The March Through The Gospels: Lesson 25 3/25/2022
Daily Devotions: by Christina FarrisLuke 13:6-9 KJV
6 He spake also this parable; A certain man had a fig tree planted in his vineyard; and he came and sought fruit thereon, and found none.
7 Then said he unto the dresser of his vineyard, Behold, these three years I come seeking fruit on this fig tree, and find none: cut it down; why cumbereth it the ground?
8 And he answering said unto him, Lord, let it alone this year also, till I shall dig about it, and dung it:
9 And if it bear fruit, well: and if not, then after that thou shalt cut it down.
Jesus speaking and I wonder how many know someone like a fig tree this morning? Unproductive, unskilled, unbecoming fruit trees. There are people that are going to either fertilize them or decide they are trash. The word trash is one of those words I personally never want to hear used by others about a living soul. It sad when you see someone's human potential or even your own but have no way of achieving it to its maxium potential. That is the first lie, of no way of achieving one's goaled in life. The second lie was someone assume someone was trash. Many times I seen someone disgarded what they consider trash and thought it had potential to be something else and went to work making it useful. The man tending the garden seen that tree might still having a life that could be fruitful, so he said why not let me dig a ditch around it and fertilize it and see if it grows to his boss.
There are many way to help someone to challenge them so they can reach there full potential if given the right fertilizer to help. Sometimes people need that encouragement to grow, to become, to find a solution to the problem that prevents them from growing as a human being in a positive way. They need a hands up and not always a hand out. Sometimes the hand out and the hand up helps them to grow into their full potential of being fruit producers. How do you get someone to see they got potential? Sometimes a person says all the wrong things and sometimes all the right things. Sometimes people help in all the right ways and yet it produce no fruit because of hardness of heart. Was Pharoah helped into acknowledging the power of God to produce fruit of life? The answer is no. However is God dealing only with Pharoah has king or the nation of Egypt? The nation of Egypt was under judgment. Yet did not God protect Egypt when Joseph was made a ruler who store food for there nation and nation around them, in preparation for a time of famine? Joseph was the grandson of Abraham. This was prophesized to Abraham about his people being in exile 400 years in a land not their own. No one knows the full story but we know that the people were being abused and forced to work in slave fashion and that their children were being killed. Moses was born and rose up to lead his people free from Pharaoh with the wrath of God coming in full force on the nation of Egypt. God revealed himself to Egypt, Egypt never received God has their Lord, and in turn abuse occurred and God revenged his people, who were need of him spiritually has well. Egypt at this time was not producing fruit. Yet God did not cut them off.
At the time of Christ the knowledge of God is flourishing among the gentiles and some of Israel. Yet the time of crucifixion we see the nation turning on Jesus but it would be because of the laws of Rome not just the Jewish court(Sanhendrin). Yet the Jews understood not what authority that Jesus had to do the things he did, because they were blind who Jesus was and to the work of God and will of God for the purpose of Jesus life.
Yet the gentile believers began to produce fruit of the Holy Spirit, and to teach all about Jesus as God's son and the Holy Spirit. Miracles and signs followed the believers. Yes there were Jews that were saved. Two groups of people finding faith merging as one group called Christians. Some sticking to old traditions of the Jewish faith and yet merging their christian faith of the Messiah coming. Gentiles grabbing hold of the gospel having to be educated of the knowledge of God(Father, Son and Holy Spirit).
A fig tree, one that not producing love, faith, hope and so forth needs to be chopped down. Guess who chopping it down, not you, but God. Then he burn it up and destory it. People only judge what they see of a person life which maybe only a few sometimes very stupid moment of a bad day. Whose tree is it anyway? Yours or God's tree? Your job is to water, sow and help others in life, not to put them through your boot camp. Let God put them through his boot camp after they get saved. Fertilize them with the word of God, his salvation plan, who he is, and how to know him. Baptize him with all these things, the rest will fall into place or they will reject not you, but God. You might be all they see to reject at the moment. The reason being because they understand not the ways of God or they just not ready to try and understand who God is. Our job can not be confused with God's job. It is not your job to be God in a person's life. You might be like Jesus if you rescue someone, but you not Jesus, though you be Emmanuel(God is with you). Let us not get lost in who Isaiah' son was, for he called him Emmauel. That another reason perhaps Jews seen Jesus(Immanuel) as only a prophet, yet he was more then just a prophet but a Savior to the world, and the word of God that dwelt with mankind in the flesh. This may of just confused you a little, but hopefully God will provide you with an answer or you study in search of that answer. I not providing extra scripture for it today. Jesus was flourish, his ministry started at age 33. He would produce fruit. However he was Vine, he is the Shepherd and he is a tree growing that bears fruit that will never be cut down and destroyed. Yet branches from his tree will produce or be cut off. The things not of God must be cut out of our life. It painful, but it must be taken care of by God who will prune us and everything in our life that does not produce good fruit. Can we nurture the children of God to help them and others produce fruit by our example, by living for Jesus to produce fruit?
Dear Heavenly Father, you gave each of your children that believe a job to be builders and not people that tear apart. Producer of fruit for your glory and honor. Help us to produce, fertilize our life with your word. In Jesus precious name Amen.

5 Who then is Paul, and who is Apollos, but ministers by whom ye believed, even as the Lord gave to every man?
6 I have planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the increase.
7 So then neither is he that planteth any thing, neither he that watereth; but God that giveth the increase.
8 Now he that planteth and he that watereth are one: and every man shall receive his own reward according to his own labour.
9 For we are labourers together with God: ye are God's husbandry, ye are God's building.
10 According to the grace of God which is given unto me, as a wise masterbuilder, I have laid the foundation, and another buildeth thereon. But let every man take heed how he buildeth thereupon.
11 For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ.
12 Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble;
13 Every man's work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man's work of what sort it is.
14 If any man's work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward.
15 If any man's work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire.
