What Would You Do If God Asked You? Lesson 3
8/02/2023

Daily Devotions:
by Christina Farris

John 10:23-39 KJV
23 And Jesus walked in the temple in Solomon's porch.
24 Then came the Jews round about him, and said unto him, How long dost thou make us to doubt? If thou be the Christ, tell us plainly.
25 Jesus answered them, I told you, and ye believed not: the works that I do in my Father's name, they bear witness of me.
26 But ye believe not, because ye are not of my sheep, as I said unto you.
27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:
28 And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.
29 My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand.
30 I and my Father are one.
31 Then the Jews took up stones again to stone him.
32 Jesus answered them, Many good works have I shewed you from my Father; for which of those works do ye stone me?
33 The Jews answered him, saying, For a good work we stone thee not; but for blasphemy; and because that thou, being a man, makest thyself God.
34 Jesus answered them, Is it not written in your law, I said, Ye are gods?
35 If he called them gods, unto whom the word of God came, and the scripture cannot be broken;
36 Say ye of him, whom the Father hath sanctified, and sent into the world, Thou blasphemest; because I said, I am the Son of God?
37 If I do not the works of my Father, believe me not.
38 But if I do, though ye believe not me, believe the works: that ye may know, and believe, that the Father is in me, and I in him.
39 Therefore they sought again to take him: but he escaped out of their hand,

Christ speaks of his divinity through out his course of ministry. When the Jews picked up stones to stone Jesus, he ask them why they wanted to stone him. It was for blasphemy by which they believed he was not God. Take note of the letter G and case letter whether it be capital or lower case. Jesus said, "is it not written in your law, I said, Ye are gods". When he said, "I said ye are gods", he declaring they were not divine and he declares his Divinity or Lordship over them. Divinity mean his Lordship, his sovernity of being God. God never declares man as being Gods, but gods. Then he ask them why they persecute him has God. Remember Jesus divinity is clear through out scripture because he does the works of his Father. The whole discourse deals with who he was, his divine nature, and his very essence of being part of the Godhead bodily. Whether he was the anoint Christ to come.

Jesus ask the jews to judge him by his works. Asked them to examine the things he did whether it be of God. Understand Satan himself knew that Adam and Eve were little gods, not God. In fact no doubt he understood he could deceive or betrray Adam and Eve as he did in the garden. However he said God would call them gods. God actually does not declare them as gods, but does declare them to be like one of them in the since of knowing good and evil. Satan is a master of lies. For more information study Genesis 3. In Exodus God declares that Moses would be to Pharaoh like a God but did not say he was God. Moses words spoken by God's authority would be with power and be like God in the one since. Moses' boldness to speak coming from God. The term little gods is in then used by God in describing Moses and Aaron authority in Pharaoh life. Power and such is often makes people appear to be like God, but the power of God in our life only makes man little gods. To know our place is we do not have the power of God to control, nor are we God, but we allow God to use us to be godlike among the people he wants to use us to either judge by his power like Pharaoh, or lead the people with power and grace like Moses did his own people in the wilderness. At no time did God declare Moses to be God, but God demonstrate his power in the life of Moses to demonstarte to the people that Moses was to rule over them. Jesus power of rule was not really invoke at this time, his power to teach, to heal, to deliver was there. However Jesus was training his disciples to be teachers and preachers of faith.

Why do you think Jesus power was in the teaching and preaching realm and not in the tolitarian role as ruler or king like Israrel or Rome. His submission to God is clear in scripture but his role was coming as man in human flesh, not to Lord over man but to be a friend, a leader, a teacher and yet he was King of his people. There people that like ministers to teach rather then to preach as evangelist might. Rather their sermons be something they can learn or glean from and not so much empowered by fuel of what is to come upon the earth in the form of judgment. There others that want the hell fire and brimstone message every week. The hellfire and brimstone sermons might get many to altar but beyond the education of faith it does little good beyond salvation. Jesus was not a hellfire and brimstone minister constantly, Did not mean he did not speak about the judgment of God to come, but when he did he taught about it. There is a place for both type of ministers, but if you going to teach like Jesus you learn first to love people as you preach or teach. Showing them mercy and grace to allow people to come to the throne of God on their own. Moses to Pharaoh would of been a hellfire and brimstone preacher with the plagues. Yet Moses knew how to be a gentle shepherd among the people. Demonstrating the power of God and at times God demonstrate even his wrath on Israel.

David in Psalms said he would worship God among the gods/kings and leaders of the land. God's call to lead in political realm does not mean God on the back burner, but God's leaders no matter their position share their faith with leaders around them. Minister in place we can not always see, people that need God because of their position. To rule a people or a nation you need God, you need the God of scripture to divide good from evil that will effect man.

The evilness of our time is states allowing Marijuana a known drug that cause hallucinations to be smoke. Some are using the plant Marijuana to consume in cooking and medical drugs to help people with chronic pain and other illness. The drugs of our time that are not control substance can be still as deadly as it was before legalization. Federally last year in April of 2022 Marijuana was decriminalized. Is it safe no. It still a substance that must be used with caution. The side effects still can be harmful to one's body. It still can fill one's lungs with pollution, it still cause breathing problems and so forth. There times our Government is more like satan in its choice to change laws that were once intend to protect, they become laws to destroy our nation. Yet what government has learned is by allowing it, people do not desire it as much or are more likely to control their own use of it, becoming less a power of evil but a power of free choice. No one cares if something is legal, the rebels want the things illegal more. Meaning there still with be imprisonment for illegal drugs.

There is point when I say we need leaders that know when to look away and leaders that know when to take a stand and help individual fight. There times when they need to be more godlike then human to get things done and other times they need to allow their own humanity to rule. Jesus walk in full humanity, but he demonstrated the power he had and was his upon the earth, even to the point of allowing his body to be crucified by man and raising himself up again on the third day.

His power reigning in love not with judgmental actions of anger. That same love that was given to Israel in the wilderness as he feed them manna from heaven and even quail. If Jesus asked you today what kind of god you think you are what kind of god are you? Are you little gods in power or are you like him in power. We are not without his power as believers in Christ but his power is not for us to control. Jesus had control over his power. We has little gods have the power to come to the throne of God as believers and ask about the things we need done, and he will give according to his will for our life.

Dear Heavenly Father, give us the knowledge that we are not greater then Jesus, but the power you do bestow on us is th e ability to come to you asking what we have need of. Help us to use the power you give us not to be lords, but to be people that apt to teach and to love. In Jesus precious name, Amen.
