Sin Will Not Reign 11/06/2022
Daily Devotions: by Christina FarrisRomans 7:1-25 KJV
1 Know ye not, brethren, (for I speak to them that know the law,) how that the law hath dominion over a man as long as he liveth?
2 For the woman which hath an husband is bound by the law to her husband so long as he liveth; but if the husband be dead, she is loosed from the law of her husband.
3 So then if, while her husband liveth, she be married to another man, she shall be called an adulteress: but if her husband be dead, she is free from that law; so that she is no adulteress, though she be married to another man.
4 Wherefore, my brethren, ye also are become dead to the law by the body of Christ; that ye should be married to another, even to him who is raised from the dead, that we should bring forth fruit unto God.
5 For when we were in the flesh, the motions of sins, which were by the law, did work in our members to bring forth fruit unto death.
6 But now we are delivered from the law, that being dead wherein we were held; that we should serve in newness of spirit, and not in the oldness of the letter.
7 What shall we say then? Is the law sin? God forbid. Nay, I had not known sin, but by the law: for I had not known lust, except the law had said, Thou shalt not covet.
8 But sin, taking occasion by the commandment, wrought in me all manner of concupiscence. For without the law sin was dead.
9 For I was alive without the law once: but when the commandment came, sin revived, and I died.
10 And the commandment, which was ordained to life, I found to be unto death.
11 For sin, taking occasion by the commandment, deceived me, and by it slew me.
12 Wherefore the law is holy, and the commandment holy, and just, and good.
13 Was then that which is good made death unto me? God forbid. But sin, that it might appear sin, working death in me by that which is good; that sin by the commandment might become exceeding sinful.
14 For we know that the law is spiritual: but I am carnal, sold under sin.
15 For that which I do I allow not: for what I would, that do I not; but what I hate, that do I.
16 If then I do that which I would not, I consent unto the law that it is good.
17 Now then it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me.
18 For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not.
19 For the good that I would I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I do.
20 Now if I do that I would not, it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me.
21 I find then a law, that, when I would do good, evil is present with me. 22 For I delight in the law of God after the inward man:
23 But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members.
24 O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death?
25 I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin.How many remember to set there clocks back, I was doing so at 3:47 am this morning. Kenny and I could not sleep and you know those passing talks in the middle of the night goes like did you remember, I can't remember I been asleep and so you kind of say okay remember what, to set the clock back, and the other one said either they did or did not, but you know you got to set the clock. Clock set eventually we both go to sleep again. Today is Veterans Day. The victory war, the time of Normandy that said we not allowing you in our nation to the enemy and the enemy said I bet I can take you down you little nation. That little nation says I got friends and I am tougher then nails. So come on if you must but you will not stand. Germany push forward in the little area in England called Normandy and learn they could not get a foothold that day. That war caused the pushing back of German fighters across the globe.
The law of God established in the garden, and the law of disobedience established witht he first bite. The law of God given to Moses pushed the law of sin back. Pushing back of the enemy begins with knowledge of the territory in which he is trying to steal. With the knowledge of law of sin, comes the knowledge of the punishment for sin which is death. Obedience to the law never saved one person beyond the fact the no punishment could be inflicted. However man is tempted in the flesh of their bodies to sin. Sin raging it war on just to be a good person of common decency. The law that waged in our humanity by perhaps trial and error of the effects of if someone does it to me it hurts and I do not wish it on someone else. Yet the law of God is more specific concerning what sin is against God. Sin against God is not honoring God, disobeying a direct command given to you by him and perhaps one of the other most deadly is not believing God. God is not a God to be mocked.
You can not push back without knowing who the enemy is when it comes to the spirituality. In this one chapter it might seem as if Paul saying it okay to sin in the flesh because we are under the law of sin. However can we rise above the law of sin. Can we recognize anything against our Creator is wrong? A mama cat or dog for that matter will correct her babies when they do something wrong, otherwise they just let them do whatever and that includes getting into things that might harm them. However if the kitten does not come to the call of dinner, or bath, the mother might have something to say to that kitten. How does God clean but with His tongue of fire that sends the Holy Spirit and the word of hope into our lives that anyone that calls upon the name of Jesus will be saved.
The law of rules could not save anyone. We born in the flesh and the desires of the flesh seem to at times go against our spiritual common sense in life's situation. Paul reconized the law of sin we were born under because of the first man that sinned, condemned us already to the law of sin, law of choice to obey God's law instead of natural desires. The rules to follow your own inhibition that may follow the laws of God naturally not by any knowledge of the law of God. Was knowledge of sin before the law, definitely not, but the breaking of God's word was clearly known which was the action of sin. The warning first and then the punishment for disobedience to God.
Was man crying Lord tell me what sin is, perhap not those exact words, but as Moses sat judging the people with the laws of God, his father in law Jethro, declare to him he need to establish some type of legal system. Did Moses ask God no he obeyed his father in laws counsel setting up a legal system to declare God's laws. What had happened is God took Israel out of Egypt and Moses would judge the people day and night by God's law. The Father in law of Moses seeing the need to establish more then Moses as a judge for the people. Then the laws and ordinance began to be written down. The ten commandments came as instructions to the people to obey. Which that whole law could be covered by the word love both God and fellowman including oneself.
The law known by the Hebrews perhaps those that still sought God before the exodus. Legal system no more then obedience to whose household you lived under like Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. Knowledge of God coming before the Abrahamic tribe but being really established with Israel before Egypt in many ways. Establishment of the blessings that come from obeying God. Mosaic laws were laws to establish a society not just family. Moses became the intercessor to Israel because of their fear of God. Moses not being perfect could not take away the sins of the people other then through the sacrificial law. Christ became the sacrificial law.
Christ did more then just become the sacrificial law but established no one else could be the Lamb to save another to redeem them before God the Father. He being the great High Priest and the sacrifice for sin. If you going to push sin out of your life, what sin is must be established in your life. The law must come to recognizing God's word is salvation, God's word alone without the law is saving grace, because the law is written on our hearts by the Holy Spirit upon salvation. The spiritual law of faith established for man with the new covenant.
Paul is looking at the roman church who is dealing with what sin is, the freedom from the yoke of the law, but also the yoke of grace because of God's only begotten Son that whosoever would not be condemn but have everylasting life if they would only believe. Is the knowledge of sin death. The knowledge of sin is death, but the knowledge of not sin is equally death? We are born under the law of man, how many of us break the law. How many have broken at least one school rule and got in trouble for it and paid with some form of correction. Whether it be suspension or detention, or writing hundred times the rule we broke that we would not do it again.
There is point God by sending his Son took away our justified punishment when we sin, establishing only the obedience to him important through Christ Jesus and the Holy Spirit. Yet when we fail we have advocator through Christ Jesus, who by the cross covered our sin from God. Christ in the incorruptible body separated by heaven's door, but not by the word of God or the Spirit of God, who teach man all things.
England needed allies that said I going to back your decision to go against the strong force. I not going to let your fail your mission, and with support from allies England stood their ground in the world. America continue to help push the enemy back across Europe. If you know not sin is the enemy you can not push back, if you know the enemy of evil is strong you need a strong force to win against the enemy called sin, that is God. We fight sin first with the victor of sin who is Christ Jesus, and we fight continual by obedience to the Holy Spirit so sin does not consume us or cheapen the cross of Jesus. Our war is against our own sin and sin that corrupts and destroy society. Our war is against any government that would obstruct our freedom in our own country.
Countdown Day 19 I thank God through Christ Jesus my Lord that sin will not reign.
Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for each soldier that gone before us to fight to maintain our freedoms, but also those in Christ and before Christ that held to the word of God to spread it to the people the truth of the law of God. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

13 And it came to pass on the morrow, that Moses sat to judge the people: and the people stood by Moses from the morning unto the evening.
14 And when Moses' father in law saw all that he did to the people, he said, What is this thing that thou doest to the people? why sittest thou thyself alone, and all the people stand by thee from morning unto even?
15 And Moses said unto his father in law, Because the people come unto me to enquire of God:
16 When they have a matter, they come unto me; and I judge between one and another, and I do make them know the statutes of God, and his laws.
17 And Moses' father in law said unto him, The thing that thou doest is not good.
18 Thou wilt surely wear away, both thou, and this people that is with thee: for this thing is too heavy for thee; thou art not able to perform it thyself alone.
19 Hearken now unto my voice, I will give thee counsel, and God shall be with thee: Be thou for the people to God-ward, that thou mayest bring the causes unto God:
20 And thou shalt teach them ordinances and laws, and shalt shew them the way wherein they must walk, and the work that they must do.
21 Moreover thou shalt provide out of all the people able men, such as fear God, men of truth, hating covetousness; and place such over them, to be rulers of thousands, and rulers of hundreds, rulers of fifties, and rulers of tens:
22 And let them judge the people at all seasons: and it shall be, that every great matter they shall bring unto thee, but every small matter they shall judge: so shall it be easier for thyself, and they shall bear the burden with thee.
23 If thou shalt do this thing, and God command thee so, then thou shalt be able to endure, and all this people shall also go to their place in peace.
24 So Moses hearkened to the voice of his father in law, and did all that he had said.
Hebrews 3:12-15 KJV
12 Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God.
13 But exhort one another daily, while it is called To day; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin.
14 For we are made partakers of Christ, if we hold the beginning of our confidence stedfast unto the end;
15 While it is said, To day if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts, as in the provocation.
