The March Through The Gospels: Lesson 13
3/13/2022

Daily Devotions:
by Christina Farris

John 4:30-42 KJV
30 Then they went out of the city, and came unto him.
31 In the mean while his disciples prayed him, saying, Master, eat.
32 But he said unto them, I have meat to eat that ye know not of.
33 Therefore said the disciples one to another, Hath any man brought him ought to eat?
34 Jesus saith unto them, My meat is to do the will of him that sent me, and to finish his work.
35 Say not ye, There are yet four months, and then cometh harvest? behold, I say unto you, Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they are white already to harvest.
36 And he that reapeth receiveth wages, and gathereth fruit unto life eternal: that both he that soweth and he that reapeth may rejoice together.
37 And herein is that saying true, One soweth, and another reapeth.
38 I sent you to reap that whereon ye bestowed no labour: other men laboured, and ye are entered into their labours.
39 And many of the Samaritans of that city believed on him for the saying of the woman, which testified, He told me all that ever I did.
40 So when the Samaritans were come unto him, they besought him that he would tarry with them: and he abode there two days.
41 And many more believed because of his own word;
42 And said unto the woman, Now we believe, not because of thy saying: for we have heard him ourselves, and know that this is indeed the Christ, the Saviour of the world.

To finish out the story of the Samaritan woman, we find her village came out to see Jesus and even asked him to stay with them, and he did for two days. He did not have to do a miracle they believed he was the Christ by what he spoke. It does not say all he spoke those two days, but what important, is when the women went back to get her village the disciples came to Jesus and wanted to know what he had eaten. He had no meat but the word of God he spoke to the woman and soon her village. His work and food was meat to his very soul. We do not think what God feeds on or his Son, but when we read this passage we can see God feeds on the meat he provides the human soul, the meat of his word bring life to the hearer the believes. It is almost like taking a plug and plugging it in and the vaccum comes on with a roar and begins to suck the lies and filth of the world right away from the lives who need God. Jesus removes the filth of life right out of the world and it feeds his soul, because he knows how much truth is useful and healing to people souls. Jesus is touched by our healing through truth and love. It a full course meal to him. Where does the filth of sin, lies and evil go, but into the sea of forgetfulness, another verse and chapter, time to do a search, go ahead. Your homework.

There are those the reap and those that sow. Jesus is a sower of eternal life. Sometimes death is spoken by God's people. It can be eerie and also a time of rejoicing when one is saved others know they will see their hope of heaven. That can be mask as sheep in wolves clothing, but not when you at those final stages of death there is no faking it. Just like seed being planted bringing forth life and fruit it brings rejoicing or elation that one more made a choice for Christ or a choice in bearing fruit for Jesus, the decision to love, to spread hope, to show more patience to another, and so forth to bring forth truth of hope and love of God to one more in needing this hope of God's grace. The ministers/disciples of God labor for what they do not sow, nor the life that is taken in the reaping. The disciple job is to shine the light of Christ. This my friends feed the believers heart and soul, just like a good deed feeds the soul of do giver, sharing Christ light feeds the soul of the minister. It not about the deep study but the word of life that is given to another who receives it joyfully and sometimes even with deep searching of truth.

Christ spoke of his death, and no doubt the time of cross the fear, came with his crucifixion, and yet it was all removed with his resurrection. The light of God's word when fully realized brings hope and peace. It brings love knowing eternity is at the sound of the trumpet and upon the death of believer, and yet we must bear our cross of our own life in the world we live in. That cross is to cling to the hope of Christ while living and being a witness for Christ as labors with God. Disciples knew not where the food Christ received, but they knew what was to labor with Jesus. Knew the fruit of the labor, and that the journey was worth it all, to see one sinner saved, one lost soul brought to repentance before God.

The joy of the church should be to see one soul saved, the joy of God's people needs to be the love given even in places where there is little light of Christ. Most of us can not imagine a place without love and kindness, but these places exist. Where evil seems to reign and God's light seems deem. Yet God's light through the word truth grows, through showing love, the light of God can grow. The light Christ grew in Samaria upon belief that He was the Messiah. Jesus took time in the village before going homeward.

Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for the seed you plant in our hearts, your precious word, let it manifest in our hearts and our life. The fruit of your word means a job well done, that our labor is not vain. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

Continual Scripture Study: 1 Corinthians 1:17-31 KJV
17 For Christ sent me not to baptize, but to preach the gospel: not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made of none effect.
18 For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.
19 For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent.
20 Where is the wise? where is the scribe? where is the disputer of this world? hath not God made foolish the wisdom of this world?
21 For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe.
22 For the Jews require a sign, and the Greeks seek after wisdom:
23 But we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a stumblingblock, and unto the Greeks foolishness;
24 But unto them which are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God.
25 Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men; and the weakness of God is stronger than men.
26 For ye see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called:
27 But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty;
28 And base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are:
29 That no flesh should glory in his presence.
30 But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption:
31 That, according as it is written, He that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord.
