God's Blessings In The Early Church: Lesson 8 5/09/2022
Daily Devotions: by Christina FarrisActs 3:1-11 KJV
1 Now Peter and John went up together into the temple at the hour of prayer, being the ninth hour.
2 And a certain man lame from his mother's womb was carried, whom they laid daily at the gate of the temple which is called Beautiful, to ask alms of them that entered into the temple;
3 Who seeing Peter and John about to go into the temple asked an alms.
4 And Peter, fastening his eyes upon him with John, said, Look on us.
5 And he gave heed unto them, expecting to receive something of them.
6 Then Peter said, Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk.
7 And he took him by the right hand, and lifted him up: and immediately his feet and ankle bones received strength.
8 And he leaping up stood, and walked, and entered with them into the temple, walking, and leaping, and praising God.
9 And all the people saw him walking and praising God:
10 And they knew that it was he which sat for alms at the Beautiful gate of the temple: and they were filled with wonder and amazement at that which had happened unto him.
11 And as the lame man which was healed held Peter and John, all the people ran together unto them in the porch that is called Solomon's, greatly wondering.
The nineth hour, a good hour to be healed, a good hour to be awaken to the truth of the Gospel of Jesus. John and Peter went to the gate of the temple called Beautiful to pray and a crippled man sat begging for money as they enter in. God's people not begging bread, but giving of the bread of life to the man in need. Are we so absent in our giving of Jesus. The word is give here. He was giving the man the word of healing to his legs and ankles which immediately gained muscles and he was able to stand, walk and leap on his feet once more. He gave him in the name of Jesus, from the healer of our infirmities Jesus the command to rise up and walk.
Let stop there what? The command to rise up and walk in whose name, the name of Jesus. Peter and John in the name of Jesus gave him the power to rise up and walk. The healing power that knitted those muscles and bones back together. If Christ so raised the dead why not the bones and muscles being fixed by just Jesus' name. After all the woman touch the hem of Jesus, and was healed. The hem of his garment on a material based product of our world, how much more powerful is the name of Jesus of Nazareth when it comes to healing even in our world today. His name like the hem, needing on the faith of the ones giving the person the name of Jesus and the healing power to rise up and walk. Jesus alone did the rest in the person life. He gave the man the name of Jesus.
When we ask people to believe, who do we ask people to believe in God and the Son of God whose name is Jesus. What is Christ name(Jesus) yet what do we understand about the name Jesus. That their is power in the name of Jesus. Power to do what, give the authority to be healed, to deliver from demons, and to silence the storm around us. A name that calms our hearts.
I am not saying that you use Jesus name everytime you will see a miracle, some healing is over time, because everything must be done according to God's will in a person's life. Is it God's will to heal you, the answer is yes, but when is it God's will to heal you it will happen not before. This day of healing for this man was that it drew a crowd to which Peter would be preaching too. This man had been crippled for a long time. Is day of healing came when he gave him in the name of Jesus the command to get up and walk.
Stop walking away from the name of Jesus and grab hold of it in your heart. Grab hold of the word of God and the healing word of God, the blessings of God for all believers. If you suffering right now, it maybe for your miracle you are suffering. Who going to believe you been suffering and now are healed without eye witness of both events. Imagine this man coming to the temple daily and never being healed but money had been given to him to take care of his phyical needs. No clue what kind of work he did, or why he sat at the temple and begged, but we know as soon has Jesus healed him through the words of Peter and John he leaped for joy right into and through the temple doors.
The man apparently received what John and Peter was giving him, perhaps he heard about Jesus, perhaps he waited to meet Jesus and then the cross happened. In truth we do not know, but we know he received because the muscles grew strong. Immediately strong enough to leap. Strong enough to express joy. Are we ready to receive what God is offering to give us?
Dear Heavenly Father, I pray for those in need this hour of your touch, of your healing power, your deliverance in a storm. I give them the name of Jesus for their healing, and deliverance. God listen, and no doubt God is able to do more then even I ask, I know Lord your power is to equip the saints of God to testify of you. Lord send them out by the power of your name, In Jesus precious name, Amen.
