Curiousity Killed The Cat
12/11/2023

Daily Devotions:
by Christina Farris

Luke 1:39-58 KJV
39 And Mary arose in those days, and went into the hill country with haste, into a city of Juda;
40 And entered into the house of Zacharias, and saluted Elisabeth.
41 And it came to pass, that, when Elisabeth heard the salutation of Mary, the babe leaped in her womb; and Elisabeth was filled with the Holy Ghost:
42 And she spake out with a loud voice, and said, Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb.
43 And whence is this to me, that the mother of my Lord should come to me?
44 For, lo, as soon as the voice of thy salutation sounded in mine ears, the babe leaped in my womb for joy.
45 And blessed is she that believed: for there shall be a performance of those things which were told her from the Lord.
46 And Mary said, My soul doth magnify the Lord,
47 And my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Saviour. 48 For he hath regarded the low estate of his handmaiden: for, behold, from henceforth all generations shall call me blessed.
49 For he that is mighty hath done to me great things; and holy is his name.
50 And his mercy is on them that fear him from generation to generation.
51 He hath shewed strength with his arm; he hath scattered the proud in the imagination of their hearts.
52 He hath put down the mighty from their seats, and exalted them of low degree.
53 He hath filled the hungry with good things; and the rich he hath sent empty away.
54 He hath holpen his servant Israel, in remembrance of his mercy; 55 As he spake to our fathers, to Abraham, and to his seed for ever.
56 And Mary abode with her about three months, and returned to her own house.
57 Now Elisabeth's full time came that she should be delivered; and she brought forth a son.
58 And her neighbours and her cousins heard how the Lord had shewed great mercy upon her; and they rejoiced with her.

Old saying curiousity killed the cat satisfaction brought it back. This saying means it didnt really kill the cat but his curiousity got the best of him, but his curiousity was satisfied with his investigation. Mary was much like the cat for she did mot have time to tell Elisabeth about her own news that when she reach her cousin house in another village Elisabeth began to prophesize about Mary Baby to come, for son in the womb was filled with the Holy Spirit and leaped in her womb. Many of theses words spoken was to strengthen Mary one she was young and had not age or experiemce in life to know what she was fixing to go through. She needed strength from God for the days ahead. Put yourself in Mary's position for moment and you know her journey of faith is coming fastly as Elisabeth gives birth to John the Baptist. Many knew that heard the fore runner was hear it was a special time, for the people of faith and the world for Christ's would be born too. The first promise an announcement having come.

Joy filled the hill country when people heard what God had done for Elisabeth and Zacharias by giving them a son. Mary witnessed this before returning home. She spent time with Elisabeth and bore witness of the events unfolding. I believe God used her cousin Elisabeth and baby to strengthen the reality of Mary own motherhood to come. If you see before you know the hope and joy on the otherside as promised.

Dear Heavenly Father may your preparation for joy be most satisfying this Christmas season. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

Continual Scripture Study: Isaiah 66:7-14 KJV
7 Before she travailed, she brought forth; before her pain came, she was delivered of a man child.
8 Who hath heard such a thing? who hath seen such things? Shall the earth be made to bring forth in one day? or shall a nation be born at once? for as soon as Zion travailed, she brought forth her children.
9 Shall I bring to the birth, and not cause to bring forth? saith the LORD: shall I cause to bring forth, and shut the womb? saith thy God.
10 Rejoice ye with Jerusalem, and be glad with her, all ye that love her: rejoice for joy with her, all ye that mourn for her:
11 That ye may suck, and be satisfied with the breasts of her consolations; that ye may milk out, and be delighted with the abundance of her glory.
12 For thus saith the LORD, Behold, I will extend peace to her like a river, and the glory of the Gentiles like a flowing stream: then shall ye suck, ye shall be borne upon her sides, and be dandled upon her knees.
13 As one whom his mother comforteth, so will I comfort you; and ye shall be comforted in Jerusalem.
14 And when ye see this, your heart shall rejoice, and your bones shall flourish like an herb: and the hand of the LORD shall be known toward his servants, and his indignation toward his enemies.
