What Would You Do If God Asked You? Lesson 17 8/17/2023
Daily Devotions: by Christina FarrisLuke 6:46-49 KJV
46 And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?
47 Whosoever cometh to me, and heareth my sayings, and doeth them, I will shew you to whom he is like:
48 He is like a man which built an house, and digged deep, and laid the foundation on a rock: and when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently upon that house, and could not shake it: for it was founded upon a rock.
49 But he that heareth, and doeth not, is like a man that without a foundation built an house upon the earth; against which the stream did beat vehemently, and immediately it fell; and the ruin of that house was great.
Many of us accept Jesus as Savior with only a base knowledge of who he is and what he did for us. Jesus tells us why call him Lord and we do not do the things in which he said to do? One of the things we learn about our faith in Jesus is we must dig deep to built upon the foundation of Jesus. It really does not seem to deep to love the Lord thy God or to love thy neighbor as yourself until you find yourself in situation where everything you know is put through a test of fire of the Holy Spirit. Do you love God even when tragedy strikes, when the world around is imperfect. When what you desire is not the way you want it to be. When your best friend crucifies you with all those secrets you once told him or her? When your friend hurts you in away that one may not be able to restore friendship. Can you still love them. Easy to love God on the surface but to love God and our fellowman one has to go deeper into the word of God to see his love for mankind and his sending his only Son to save us from our sins. Within the word we either find God grace and sometimes we even see God's judgment on individual life, but beware if we seeking forgiveness of any sin we must go to God first, and to anyone we harm unless it something that better to leave alone. Yet always to God we must go for forgiveness. God sent his only begotten Son Jesus to redeem us of all our sin. It is through our own sin we learn about God's saving grace. We learn how deep and wide God's grace truly is. We learn how deep we must go to not only find, but to build upon the solid rock of faith because of his grace and love for us. If we build on the material things in our life, it like building on sinking sand. If we build on the things of this world it can be gone in one day or it can be gone over a period of time, but either way it be eventually be out of our grasp. How many business closed because of a pandemic had to rebuild their enterprise from almost the ground up because of their reliance on other manufacturers that had never failed before but failed during the pandemic. I tell the truth there are still products on the shelves in stores that have not and may never return. There are things that are in the store we never seen before and we probably never try. Yet most of the polulation is use to change because of large metro things, things being here and gone tomorrow while smaller areas rely on consistency, though they have their own fly by night businesses. Are building our nation back after such lost on the foundation of Christ and his word or on the things of this world. How many business are still relying on other business for supplies to make their product and to come back into full swing. If you live in Egypt you be require to make your own products and supplies for the pyramids of Egypt. The Hebrew went out in the open field and cut down straw for their bricks and hauled it to their brick kilns to make them, and then made their bricks and placed them on those pyramids as they built them for Pharaoh. Pharoah removing industries from some works to force harder labor to others, was it because of the seven plagues or had God effected their economy that the hebrew people had no recourse but to find ways to make bricks for Pharaoh at his demand. The effects of the plagues were causing problems for the people.
As the red sea pulled back water from two sides and the Hebrew people cross over, Pharaoh seen his economy going before him and ran after it only to not find himself sinking in sand as water flowed over him, but he had not power to control or stop it causing his demise. Israel however was beginning to dig deep into faith, by learning that God's wrath brought judgment and God's grace makes a way of escape, they were now building on the solid rock of faith as they watch the water that should of drowned them, drown Pharaoh and his mighty men.
God word begins with promise of salvation, God's word begans to grow at this one point, but to grow it must take root around that solid rock. It roots must grab deep in to the word where it is hidden, to be planted on solid rock of faith in Christ Jesus. We all have done it by relying on what we can see and not in God. Whether we recognzie it or not as a lack of faith might be a question and a should be concern to all. Why because when we rely only on what we preceive we fail the test of faith to stand on what God spoke to us and promised us through out his word.
God promised us if we build our faith in him and stand on the solid foundation stone, the chief cornerstone of our faith which is faith in His Son Jesus, when the storms come we would not fall or bend to them, but stand firm. If we build on the foundation of trust in the things of this world(which is surface deep) we will fall with wind and storm that will come. Most of us unprepared for the faith it take to get us through many storms, but God builds his church with faith to stand starting with the chief stone being Jesus and continue building through the saints that come before us in faith. Without faith Jesus still would rise again. With faith seeing him rise from the dead brought eternal hope. With that stone God can build a faith within us that will surpass ua as long as we believe that His Son died for our sins and rose again. With only hearing the story many have believed and been convicted by the Holy Spirit in the lives of the unbeliever. God grace and forgiveness coming when we should not of been forgiven With that forgiveness that we did not deserve we found our hope to springs forth in faith becoming planted as each of us believe in Jesus, God's word, and obeying his word because of faith. When the storms of this world come we will stand on the solid rock of faith that can not be moved.
Dear Heavenly Father we stand our ground on faith in Christ Jesus, help us to obey you and to do what you ask us to do. Help us to love one another and to forgive as you forgive us and continue to demonstrate your love for us by providing the direction we ought to go. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

20 And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone;
1 Peter 2:5-7 KJV
5 Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.
6 Wherefore also it is contained in the scripture, Behold, I lay in Sion a chief corner stone, elect, precious: and he that believeth on him shall not be confounded.
7 Unto you therefore which believe he is precious: but unto them which be disobedient, the stone which the builders disallowed, the same is made the head of the corner,
2 Peter 1:2-10 KJV
2 Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord,
3 According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:
4 Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.
5 And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge;
6 And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness;
7 And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity.
8 For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
9 But he that lacketh these things is blind, and cannot see afar off, and hath forgotten that he was purged from his old sins.
10 Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall:
