The March Through The Gospels: Lesson 15 3/15/2022
Daily Devotions: by Christina FarrisMatthew 7:1-5 KJV
1 Judge not, that ye be not judged.
2 For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again.
3 And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?
4 Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me pull out the mote out of thine eye; and, behold, a beam is in thine own eye?
5 Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother's eye.
Do you murder? Do you bear false witness? Do you lie? Do you cheat? Did I judge you? No I asked you question. There is difference when asking a question and condemning a person. If I talk about alcoholism, drugs, murder, man slaughter, theft, gossip, envy, and all types of sin, it still not judgment beyond the fact that God calls these things sin and most of mankind does, until they commit these acts of sin. A person is seldom guilt in his own eyes until God by the Holy Spirit shows him his guilt. Kids feel guilty of many things trying to please their parents, but seldom as adults do adults feel guilt beyond which God himself judges the heart by. Why because as an adult we become less people pleasers and do exactly as we please unless it bears harm to another. Then we might not feel guilt over harming another, why? We are condition to do as we please with no thought of consequences for action, even if the world stones a person with words and actions of abuse.
Jesus taught on hill sides, in the synagogues and temple and so forth, where ever opportunity presented itself, this is part of scripture called the sermon on the mount, it starts a chapter or so over with what called the Beautitudes. Beautitudes deal with nothing but blessings to a believer/children of God and speaking of their reward as believers. A day is coming when God will judge the world by Christ Jesus. Yet the judge here is about us as people judging others for what they do. Do we judge and play God or do we show mercy. Most would say mercy on many things, but not murder or things that cause murder. Things that take freedom from another because someone decides to be God or godlike in their own mindset. People are merciful even more then 7x77, because Jesus says not to judge and to forgive. God even forgave murder of his Son. Does no judgment mean there never judgment and if there is judgment is it based on our laws or a kangeroo court? I am one person that not against a trial when it comes to criminal activity, even if I can pay a lawyer. What is my point? What do we judge by our own actions, by the laws established to protect society, or is judgment personal choices of do's and don'ts? Where is the line drawn and never placed. If at all possible can we show the same mercy God has for man. If we did we would one allow murder?
The question comes with where is judgment okay, what did Jesus teach, to remove the log out of your own eye, before trying to remove it from a brother. The question is what is the log but sin, sin that manifested in a person either by sight or action. Jesus is not saying do not preach/teach against sin, he saying do not remove it from someone elses eye before you remove it from your own eyes first. Can the blind lead the blind. They can but they need some type of tool or dog to lead them in territories unknown to them. But a blind person can not lead another blind person without something or someone to guide them.
Our mix up is not with enablity to see, if we blind we can not judge by what we see not or know not. What we know we become a judge of it all. The world judges and God will judge the world, but our sin is covered by the blood of the Lamb, then God's judgment is not on his children but on those that are not his children, and that why the gates of hell are wide open. Beware about hypocrisy in judgment. If you have sin and you talk about sin, realize it going to smack you if you pointing at someone elses sin. Maybe not a physical smack but a spiritual smack. A warning of your own sin and the judgment it calls for. Where is the line drawn in judgment? It is drawn already to leave it to God to judge, but it also returned to us by the laws the Holy Spirit establishes on our hearts. We judge ourselves first of those laws and then we examine the evil within our communities and nation and decide if it a road we really want to judge, because to do so leads to some form of punishment that we ourselves must face if judge by those same laws or ideas we impose on another. Beware to judge is not mercy, but to judge with mercy is the grace to say I am a sinner also and must be corrected by God and his word too.
Dear Heavenly Father, help us not to be the hyprocit to our own judging, but to recognize our fralities as humans to sin, either by choice, reaction or temptation. Enable us to be merciful people and not people of judgment. In Jesus precious name, Amen.
Continual Scripture Study: Luke 6:36-42 KJV
36 Be ye therefore merciful, as your Father also is merciful.
37 Judge not, and ye shall not be judged: condemn not, and ye shall not be condemned: forgive, and ye shall be forgiven:
38 Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.
39 And he spake a parable unto them, Can the blind lead the blind? shall they not both fall into the ditch?
40 The disciple is not above his master: but every one that is perfect shall be as his master.
41 And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but perceivest not the beam that is in thine own eye?
42 Either how canst thou say to thy brother, Brother, let me pull out the mote that is in thine eye, when thou thyself beholdest not the beam that is in thine own eye? Thou hypocrite, cast out first the beam out of thine own eye, and then shalt thou see clearly to pull out the mote that is in thy brother's eye.
