The March Through The Gospels: Lesson 16
3/16/2022

Daily Devotions:
by Christina Farris

Luke 9:1-6 KJV
1 Then he called his twelve disciples together, and gave them power and authority over all devils, and to cure diseases.
2 And he sent them to preach the kingdom of God, and to heal the sick.
3 And he said unto them, Take nothing for your journey, neither staves, nor scrip, neither bread, neither money; neither have two coats apiece.
4 And whatsoever house ye enter into, there abide, and thence depart.
5 And whosoever will not receive you, when ye go out of that city, shake off the very dust from your feet for a testimony against them.
6 And they departed, and went through the towns, preaching the gospel, and healing every where.

I remember Columbine, Colorado a school shooting April 1999, most that were alive then were horrorified at the picture not believing our eyes that it had occurred in our nation. Yet what will stick in my mind the little girl that love Jesus that testified one more time to one of the shooters. She had no assault weapon like the boy did, but she had Jesus. She needed no weapons of war to tell someone else about Jesus. She needed not a weapon to get her point across to the rest of the world that would hear her story and the testimony it left those with that were left behind. We can not deny that in our world ammunition does kill, bombs kill, weapons of war kill, what we can not deny is when we hear about the power of Jesus, we wanting to know what, can he stop a bullet, can he prevent a bomb from going off and can he stop a train. Then the question why should God intervene in man's life at the hour of darkenness if he did not do it for his Son. When we testify in that hour believe me someone will remember and yes God is going to use it as prick, a thorn to open your heart to receive. If God saved not why then should we hold to the power of healing of diseases, and salvation. That why some leave the church world behind because of a lack of God's power being evident to the naked eye. Yet something is happening in the hearts of man that see the death, destruction and people that seem to have no reason to have hope, have hope in eterity. For someone to testify must be insane, or there is something to the power of God that does not intervene in all situations.

Disciples are sent by Jesus in twos to villages in surrounding areas. And over 70 disciples did Jesus give the power of God to ask in his name(Jesus) to heal the sick and afflicted. He he tells them to take nothing else with them on their journey. Either there got to be something real happening or seventy went out as beggars and where able to gather people together in large crowds without to much trouble to hear Jesus. Something was happening in Israel. A revival of Jews and Gentiles was occurring. Gathering to hear God's word in modern language and to see the blind and lame healed along with many diseases.

Something had to be happening for those disciples obeyed Jesus. You need no mind control to get people to change, all you need is Jesus saving power. That my friend is power seen clearly in his day, but today God's healing power continues on through prayer. No one can stop God in the revolution of faith, it not about guns, amunition but about love and God's saving grace. The movie I watch last night left out something they were not talking about the power of God anointing children, or even them, they were starting a chanting ritual of speaking in tongues, without explanation or helping the kids to understand truth from God's word. Watch out for this new age teaching. I not against speaking in tongues, make sure it not formulated on command for all to speak in tongues, or in fashion of the game Simeon sez. Mind munipulation, Tongues should come by God's Spirit not by our own manifestation of it, or to use in the ability of interpretation to understanding of what is said. God wants church world to clarify the use of tongues because it causing paroting and not really language or cooing of the heart through the tears of the one praying. Hannah was the interpretator of her praying, not the priest. He had not a clue, and he was not his evil sons, Eli was a good priest but his children were evil. He had a heart for God but he did not interpret Hannah, and so Hannah told of her prayer to the priest who thought she was a harlot and drunkard in the sanctionary and had rebuked her. She spoke plan to him of her heart for a child and God spoke to Eli she would have children. She gave birth to the son Samuel and on his sixth birthday he went to the temple to live with Priest Eli, because he would be gift and dedicated to God's service. Samuel would become a Prophet chosen by God.

The power that reigned down from heaven was God's Spirit on the disciple on the day of Pentecost. And yet Peter preached a sermon, and disciples spoke in other languages that different ones understood and many people got saved. When Jesus sent seventy out, it was to see souls saved and the power of God resurrected in those villages they went into. It would of been in those villages that receives the disciples let us go see this man they keep telling us about. Let us decide for ourselves if we believe he is the Christ. This ability to heal being poured out at the time of Christ, and yet in our age we still need doctors? No we need Jesus power in our world today, interacting with the saints so when they pray in the name of Jesus, they will see the power of the Holy Spirit heal the sick and afflicted. The need for physician will always be, because Jesus himself spoke there would be. Something need not God in the same way a miracle is needed in our land in our village and so forth. There things we can do for ourselves because God allowed man to understand the human body and how it works. He gave that gift to the doctors. What is your gift. Doctoring is a gift he gave to all groups of people. It like how to harvest, how to plant food is a general need to know. It why we have ministers today people called to the pulpit, writers, missionaries they are trained for ministry work. Yet we all called to minister to those in need.

Jesus call on seventy allowed for them to collect whatever what given to take care of there needs and the needs of others that were in want. Yet we only see the power of the seventy going forth with the power of God to heal, but rest assured all the elements are there, for Jesus was sending them forth training them to continue to share about Him and his Father God. The preaching of repentance and forgiveness. The true Gospel message is about salvation. That the Kingdom of heaven is at hand.

Dear Heavenly Father train your people to be evangelist for you and not parrots but people of faith and hope, people who understand the power they have through prayer in Jesus name and the power to preach repentance, forgiveness and love. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

Continual Scripture Study: Acts 2:1-41 KJV
1 And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.
2 And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting.
3 And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them.
4 And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.
5 And there were dwelling at Jerusalem Jews, devout men, out of every nation under heaven.
6 Now when this was noised abroad, the multitude came together, and were confounded, because that every man heard them speak in his own language.
7 And they were all amazed and marvelled, saying one to another, Behold, are not all these which speak Galilaeans?
8 And how hear we every man in our own tongue, wherein we were born?
9 Parthians, and Medes, and Elamites, and the dwellers in Mesopotamia, and in Judaea, and Cappadocia, in Pontus, and Asia,
10 Phrygia, and Pamphylia, in Egypt, and in the parts of Libya about Cyrene, and strangers of Rome, Jews and proselytes,
11 Cretes and Arabians, we do hear them speak in our tongues the wonderful works of God.
12 And they were all amazed, and were in doubt, saying one to another, What meaneth this?
13 Others mocking said, These men are full of new wine.
14 But Peter, standing up with the eleven, lifted up his voice, and said unto them, Ye men of Judaea, and all ye that dwell at Jerusalem, be this known unto you, and hearken to my words:
15 For these are not drunken, as ye suppose, seeing it is but the third hour of the day.
16 But this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel;
17 And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams:
18 And on my servants and on my handmaidens I will pour out in those days of my Spirit; and they shall prophesy:
19 And I will shew wonders in heaven above, and signs in the earth beneath; blood, and fire, and vapour of smoke:
20 The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before that great and notable day of the Lord come:
21 And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved.
22 Ye men of Israel, hear these words; Jesus of Nazareth, a man approved of God among you by miracles and wonders and signs, which God did by him in the midst of you, as ye yourselves also know:
23 Him, being delivered by the determinate counsel and foreknowledge of God, ye have taken, and by wicked hands have crucified and slain:
24 Whom God hath raised up, having loosed the pains of death: because it was not possible that he should be holden of it.
25 For David speaketh concerning him, I foresaw the Lord always before my face, for he is on my right hand, that I should not be moved:
26 Therefore did my heart rejoice, and my tongue was glad; moreover also my flesh shall rest in hope:
27 Because thou wilt not leave my soul in hell, neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption.
28 Thou hast made known to me the ways of life; thou shalt make me full of joy with thy countenance.
29 Men and brethren, let me freely speak unto you of the patriarch David, that he is both dead and buried, and his sepulchre is with us unto this day.
30 Therefore being a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn with an oath to him, that of the fruit of his loins, according to the flesh, he would raise up Christ to sit on his throne;
31 He seeing this before spake of the resurrection of Christ, that his soul was not left in hell, neither his flesh did see corruption.
32 This Jesus hath God raised up, whereof we all are witnesses.
33 Therefore being by the right hand of God exalted, and having received of the Father the promise of the Holy Ghost, he hath shed forth this, which ye now see and hear.
34 For David is not ascended into the heavens: but he saith himself, The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand,
35 Until I make thy foes thy footstool.
36 Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God hath made that same Jesus, whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ.
37 Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do?
38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
39 For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.
40 And with many other words did he testify and exhort, saying, Save yourselves from this untoward generation.
41 Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls.
