The March Through The Gospels: Lesson 24 3/24/2022
Daily Devotions: by Christina FarrisLuke 13:1-5 KJV
1 There were present at that season some that told him of the Galilaeans, whose blood Pilate had mingled with their sacrifices.
2 And Jesus answering said unto them, Suppose ye that these Galilaeans were sinners above all the Galilaeans, because they suffered such things?
3 I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.
4 Or those eighteen, upon whom the tower in Siloam fell, and slew them, think ye that they were sinners above all men that dwelt in Jerusalem?
5 I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.
Jesus teaches about the need of repentance, yet he uses man's tragedy to demonstrate both the wrath of God and the cost of sin. It mattered not what the Galileans sin was all Galileans were sinners and fell short of the glory of God. Jesus was speaking to the people that all sin and all fall short of God's glory. That mankind in general sins and we all deserve for that matter the wrath of God. There was tornado on the news the other day, and a man house was destroyed and the house across from him was still standing. The man died and his truck was demolished. This scenerio of destruction by a tornadoes is not unusual. However was the person any worse a sinner then the neighbor whose house stood. No one knows the answer but God, but the point being it could of happened to his neighbor has well. No man no person is exempt from tragedy. Eighteen people died when a tower fell at the pool of Siloam. The pool of Siloam a place of spiritual cleaning, a place of cleaning the laundry, a place of healing, a place to purify inside the city. This tragedy happened where those under the wall more a sinner then any other. No we all deserve the wall of the tower to fall on us, but yet that not why the wall fell. It fell because of engineering problem probably. It is not how clean you are, tragedy still happens.
It commonly thought that tragedy was because of sin. There are cases were tragedy came because of sin, but not everytime was it because of sin. There is time when we like to see the condemnation come to people because of their sin, because we angry at the situation before us that was caused by someone. Those emotions are human. Yet in some cases those tragedies truly are an act of God, and if it is judgment then we have to understand the tragedy could or should of befallen us because of our sinful state of anger or desire for even revenge of God to fall on another. The truth be do we want the wrath of God to come on the life of anyone? Is what we desire for others God's mercy and correction so his light can shine forth in the people who for years have turned away from God and are then brought forth into the marvelous light of Christ that we too have been brough into?
The desire to see everyone saved comes with a price tag of our own sacrifice of endurance in this world. Meaning we have to live with the consequences of someone sin on our life, only for them to repent and go on their merry way or even continue in our life as a friend or family member. Where is the line drawn of what sin is tolerated, forgiven without changing the even flow of society? Do you love the thief? Do you love the parent or stranger despite abuse physical or sexual, an act as if nothing happened. How much crime murder, theft, bullying, gossip and more does a person have to say "I forgive and I will continue to forgive you and allow you to be in my world"? The the question is still raised if you draw a line for what purpose? Could a slave tell a master no more, could a innocent person sent to dungeon by the king, change his predictament or forgive the suffering done by a leader.
Where is a line drawn when you removed from the corruption or situation? Can you remain without change? Can you endure a few more days, weeks, months, or years? Can you see the promise of hope with the image of a rainbow. I seen somewhere online the other day Mars has rainbows too. Does that matter to Bible people, perhaps. Christ says his yoke is light. Do you wonder if he really meant what he said if you are the one being fire upon. The answer is more of what yoke is he speaking about. Being a Mayrter for Jesus does not sound easy, being the ball that everyone hits with a racket, or baseball bat does not sound to nice. Persecution is one of those things one day it is about someone religion, tomorrow it is what color shoes he wears and if he has green eyes or blue. Racism, bigotry, hate, and abuse has no relationship to what you personally believe, it is an attack against a group of people that are angry because someone either hurt them, or they need psychologically to hate someone because they could. Evil crimes has no lines. Today it might be you and tomorrow someone else. However love has a yoke of its own to love others has Christ loved us.
Can we look at the cross and see that our sin took him to the cross? How many times have we in our own life rejected Jesus as Lord. Someone might say I received Christ from the day I heard, how can you say I reject him. From the time before salvation to the time after salvation we all continue to reject Christ(The Word of God) in our life one does not obey the Spirit of God, and obeys not the word of God. We all stand in guilt and must repent of sin. Christ blood is covering the righteous(believer) sin so God no longer sees our sin, but our desire to obey Him. The sinner without faith has not a redemption story. No understanding of God's grace or mercy. They only stand in their sin, to not understnad the need of salvation. Each sinner after belief must repent of sin, and go through the continual process of turn away from sin. I ask if there was a line to another person sin on another human? There times for safety sake lines must be drawn. God drew a line with Cain and yet he marked him not has his child but a child who chose sin and desire to disobey God was greater then his desire to obey God. Cain protected but out of God's sight. God's children upon faith in Christ Jesus, desire to obey God, but our humanity sometimes causes us to sin. Yet it should not be one's desire to sin. In our humanity for the moment we enjoy sin to only repent of sin in sack cloth and ashes. Our sin being the one thing we desire not and we fight with God's Spirit to not sin against God, but he enables us to not be children of unbelief. Only children that struggle against disobedience to him.
Dear Heavenly Father, your wrath comes to children of disobedience, but not every problem is caused by your wrath. Help us not to be judgmental of another action beyong the law to protect and serve, but be mineful to love as you loved us by sending your Son to die on the cross for our sins. In Jesus precious name, Amen.
Continual Scripture Study: Ephesians 6:5-10 KJV
5 Servants, be obedient to them that are your masters according to the flesh, with fear and trembling, in singleness of your heart, as unto Christ;
6 Not with eyeservice, as menpleasers; but as the servants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart;
7 With good will doing service, as to the Lord, and not to men:
8 Knowing that whatsoever good thing any man doeth, the same shall he receive of the Lord, whether he be bond or free.
9 And, ye masters, do the same things unto them, forbearing threatening: knowing that your Master also is in heaven; neither is there respect of persons with him.
10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.
