Dealt With My Reproach
12/05/2023

Daily Devotions:
by Christina Farris

Luke 1:24-25 KJV
24 And after those days his wife Elisabeth conceived, and hid herself five months, saying,
25 Thus hath the Lord dealt with me in the days wherein he looked on me, to take away my reproach among men.

Joy came as evidence of Elizabeth pregnancy came to be. Has her belly began to swell she hid herself five months from people surrounding her. No doubt everyone want to see this old woman expecting a child. She was shunned before her pregnancy and made fun of because she and Zacharias had no offspring. Now God removed her reproach and she was pregnant no doubt caused a crowd of onlookers.

Can God remove your reproach? People work hard then their reproach of laziness and enability is removed. What if you work hard and still fail to achieve, society still may put you down. If we label ourselves by society or what people say then one fail oneself unless it is true then we fail to fight to do better.

If childless or something else that is no fault of our own, then one has done the best one can do. It is good to examine oneself to realize the words of another. Some times words hurt but leave no physical scar. To strive to do better because of truth is a positive.

King Saul and the Israelites men lived in fear of the giant Goliathe. David removed the reproach of Israel when he killed the giant but not the king or the men. The shame of a boy walking out to slay a giant with five stones and he only need one to kill the giant we must ask what man alive that stood by quivering did not feel shame. David took it upon himself to use the power of victory for the good of Israel that day and remove their reproach.

God is able to remove the reproach of men and women. Yet as Christ suffer reproach we to will suffer reproach, though he laid his life down for us to live again. Can we bear the battle scars of this world on our humanity, our imperfection until heaven. Christ wore the mark of reproach though he sinned not.

To ignore bullying can appear prideful, to bow to bullying and fight can seem heroic or it can cause a cross of scars if your not physically strong enough to fight. Real bullying not teasing bullying can lead to death or pain to someone. Bullying or causing reproach has no place in society but it exist with many things that are evil.

Our reproach as a believer in Christ should be because our stand for faith in Christ, the works we do for Christ, choices we make concerning God and not our humanity. Can you walk and live with the decision you make because of faith in Jesus? If not talk to God about it. Remember Jesus on his return will remove our reproach from the world because we followed him.

Dear Heavenly Father, just like you removed Elisabeth reproach you will remove the reproach of the believer with the return of Christ, in Jesus precious name, Amen.

Continual Scripture Study: Luke 6:22-23 KJV
22 Blessed are ye, when men shall hate you, and when they shall separate you from their company, and shall reproach you, and cast out your name as evil, for the Son of man's sake.
23 Rejoice ye in that day, and leap for joy: for, behold, your reward is great in heaven: for in the like manner did their fathers unto the prophets.

Hebrews 11:25-26 KJV
25 Choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God, than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season;
26 Esteeming the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures in Egypt: for he had respect unto the recompence of the reward.

1 John 2:28 KJV
28 And now, little children, abide in him; that, when he shall appear, we may have confidence, and not be ashamed before him at his coming.
