The March Through The Gospels: Lesson 8
3/8/2022

Daily Devotions:
by Christina Farris

Mark 2:1-12 KJV
1 And again he entered into Capernaum after some days; and it was noised that he was in the house.
2 And straightway many were gathered together, insomuch that there was no room to receive them, no, not so much as about the door: and he preached the word unto them.
3 And they come unto him, bringing one sick of the palsy, which was borne of four.
4 And when they could not come nigh unto him for the press, they uncovered the roof where he was: and when they had broken it up, they let down the bed wherein the sick of the palsy lay.
5 When Jesus saw their faith, he said unto the sick of the palsy, Son, thy sins be forgiven thee.
6 But there were certain of the scribes sitting there, and reasoning in their hearts,
7 Why doth this man thus speak blasphemies? who can forgive sins but God only?
8 And immediately when Jesus perceived in his spirit that they so reasoned within themselves, he said unto them, Why reason ye these things in your hearts?
9 Whether is it easier to say to the sick of the palsy, Thy sins be forgiven thee; or to say, Arise, and take up thy bed, and walk?
10 But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power on earth to forgive sins, (he saith to the sick of the palsy,)
11 I say unto thee, Arise, and take up thy bed, and go thy way into thine house.
12 And immediately he arose, took up the bed, and went forth before them all; insomuch that they were all amazed, and glorified God, saying, We never saw it on this fashion.

What would you do for a klondik bar say a commercial on tv from years past. Catch saying, but what the reality of it? What is some you desire enough to go after it. A man with palsey had four friends who desired their friend to be healed and heard about Jesus. No doubt the man with palsy wanted healing too, but I however wonder what he thought when his friends took him up on a roof, that was a probably flat roof, and begin to move the roof away to be lower by his friends to Jesus. The spectacular sight would of cause a hush on the crowd, but Jesus did not rebuke them. Jesus saw their faith and told the man sick with palsey his sins were forgiven. A Scribe ask after consider his own heart who can forgive sin but God. I have to wonder what sin had been committed against either the scribe, or did the scribe know the sin of the young man. Maybe a little understanding, his illness made him unclean to even come in the presents of Jesus or any religious leader for that matter. One has to wonder how an unclean person could ever get better if they could not reach out to someone that could intercede on their behalf to God. Jesus seeing the spiritual struggle this question from the scribe had raised in the hearts of others present. Jesus then asked which is easier to say your sins are forgiven or to get up and walk.

The man arose and walked through them all out of the house that he been lower into. Yet before he could not get through the crowd because they were pressed in to hear Jesus. They were amazed and glorified God, because they never seen this happen before this way. What would you do for a klondik bar or for healing?

How we long for the miracle of faith, to change ever bit of our human suffering in this world. We look at friends and know some of the pain they experience and the pain of others. I can imagine life not as we experience it, or lack of faith as we stand, to have Jesus walk in our presence as a healer, deliver, and one that taught man to live in forgiveness and love. Miracle was done, so forgiveness could be seen as possible, not the other way around. People say I not healed how can I be forgiven, forget not that what Jesus illustrate was forgiveness was possible and proved he had the power to forgive when he did the healing that was visibly seen. Do we loose our sight looking for the miracle of healing, that we can see Jesus proving his power to heal. One can study the miracles but we need to study the reason God delivered on earth and sometimes it is heaven. We might have friends that pray, but are they making a way for you to reach out to the healer. Faith has always brought forgiveness. Are they removing roof so you can be made whole. Beware with suffering the root must be uncovered for it to be removed. Was the man who needed forgiveness, in need of forgiveness? He could not change his friend obsession of getting to where Jesus was. Yet their faith restore the man with forgiveness first and then the miracle of healing.

Dear Heavenly Father, your time, your mercy, your forgiveness is all that matters to those in need. They want the hour the time, the mercy will unfold, and yet your forgiveness is granted immediately upon request. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

Continual Scripture Study: Psalm 86:1-17 KJV
1 A Prayer of David. Bow down thine ear, O LORD, hear me: for I am poor and needy.
2 Preserve my soul; for I am holy: O thou my God, save thy servant that trusteth in thee.
3 Be merciful unto me, O Lord: for I cry unto thee daily.
4 Rejoice the soul of thy servant: for unto thee, O Lord, do I lift up my soul.
5 For thou, Lord, art good, and ready to forgive; and plenteous in mercy unto all them that call upon thee.
6 Give ear, O LORD, unto my prayer; and attend to the voice of my supplications.
7 In the day of my trouble I will call upon thee: for thou wilt answer me.
8 Among the gods there is none like unto thee, O Lord; neither are there any works like unto thy works.
9 All nations whom thou hast made shall come and worship before thee, O Lord; and shall glorify thy name. 11 Teach me thy way, O LORD; I will walk in thy truth: unite my heart to fear thy name.
12 I will praise thee, O Lord my God, with all my heart: and I will glorify thy name for evermore.
13 For great is thy mercy toward me: and thou hast delivered my soul from the lowest hell.
14 O God, the proud are risen against me, and the assemblies of violent men have sought after my soul; and have not set thee before them.
15 But thou, O Lord, art a God full of compassion, and gracious, longsuffering, and plenteous in mercy and truth.
16 O turn unto me, and have mercy upon me; give thy strength unto thy servant, and save the son of thine handmaid.
17 Shew me a token for good; that they which hate me may see it, and be ashamed: because thou, LORD, hast holpen me, and comforted me.
