What Would You Do If God Asked You? Lesson 7

Daily Devotions:
by Christina Farris

Luke 10:25-28 KJV
25 And, behold, a certain lawyer stood up, and tempted him, saying, Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?
26 He said unto him, What is written in the law? how readest thou?
27 And he answering said, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbour as thyself.
28 And he said unto him, Thou hast answered right: this do, and thou shalt live.

This is the beginning portion of the story of the good Samaritan. Yet we not going to look at the parable of the good samaritan but at the discourse between the lawyer and Jesus before the story comes to be. It interesting to note the lawyer wanted to know how to inherit eternal life? Jesus response what is written in the law? How do you read it? From a legal standing between God and man what had God declared to man that would enable him to have eternal life. In that law it says to "love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul and with all they strength and with thy mind; and they neighbour as thyself". Jesus says he answer right: this do and he would live.

If our action of hate brings not love then our actions of hate is not going to bring eternal life. If I speak on faith is necessary for eternal life that is the begining of faith, but not the end of our faith, if that was so everyone would just believe and life style would matter nothing in the walk of faith. Works has a place in our faith. To love God you must believe and get to know, who you believe in, and to learn about him, to understand who God is. To love others you must act in accordance to the law of love and be kind, consider, and act how you want others to treat you. You act toward God how you want to be treated by him. You want Jesus to remember you, remember him. You want his love which is already given unconditionally, you got to continue to love him even after the judgment on the earth. Our hate has no place in the love of God. Revengeous is the Lords, not ours. How do we love, we do not see skin color, nationality and so forth to be a reason to hate, we do not see evil of a person, but continue to love them despite their actions toward us as individuals. Does any of us do this perfectly. No. We are not to be a doormat, for that not love either. Hate the action of evil not the person is something we all have to strive to do. When God sends bad weather that destroys can we still love him. Do we except his judgment as Abraham was required in a since to do when he look towards Sodom and Gomorrah though he question God about the righteous people there. He knew Lot was a believer. God sent his angels in that took Lot and his family to safety all but the mother who look back in disobedience to God.

Can our works alone save us? The answer is no. Our works are apart of faith. Love is a part of our faith. There is no room for hate. If we hate we must find a way to rid ourselve through prayer, and even sometimes finding a way to let that anger out in a constructive manner. Hate has no place and to use the things that cause hate to cause division does not bring unity of any people. If we can all agree to roast marshmellows even if it only to help a child roast his, then we achieve our goaled of unity. If we can agree to shop the same store without fighting over things we want, like grabbing the latest toy to try and get to the cashier with it first because it a must have for Christmas then we won to be in unity of not caring about the item over the protection of each other individual rights to purchase first. More and more people are learning they can wait for a movie to come out even if takes time. Why because often they already paying for viewing movies in some format. Very few free movie places left to the public world.

Love has no place for greed, no place for hate, no place for pushing and shoving, and definitely no place for evil against each other. Nothing wrong in standing up for what is right, but to allow love to not compel that standing up, is the wrong answer. Allow the laws to rule and the love to continue with forgiveness, the past can not dictate who we are, it can only remind us who we do not want to be like, and reflect on the good can only tell what we should be if those things are about love. To love others by God's law is a law that God writes on the heart of man by the Holy Spirit. It is a law that will not change.

Dear Heavenly Father help us to love you and others. Teach us to love the way you loved us by sending your Son to die for your sins. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

Continual Scripture Study: 1 John 4:7-21 KJV
7 Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God.
8 He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.
9 In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him.
10 Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.
11 Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another.
12 No man hath seen God at any time. If we love one another, God dwelleth in us, and his love is perfected in us.
13 Hereby know we that we dwell in him, and he in us, because he hath given us of his Spirit.
14 And we have seen and do testify that the Father sent the Son to be the Saviour of the world.
15 Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwelleth in him, and he in God.
16 And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him.
17 Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world.
18 There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love.
19 We love him, because he first loved us.
20 If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen?
21 And this commandment have we from him, That he who loveth God love his brother also.
