God's Blessings In The Early Church: Lesson 9
5/10/2022

Daily Devotions:
by Christina Farris

Acts 3:11-26;4:1-4KJV
11 And as the lame man which was healed held Peter and John, all the people ran together unto them in the porch that is called Solomon's, greatly wondering.
12 And when Peter saw it, he answered unto the people, Ye men of Israel, why marvel ye at this? or why look ye so earnestly on us, as though by our own power or holiness we had made this man to walk?
13 The God of Abraham, and of Isaac, and of Jacob, the God of our fathers, hath glorified his Son Jesus; whom ye delivered up, and denied him in the presence of Pilate, when he was determined to let him go.
14 But ye denied the Holy One and the Just, and desired a murderer to be granted unto you;
15 And killed the Prince of life, whom God hath raised from the dead; whereof we are witnesses.
16 And his name through faith in his name hath made this man strong, whom ye see and know: yea, the faith which is by him hath given him this perfect soundness in the presence of you all.
17 And now, brethren, I wot that through ignorance ye did it, as did also your rulers.
18 But those things, which God before had shewed by the mouth of all his prophets, that Christ should suffer, he hath so fulfilled.
19 Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord;
20 And he shall send Jesus Christ, which before was preached unto you:
21 Whom the heaven must receive until the times of restitution of all things, which God hath spoken by the mouth of all his holy prophets since the world began.
22 For Moses truly said unto the fathers, A prophet shall the Lord your God raise up unto you of your brethren, like unto me; him shall ye hear in all things whatsoever he shall say unto you.
23 And it shall come to pass, that every soul, which will not hear that prophet, shall be destroyed from among the people.
24 Yea, and all the prophets from Samuel and those that follow after, as many as have spoken, have likewise foretold of these days.
25 Ye are the children of the prophets, and of the covenant which God made with our fathers, saying unto Abraham, And in thy seed shall all the kindreds of the earth be blessed.
26 Unto you first God, having raised up his Son Jesus, sent him to bless you, in turning away every one of you from his iniquities.

1 And as they spake unto the people, the priests, and the captain of the temple, and the Sadducees, came upon them,
2 Being grieved that they taught the people, and preached through Jesus the resurrection from the dead.
3 And they laid hands on them, and put them in hold unto the next day: for it was now eventide.
4 Howbeit many of them which heard the word believed; and the number of the men was about five thousand.

You either believe the story the crippled man was healed or you simply believe it was a hoax by the disciples. The truth of the fact that man was known in the community probably helps with the evidence that this cripple man was healed. Yet even helps more that over five thousand men believed that heard the word preached by Peter. Peter starts with his sermon telling the people this man is not healed by his or John power, but the same power of the Holy Spirit that spoke to Abraham and the forefather's of their people. He also told how Jesus came and that they killed him. The problem with reading this story for future generation is how did we kill the Prince of Life who God raised from the dead.

The Prince of Life being Christ, but is a reference in the Old Testament(I Kings 11:29-12:19) to the time of Rebohoam. When the chief royal name Adoram was stoned, he collect taxes or payment for crime or sin. Paying a price for Rehoboam. Rehoboam would rule over Jerusalem and not all of the kingdom of Israel, ten tribes would go with Jeroboam as divided by the prophet instructed by God that spoke to Rehoboam the son of King Solomon. Christ being the Chief royal of the one that committed the crime in the insurrection leading to death(Barabbas, son of the High Priest). The title of tributary, one that was a task master or place a levy upon the people. Remember Christ saying his burden is yoke is light. What was his yoke to believe in him, and to love one another. the yoke of the law of Jerusalem. People choose Jesus over the yoke of Jerusalem, making Christ the Prince of life. Meaning the branch of receiving eternal life, because this was spiritual task and not task of legal law like the law Romans had over Israel. The role of Rehoboam not being removed from Jerusalem, until the time of Christ, who lived in the Northern kingdom and took the spiritual power of the ten kingdoms, leaving Israel to her law. Being mother of faith because of the spiritual laws, ten commandments given to Moses. Full law summon up in the law of love which is what Christ instructs.

This Jesus who they crucified in Jerusalem, God raised up and made him a name of above all other names. And this name Jesus was the authority that healed this man that was crippled. Also has if Peter said don't be upset or dismay that you crucified Jesus because simply this was spoken by the old time prophets that it would happen. In other words Christ death and resurrection happened by the will of God and not the will of man, though man performed the actions of the crucifixion.

Those that heard the prophets, believed and obeyed the prophets of God lived and those same prophets testified of the one crucified that it would happen, those same prophets that they believed and they were from Jewish ancestors. Those that are not Jewish how did you family persecute Jesus. They persecute the word of life the Prince of life, the God of Israel and the land people of Israel, who were to be the carriers of the building block of faith. Two groups of people both Jew and Gentile persecuting God and his Son, making the world guilty of the crime of deny God's power and Christ name. Was the crime unworship ever unpardonable, the answer is no. Christ came to redeem anyone Jew or Gentile for them to become a child of God through faith in his word and obedience to his word. The yoke being applied as obedience to the task master our resurrected Lord. Task Master law is faith, love and hope. Hope being in eternal life, faith being in God Father, Son and Holy Spirit, and love being all three powers as one meaning God is love.

As the religious leaders heard Peter talking about the ancestors they came to see the commotion and took John and Peter, and placed them behind bars. Despite they were locked up, the church grew that day. 5000 people believed Peter's words and receive Christ that day and the church grew. That is the blessing of the increase in the church. The increase of people that believed what God had done for them, by sending his Son to die for them and to resurrect. There are many things Jewish people and students of Old Testament would of known like who was the Prince of life and so forth. To those not knowing the Prince of life would just be another name of Jesus. Is it enough without knowing Old Testament scripture, it is, but it makes the passage more meaniful to understand a deeper portion of information being preached.

It is a little hard to fully grasp it all, but the basics is to know Christ came to die for our sins, and paid that price on the cross, and God himself raised Jesus back up to give us the hope of eternal life with him. Is this enough. The answer is on this side of eternity it will have to be, yet God word has not ceased in our world. God's still speaks to individuals of faith, both men and women, boys and girls. He speaks to our hearts if we will listen to him.

Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for your Son the Prince of Life, the one that is our task master for our eternity. Our task is to love and to believe. Help us Lord in unbelief and help us to love has you loved us and sent your Son to die for us. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

Continual Scripture Study: Matthew 11:28-30 KJV
28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.
30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

1 Kings 11:29-43; 12:1-19 KJV
29 And it came to pass at that time when Jeroboam went out of Jerusalem, that the prophet Ahijah the Shilonite found him in the way; and he had clad himself with a new garment; and they two were alone in the field:
30 And Ahijah caught the new garment that was on him, and rent it in twelve pieces:
31 And he said to Jeroboam, Take thee ten pieces: for thus saith the LORD, the God of Israel, Behold, I will rend the kingdom out of the hand of Solomon, and will give ten tribes to thee:
32 (But he shall have one tribe for my servant David's sake, and for Jerusalem's sake, the city which I have chosen out of all the tribes of Israel:)
33 Because that they have forsaken me, and have worshipped Ashtoreth the goddess of the Zidonians, Chemosh the god of the Moabites, and Milcom the god of the children of Ammon, and have not walked in my ways, to do that which is right in mine eyes, and to keep my statutes and my judgments, as did David his father.
34 Howbeit I will not take the whole kingdom out of his hand: but I will make him prince all the days of his life for David my servant's sake, whom I chose, because he kept my commandments and my statutes:
35 But I will take the kingdom out of his son's hand, and will give it unto thee, even ten tribes.
36 And unto his son will I give one tribe, that David my servant may have a light alway before me in Jerusalem, the city which I have chosen me to put my name there.
37 And I will take thee, and thou shalt reign according to all that thy soul desireth, and shalt be king over Israel.
38 And it shall be, if thou wilt hearken unto all that I command thee, and wilt walk in my ways, and do that is right in my sight, to keep my statutes and my commandments, as David my servant did; that I will be with thee, and build thee a sure house, as I built for David, and will give Israel unto thee.
39 And I will for this afflict the seed of David, but not for ever.
40 Solomon sought therefore to kill Jeroboam. And Jeroboam arose, and fled into Egypt, unto Shishak king of Egypt, and was in Egypt until the death of Solomon.
41 And the rest of the acts of Solomon, and all that he did, and his wisdom, are they not written in the book of the acts of Solomon?
42 And the time that Solomon reigned in Jerusalem over all Israel was forty years.
43 And Solomon slept with his fathers, and was buried in the city of David his father: and Rehoboam his son reigned in his stead.

1 And Rehoboam went to Shechem: for all Israel were come to Shechem to make him king.
2 And it came to pass, when Jeroboam the son of Nebat, who was yet in Egypt, heard of it, (for he was fled from the presence of king Solomon, and Jeroboam dwelt in Egypt;)
3 That they sent and called him. And Jeroboam and all the congregation of Israel came, and spake unto Rehoboam, saying,
4 Thy father made our yoke grievous: now therefore make thou the grievous service of thy father, and his heavy yoke which he put upon us, lighter, and we will serve thee.
5 And he said unto them, Depart yet for three days, then come again to me. And the people departed.
6 And king Rehoboam consulted with the old men, that stood before Solomon his father while he yet lived, and said, How do ye advise that I may answer this people?
7 And they spake unto him, saying, If thou wilt be a servant unto this people this day, and wilt serve them, and answer them, and speak good words to them, then they will be thy servants for ever.
8 But he forsook the counsel of the old men, which they had given him, and consulted with the young men that were grown up with him, and which stood before him:
9 And he said unto them, What counsel give ye that we may answer this people, who have spoken to me, saying, Make the yoke which thy father did put upon us lighter?
10 And the young men that were grown up with him spake unto him, saying, Thus shalt thou speak unto this people that spake unto thee, saying, Thy father made our yoke heavy, but make thou it lighter unto us; thus shalt thou say unto them, My little finger shall be thicker than my father's loins.
11 And now whereas my father did lade you with a heavy yoke, I will add to your yoke: my father hath chastised you with whips, but I will chastise you with scorpions.
12 So Jeroboam and all the people came to Rehoboam the third day, as the king had appointed, saying, Come to me again the third day.
13 And the king answered the people roughly, and forsook the old men's counsel that they gave him;
14 And spake to them after the counsel of the young men, saying, My father made your yoke heavy, and I will add to your yoke: my father also chastised you with whips, but I will chastise you with scorpions.
15 Wherefore the king hearkened not unto the people; for the cause was from the LORD, that he might perform his saying, which the LORD spake by Ahijah the Shilonite unto Jeroboam the son of Nebat.
16 So when all Israel saw that the king hearkened not unto them, the people answered the king, saying, What portion have we in David? neither have we inheritance in the son of Jesse: to your tents, O Israel: now see to thine own house, David. So Israel departed unto their tents.
17 But as for the children of Israel which dwelt in the cities of Judah, Rehoboam reigned over them.
18 Then king Rehoboam sent Adoram, who was over the tribute; and all Israel stoned him with stones, that he died. Therefore king Rehoboam made speed to get him up to his chariot, to flee to Jerusalem.
19 So Israel rebelled against the house of David unto this day.
