in the land of promise but he was going to the eternal promiseland because he had the faith of Abraham. He walked and talked to God and worshipped him. God protection was for his people.
This new year are you rejuvenate with a mud mask or rejuvenating with obedience to the word and will of God working in your life, it is your choice to follow him. Jesus is God's salvation plan for your life. Keep your gaze on Jesus and the promise of his word in your life. Knowing you can walk on solid ground with Jesus for the victory of sin and death has been won in your life upon belief and reception of the work Christ has already done to set us free from sin and death.
Dear Heavenly Father has we bring in the New year, help us to be ready for you to rejuvenate your Spirit in our life as we work on obeying you in our life. In Jesus precious name, Amen. Continual Scripture Study: Psalm 51:9-12 KJV
9 Hide thy face from my sins, and blot out all mine iniquities.
10 Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.
11 Cast me not away from thy presence; and take not thy holy spirit from me.
12 Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit. http://www.turtle30cshell.com
