Daily Devotions:
by Christina Farris

1 Corinthians 11:23-30 KJV
23 For I have received of the Lord that which also I delivered unto you, That the Lord Jesus the same night in which he was betrayed took bread:
24 And when he had given thanks, he brake it, and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me.
25 After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me.
26 For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do shew the Lord's death till he come.
27 Wherefore whosoever shall eat this bread, and drink this cup of the Lord, unworthily, shall be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord.
28 But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of that bread, and drink of that cup.
29 For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh damnation to himself, not discerning the Lord's body.
30 For this cause many are weak and sickly among you, and many sleep.

Do we ever think about our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ own emotions as he prepared not only himself but his disciples for the events leading to the cross. The Lord's supper is done in remembrance of Jesus death and crucifixion. Jesus said in Matthew as he "took the bread and blessed it and brake it, and gave it to the disciples, Take and eat this is my body and he took the cup and gave thanks and gave to them, Drink ye all of it; For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins". Judas had left he could not share in this new covenant, but he could dip his bread in the wine as a sign of friendship as he left to go and betray Jesus. Is Judas a friend. No but the dipping of the bread into the wine. Look up Matthew to read that part about Judas, it above the passage that post in the continual scripture study: must be read in your own Bible. Reading scripture in your translation may be beneficial if it not KJV to you. However information going to be the same. It is important to look at the information available that I post, because today lesson not about Judas or any of the disciples but about Jesus and what he said as he prepared his disciples for his death and burial and to drink the cup in his kingdom.

Jesus preparation for his death was not only symbolic for you and I but important to him, because it represented a day after when he be with his disciples again. Everytime someone goes to a hospital and has surgery their hope is what they eat the night before is not their last meal. They hope their entrance is not their exit from this world. I heard a story once a man before his surgery went and ate a feast at an all you can eat buffet, the next day the surgery could not be done. He wanted to make sure he had a meal that would last a life time apparently and fail. Christ piece of bread and wine was a snack that lasted a lifetime into eternity. Christ was preparing his disciples for his body to be given as a sacrifice on a cross for the nation of Israel and for the rest of the world because of sin at the temple of turning his Father's house into a den of thieves. How many of us can say the law of God was greater then the law of man in the lives of the religious leaders. Can someone change that law, governments have tried and continue to fail. How deeply are you convicted in your faith. Are so convicted if you break the law of the government you will be willing to pay the price of the breaking of that law. Christ as a man would be demonstrating that type of faith. Most of us would probably go to the temple leaders today to see how the thieves could be removed legally from selling on the temple porch. We would inact the law of government to force them off the porch. Temple laws could of banned the thieves from selling but did not.

Cult watch is often government watching over religious groups that seem violent in nature. Their faith usually a instrument of good will and lawful living in many nations. This is where roman law and Jewish law collides. It is a place where Jesus was right to protect the temple by faith, but by Roman law he had broken the law by declaring his kingship in the triumphal entry. He is crowned king by the Roman government with a crown of thorns. His sacrifice being not because he was not worthy by the laws of God, but worthy to die by the laws of man. No one else ever lived up to the laws of man because they change with the passing of time. God's law's never change, but are consistent to obey God is better then man, why because he has the power to passes judgment on our soul. He died being who he was. Not who he was not. And he rises because who can kill the Son of God who is from above? He would loose his blood through the beating through the cross. His life blood was taken from him. The one out of two element to bring back life was gone, his breath being the second element. With all taken from how could he live. Yet God in his power raised up Jesus. In the power God gave Jesus he able to raise himself up into his kingdom.

Why should we remember this event as believers, it important to know that man can destroy the body but not the soul the life giving foretress of the state of our eternity given to all believers and non believers. Those sealed by faith, know their eternity by faith, those without faith have no eternity, and understand not their lostness. Jesus knew whose son he was. He knew he was the beloved son whom his Father God was well pleased. This bread and wine a symbol and memory of Christ suffering for mankind sins. Our own suffering for our own well doing for Christ sake. Where is our faith then, are we willing to bring others to the cross knowing their sins will be forgiven too. Are you willing to kneel at the cross and ask for forgiveness knowing he had the power to live again and did so. Are we willing to believe in his ability is greater then our own.

God would tell you if you going to pick a fight with a devil make sure it one worth fighting about. Make sure it is your calling that you are going to the cross of man for the protection of faith. Every generation needs a person they know they stood their ground because of God's law. Daniel obeyed the law of man and went to his cross, and came out victoriously to the shock and hope of the king, for he like Daniel. How many see the cross of Jesus, his sacrifice of his body and his blood was worthy to bear to save us from our sins. Are you willing to die for what you know is right, despite the evilness of man.

Imagine Christ preparing his disciples through a piece of broken bread and cup of wine. Yet he said remember me and I will drink this bread and cup in my kingdom with you again. When we eat and drink the passover with fellow believers we must examine ourselves and ask ourselves are we willing to pick up our cross and follow him. We watch online our nation go mad for one leader or another but have they bore their cross in regards to understanding the valueof the law. I think not at times if they break the law. Christ knew his cross was of value to ever sinner who would nail him to his own cross. HIs own crucifixion because of their sin. We can not change Jesus' cross but we can learn from it and we can learn the cost because he was who he claimed to be. We can learn from his cross our own ignorance to our own sin, to our own cross we must bear for our faith in Christ Jesus.

Dear Heavenly Father thank you for the cross of you Son, help us to bear the cross as believers in faith in Christ Jesus to carry the Gospel to those in need of it. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

Thanksgiving Eve Countdown, day 2: Let us praise God for providing us faith in the journey that we believe because he has shown us his mercy and grace not only in words but evident to our hearts.

Continual Scripture Study: Matthew 26:26-30 KJV

28 For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.
