Fear Of Man And The Fear Of God
4/26/2023

Daily Devotions:
by Christina Farris

1 Chronicles 14:17 KJV
17 And the fame of David went out into all lands; and the LORD brought the fear of him upon all nations.

Acts 2:29-36 KJV
29 Men and brethren, let me freely speak unto you of the patriarch David, that he is both dead and buried, and his sepulchre is with us unto this day.
30 Therefore being a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn with an oath to him, that of the fruit of his loins, according to the flesh, he would raise up Christ to sit on his throne;
31 He seeing this before spake of the resurrection of Christ, that his soul was not left in hell, neither his flesh did see corruption.
32 This Jesus hath God raised up, whereof we all are witnesses.
33 Therefore being by the right hand of God exalted, and having received of the Father the promise of the Holy Ghost, he hath shed forth this, which ye now see and hear.
34 For David is not ascended into the heavens: but he saith himself, The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand,
35 Until I make thy foes thy footstool.
36 Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God hath made that same Jesus, whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ.

Fear of God and a fear of man. Many fear those with the larger weapons. It not statistics it is common sense. Respect and fear often goes hand and hand. It like the child being called into the principal office and the principal allows the child in no uncircumstance he needs to learn to show more respect to his leaders. It the educator that does not do this fails in teaching good moral fear of those in charge. Not fear to where they allowed to abuse a person, but fear in regards to respect of the authority in which they are in charge of for the time period in which they serve. Their authority to govern the school must come with a degree of respect. Meaning a child in trouble still respects the authority of the principal to the point he obeys the school rules. Government the same way. The bully with a machine gun has no respect, no authority, and deserves the punish hopefully the law is able to enforce on him. If not the law or the law of society inflicts to protect the innocent. Yesterday lesson a small point of David fear of God though he known God has a loving God. His fear so much he allow the ark to remain in a safe location for three months before taking it to Jerusalem. Yet this fear was preparing for his own reign of human power. Not power of God but the power of man.

I posted a passage in Acts that has to do with Christ authority not being like King David because David seen the grave and did not arise to ascend into heaven. Christ came has High Priest over the House of Israel, not just the house of Israel but the world. His authority not just over one group but all people. David was a king of many tribes not just Israel. People fear of David cause his authority to rise up. Allowing Israel laws not of faith but of rule come to be more abundant in the world. Kings of Israel had wives of many religions, yet in the wilderness God made it clear his authority.

The complexity of what we read and believe can get weighed down by human law that same law God allowed because of man's poor and good choices even down to worshipping the beast over him. David was not just a king but was also a prophet. He could of used his authority to make man worship him, but he did not. David was given authority and power over this kingdom because He was God's choice to be in power and not man's. He was God's choice to be in power because of his love for him and his dedication in the worship of him. He gave gifts of prophesy to David making him a prophet and a psalmist. David could not sit on the throne of God with him, nor was he equal to God in authority.

Fear Of God necessarily to keep David from think he was equal to God or the one he prophesized about name the Messiah the anointed one that was to come, The Christ and Lord of mankind. Jesus is the only one that could sit on the right hand side of God in equality with authority and power and not be consumed by God's wrath, because he was the only begotten of the Father full of grace and truth. God's word was a lamp unto David feet and light to his path, but he was not God or equal. Only Christ shared that authority and could sit on the right hand of God the Father. Word being David Savior, but seeing it afar off as coming in the flesh to reign.

Fear of God is healthy fear to know you are not God to know your authority is from God and your lot in life with responsibility comes with a price. There are men in government from all nations that should never have the power granted them because of their abuse and their inability to see their own actions has being wrong. There authority and power needs to be cut off and not return to people in power that are evil. Power belongs to those that protect all people no matter, race, creed, or ethicity, or sex. Man tried to control his authority often by these things or by his peer group. It will never work or not forever anyway. Political world talk justice for all but that the most untrue statement in the world today. For justice to reign effectively those making a judgment, the people of authority must be willing to obey the law and not override it by their power and authority given or even their own sense of justice.

God's authority given because his wrath comes to destroy evil, to destory the things that are not good, but to restore those with hope that remain. God's authority to correct even the slightest indiscretion in the Old Testament seem foreign when it comes to just one touch of the ark in yesterday's lesson. It seems that this man was not so evil, but that God just struck him down for one indiscretion. God's authority becomes naked and unreliable if he obeys not his own rules. Did it hurt God the day when one man touch the ark and his sin caused his death. David talks about sin in Psalms 32:2 that is not imputeth, that a man is blessed. David recognizing the sins of man, God does not seem or imply judgment on all sin> He could if he desired too. The need for sacrifice for sin, the need for repentance still needed despite the sin God does not seem to judge us for. The need for hope. The evidence of hope by God's non judgment on sin that we deserve judgment for. Wages of sin is death scripture says, yet do we undestand the authority of God to kill us because of sin. Do we understand the need of a Savior, his word promised to all that repent and confess their sin.

David seen the power of God before his own eyes to take a human life over a trivial indisgretion in man's eyes. Yet it was a law of authority and power of God, not man. Not trivial to God. His authority must be obeyed because of his holiness. That why sin can only reach the heighth of heaven but not enter into heaven. When it reach the heighth of heaven it will be destoryed because of God's holiness. Respect of God authority comes with understanding God going to correct over the disrespect of his holiness.

David seen the breach it caused between him and the family the sin of touching the ark effect and also ieffect that family in their relationship to God. Often we do not get the panadoramic view of the divisions in people life that this displays in scripture. We may have clues and even ideas why division is, but it not always the cause. We must remember our relationship to God is individual and not a group. It must begin in our own hearts to have faith in God, to repent of sin, to respect God's authority. To respect our leaders authority based on the laws they are suppose to and try to uphold.

Christ authority is given by God to establish his word among people that knew not the laws of God. That only knew the laws of man but had a need of a Savior. Christ came for the sinner not the unrighteous, but it was promise to the righteous of his precious promise of his love. He taught man the ways of righeousness and showed his power to them in a loving way. When man only understands God's love we think we can wrap our arms around God, but in truth we need the six foot distancing why? because of our unholiness in our humanity. Christ in the flesh allow the embracement of mankind. In his holy state his word pentrates the sinful heart of man. Deep into the darkest part of sin in our hearts. It does not stop sinful man from arising but it stops man from being worthy of being in the presents of God without repentance and a covering for our sin. Our sin as believer is cover by the blood of Jesus. Covered through the redemption of God's only begotten Son.

Dear Heavenly Father help us to recognize your authority and power in our life and to fear it with respect that you even acknowedge your own word being worthy to sit on your right hand and reign with you. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

Continual Scripture Study: 1 Chronicles 13:12-14 KJV
12 And David was afraid of God that day, saying, How shall I bring the ark of God home to me?
13 So David brought not the ark home to himself to the city of David, but carried it aside into the house of Obededom the Gittite.
14 And the ark of God remained with the family of Obededom in his house three months. And the LORD blessed the house of Obededom, and all that he had.

Romans 6:23 KJV
23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
