Beginning Of The Storm

Daily Devotions:
by Christina Farris

Acts 4:1-31 KJV
1 And as they spake unto the people, the priests, and the captain of the temple, and the Sadducees, came upon them,
2 Being grieved that they taught the people, and preached through Jesus the resurrection from the dead.
3 And they laid hands on them, and put them in hold unto the next day: for it was now eventide.
4 Howbeit many of them which heard the word believed; and the number of the men was about five thousand.
5 And it came to pass on the morrow, that their rulers, and elders, and scribes,
6 And Annas the high priest, and Caiaphas, and John, and Alexander, and as many as were of the kindred of the high priest, were gathered together at Jerusalem.
7 And when they had set them in the midst, they asked, By what power, or by what name, have ye done this?
8 Then Peter, filled with the Holy Ghost, said unto them, Ye rulers of the people, and elders of Israel,
9 If we this day be examined of the good deed done to the impotent man, by what means he is made whole;
10 Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by him doth this man stand here before you whole.
11 This is the stone which was set at nought of you builders, which is become the head of the corner.
12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.
13 Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were unlearned and ignorant men, they marvelled; and they took knowledge of them, that they had been with Jesus.
14 And beholding the man which was healed standing with them, they could say nothing against it.
15 But when they had commanded them to go aside out of the council, they conferred among themselves,
16 Saying, What shall we do to these men? for that indeed a notable miracle hath been done by them is manifest to all them that dwell in Jerusalem; and we cannot deny it.
17 But that it spread no further among the people, let us straitly threaten them, that they speak henceforth to no man in this name.
18 And they called them, and commanded them not to speak at all nor teach in the name of Jesus.
19 But Peter and John answered and said unto them, Whether it be right in the sight of God to hearken unto you more than unto God, judge ye.
20 For we cannot but speak the things which we have seen and heard.
21 So when they had further threatened them, they let them go, finding nothing how they might punish them, because of the people: for all men glorified God for that which was done.
22 For the man was above forty years old, on whom this miracle of healing was shewed.
23 And being let go, they went to their own company, and reported all that the chief priests and elders had said unto them.
24 And when they heard that, they lifted up their voice to God with one accord, and said, Lord, thou art God, which hast made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and all that in them is:
25 Who by the mouth of thy servant David hast said, Why did the heathen rage, and the people imagine vain things?
26 The kings of the earth stood up, and the rulers were gathered together against the Lord, and against his Christ.
27 For of a truth against thy holy child Jesus, whom thou hast anointed, both Herod, and Pontius Pilate, with the Gentiles, and the people of Israel, were gathered together,
28 For to do whatsoever thy hand and thy counsel determined before to be done.
29 And now, Lord, behold their threatenings: and grant unto thy servants, that with all boldness they may speak thy word,
30 By stretching forth thine hand to heal; and that signs and wonders may be done by the name of thy holy child Jesus.
31 And when they had prayed, the place was shaken where they were assembled together; and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and they spake the word of God with boldness.

The storm began as the Sadducees heard the apostles teaching in Jesus name. Upset enough they detain the apostles Peter and John because of the healing of the man in chapter 3 in Acts. The division coming in the beginning. The apostle would stand before religious council and be warned not not speak in the name of Jesus. Simple divisions became between the early christians and the Jewish religious council, because the healing glorified Jesus the man they crucified. Yet it was more that, this man Jesus had done many miracles and now his disciples called apostles were doing likewise and they were just men not even claiming equality with Jesus, but preaching by his name. Who had established change in religious order of temple only God. And by preaching in the name of Jesus, they were out of line. Not by tradition of the temple. The man healed they did not question it has much as the authority of the name in which man preached it.

When we think of the more fundamental groups only speaking scripture, I have to ask why? The modern day prayer groups with slaining in the spirit and sanctuaries lined with people praying. People speaking in tongues and what some call the pentecostal revival taking place, where no outpouring of God been seen in years. What is going on. The outpouring of the Holy Spirit in Acts took place over 40 days after the resurrection. The promise of the Holy Spirit witnessed by the disciples but not everyone. How do you know if experience or event is of God? There are religions coming and going on right now even as I speak across America that truly not of God. The presents of the antichrist flourishing all over and the fundamentalist preaching straight scripture not joining in the revivals and why? When the Holy Spirit is said to be flourishing in our land. If you take time to look on Youtube and the nazi revivals, and occult practices you may go running back to your Bible.

Bible teaches we should not be acting like the heathens in our church, yet do we. Or do we need to hide our lamps for our own protection. What God did not teach his people to live in fear, but to face their fears even if it meant death by the heathens. Many people in this day and age will say we are not going to take it we will rise up against strong holds of Satanic power even if it enters the church world. How many people have left the church world behind as believers and chosen pacifism. Some even taking their children out of public school system instead of allowing Christian voice being heard even in the schools by sound religious beliefs of choice of right and wrong no long existing within the public school system. Teaching of children to stand up for what is right, even if others choose something else.

Do our emotions glorify God? How do our emotions in praise glorify God. Emotions are a part of all of us. I do not doubt Peter and John were full of emotion because of being detained by the religious leaders, but you do not see any aggressive behavior on their part in their situation, but you do see them speaking out as what? Not as ignornant men as the religious leaders thought they were but educated people of not only in their own conviction but the Old Testament Scrolls. Jesus did read from the scrolls in the synagogues.

Peter using scripture to teach and speak from about who Jesus was and is. Can you hear the word of God and the word only pricks the human heart, or pierces the human soul? A good poem on the right day whether scripture or not can make a woman or man shed tears. Yet the word of God does something more it brings healing with the hope that retained in scripture. Devil also knows scripture. Where is the healing where is the anointing/balm in that. I will tell you, the word of God has life of its own the devil can use and misuse but the Spirit of God gives life to God's word in the heart of the individual.

To preach or teach in the name of Jesus is to preach by the word of God. Does that mean prophesy can not be spoken by God's word. If you talk about wolves in sheep clothing, you understand there is a devil among us. There someone that is not of God that is only their to con, to twist and to chase the sheep of God away and maybe even kill. What kills faith more then the preaching of the good feeling, good emotions rather then scripture of the word of God. People want hope, will God's people believe the hope is in God's word that what needs to be preached. If our hope is of heaven, the knowledge of what heaven looks like, is and where it located is in scripture. If you want to talk only about baby Jesus and his power as a man, then you will find it in scripture. That disciples and others believe he was more then a man and had power to send and to go forth, that we need to realize Christ power is control by what his word. We rest upon his word.

Disciples went about preaching from the word of God in Acts 4 Peter spoke out of the Psalms concerning David as he preached. If we speak of past events after scripture was recorded in relationship to the church it part of church history, part of church maybe even today, it tells the story of what happening and why their warning of things we see in our world. Some things bringing confusion and not peace.

If someone has a gift of tongues, or a talent of tongues. Many that learn languages easily, or they are given a gift by the Holy Spirit for a purpose that may or may not come again, but comes by obedience. Disciples are obeying Christ by teaching both from the word of God and speaking of the present day issue of the outpouring of the Holy Spirit not only in their own life but in the life of the people that are hearing and believing the words that Peter is speaking.

Religious leaders want to prevent Peter but they can not, because their no criminal activity. Peter tells them he will not stop speaking of the things which God has done. What God has done through his Son Jesus. We see men not acting drunk but preaching about Jesus. The other day I heard a song I know when I hear it, called Because He lives. It an old hymn. Yet the song sung in another language is still for me the same song. Meaning despite I understood not the foreign words the music still spoke the song and lyrics came running through my mind. The interpretation of the song course through my Spirit. The language of the musician spoke to me. However those speaking in another language, I had no clue if the music meant the same as it did to me other then the joy in their faces. Joy can be for other things then the hymn at that moment. It could of had another meaning to them. Catholics preach in an universal language that people of their group know. However they do teach in many languages. Universal language is not always understood by all, but if your in any service it will sound the same for certain parts of the service. If one goes into any church service their certain things by tradition are the same, but their churches arising that are about the emotion more then the word of God and who God(Father, Son and Holy Spirit) is. They leave out the word and work on the state of the person's mind and not the scripture.

All the religious leaders understood the psalms but not necessarily the things of the New Testament though they were a witness of Jesus and now the outpouring of the Holy Spirit. Signs and wonders follow the believers. What signs answer prayer, answer of healing in the name of Jesus. Jesus is about healing by God's word, by need of physical healing, emotional and spiritual healing. A spiritual healing by the truth of God's word for the believer that understands the word of God, or are learning to understand.

When religious leaders where finished speaking to Peter and John about not speaking about Jesus, Peter and John continued to preach the word of God and the people praised God and honor God that day and some where even filled with the Holy Spirit. One of the best sections of scripture that short to read about the Holy Spirit and the Word of God is probably I John. Though there many scripture elsewhere it is a blessing to the human spirit, because of knowledge of the Holy Spirit contained in his letter, bearing understanding of confusion of what can be misunderstood but solved with the basics of God's word.

We can not forget Prophet Elisha that cursed and the children that died, nor can we forget the blessing God poured out through the prophets like Elijah. Yet when we pray in the name of Jesus, when we pray and prophesy by his word we know it is the work of God. Man can only take so much, but God's word is the healing balm. The beginning of the storm of the church is caused by the devil, not wanting the church to preach or teach the word of God.

What am I doing establishing somethings. What were signs Moses use with Pharaoh, his staff turned in a serpent and then back into his staff. Plagues of Egypt all signs that testified that God's word was in Moses and he spoke by the power of God. Scripture is not specific of the signs that followed the believer, but we know that Paul was bit by a venomous viper and he did not get sick and got to testify to the king on the island he and others were shipwrecked on. We know the testimony of believers were spoken to other both in their language and the language only known to a few. We know interpretation was given to explain the event. We know people were healed.

If what happening is not explained to you when you ask, walk out, unless God speaks to your heart to stay. What you experiencing by the Holy Spirit should have a baseline of scripture. The storm of our century is scripture being removed not only from our land but the church. If they want to know who God is they will still pack the church world. If they want to know how to receive sound counsel they can go to psychology of faith in Christ Jesus. People need to know who Jesus is. Peter continue in like manner as to teach from Old Testament and testify of the Messiah and the Spirit of God. Paul educated Timothy in like manner.

The storm of the Apostles are having by religious counsel is that their current testimony of their day about Jesus was not a part of the Jewish Temple, because they believed not in Jesus, that he was the Messiah, nor the testimony of healing, sign, wonders and languages spoken. Yet many Jews believed and became part of the family of God, and started sharing their own testimony.

Dear Heavenly Father move in the lives of your people to teach about you and who your Son is with and by the Holy Spirit. Teaching them to observe all that you taught as your Son walked this earth. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

Continual Scripture Study: 1 John 1:1-4 KJV
1 That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, of the Word of life;
2 (For the life was manifested, and we have seen it, and bear witness, and shew unto you that eternal life, which was with the Father, and was manifested unto us;)
3 That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ.
4 And these things write we unto you, that your joy may be full.
