Daily Devotions:
by Christina Farris

Psalm 37:1-40 KJV
1 A Psalm of David. Fret not thyself because of evildoers, neither be thou envious against the workers of iniquity.
2 For they shall soon be cut down like the grass, and wither as the green herb.
3 Trust in the LORD, and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed.
4 Delight thyself also in the LORD; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.
5 Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass.
6 And he shall bring forth thy righteousness as the light, and thy judgment as the noonday.
7 Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass.
8 Cease from anger, and forsake wrath: fret not thyself in any wise to do evil.
9 For evildoers shall be cut off: but those that wait upon the LORD, they shall inherit the earth.
10 For yet a little while, and the wicked shall not be: yea, thou shalt diligently consider his place, and it shall not be.
11 But the meek shall inherit the earth; and shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace.
12 The wicked plotteth against the just, and gnasheth upon him with his teeth.
13 The Lord shall laugh at him: for he seeth that his day is coming.
14 The wicked have drawn out the sword, and have bent their bow, to cast down the poor and needy, and to slay such as be of upright conversation.
15 Their sword shall enter into their own heart, and their bows shall be broken.
16 A little that a righteous man hath is better than the riches of many wicked.
17 For the arms of the wicked shall be broken: but the LORD upholdeth the righteous.
18 The LORD knoweth the days of the upright: and their inheritance shall be for ever.
19 They shall not be ashamed in the evil time: and in the days of famine they shall be satisfied.
20 But the wicked shall perish, and the enemies of the LORD shall be as the fat of lambs: they shall consume; into smoke shall they consume away.
21 The wicked borroweth, and payeth not again: but the righteous sheweth mercy, and giveth.
22 For such as be blessed of him shall inherit the earth; and they that be cursed of him shall be cut off.
23 The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD: and he delighteth in his way.
24 Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down: for the LORD upholdeth him with his hand.
25 I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread.
26 He is ever merciful, and lendeth; and his seed is blessed.
27 Depart from evil, and do good; and dwell for evermore.
28 For the LORD loveth judgment, and forsaketh not his saints; they are preserved for ever: but the seed of the wicked shall be cut off.
29 The righteous shall inherit the land, and dwell therein for ever.
30 The mouth of the righteous speaketh wisdom, and his tongue talketh of judgment.
31 The law of his God is in his heart; none of his steps shall slide.
32 The wicked watcheth the righteous, and seeketh to slay him.
33 The LORD will not leave him in his hand, nor condemn him when he is judged.
34 Wait on the LORD, and keep his way, and he shall exalt thee to inherit the land: when the wicked are cut off, thou shalt see it.
35 I have seen the wicked in great power, and spreading himself like a green bay tree.
36 Yet he passed away, and, lo, he was not: yea, I sought him, but he could not be found.
37 Mark the perfect man, and behold the upright: for the end of that man is peace.
38 But the transgressors shall be destroyed together: the end of the wicked shall be cut off.
39 But the salvation of the righteous is of the LORD: he is their strength in the time of trouble.
40 And the LORD shall help them, and deliver them: he shall deliver them from the wicked, and save them, because they trust in him.

If you read this Psalms you just ate a meal out of Psalms. I read this Psalms and wonder sometimes what else can be said. As much as all humanity struggles in this world, we watch the wicked sometimes achieve things we never will. Yet God blessings on his children remains. We can look around and see the chaos of our world and wonder why evil sometimes abound. Then we realize they fighting to remain in a world that one day will not exist. There fruit, their labor once more will end. What they earn is destroyed.

As a believer to know that the wicked are destroy, that the plots of destruction will not last. I have to ask what about those that believe, God gives us mercy and grace that when we fall, he still watching over us, to aid us and enable us to stand once more. The wicked he laughs at because their time is coming.

We have a God that watches the evil of man verses the believers. Two people but only one group saved. The wicked repent they to will be saved. When the tower of Babel was built to reach God, God mixed up their communication. Caused them chaos. God laughs because they desire to find their own way to communicate with God and the way had already been provided called prayer.

Even I struggle with the reality of scripture at times. What I mean is, to take God's word for it is much harder then to take the word of those that we can see. If someone flashes their headlights on highway probably means a cops is up ahead on the highway and to watch your speed. Yet it does not mean a cop is there, it is to be on the look out for something is ahead that if you speeding you need to slow down. Warning do not go any further without taking a few precaustions. It could even be a traffic accident or animal in the road. However the warning given to all that sees it from that passing motorist. Is it in the handbook of the DMV, I think not. It something that started by someone that cared about those going in the opposite direction then they were. Truckers use their radios to pass on road information but rest of the world only can see by the blinding light of the passing motorist.

Are we believers with a bright light to warn the passerby that God laughing at because of their wickedness, even watching the righteous sometimes fall, but willing to give aid to his people. God knows the people that willful do not desire his ways, everything they do is is confounded by his grace. Yet they still strive and build up and do evil. Why does God confound them, by causing them chaos. the wick only can see the light of his grace because the believers are not begging for bread and are flashing his light of grace to the unbelievers.

This was written before the Exile of Israel. I can not help but think as the believers packed to go into exile, carrying as few belongings as they could manage and think on this Psalms perhaps wondering about their crisis they were in. They had followed the Lord, and were trusting in the Lord, and yet much of the people had turned from God but this small group of believers were going into exile without knowledge of what would befall them. Knowing God mercy to the believer in a crisis in a situation take faith. Believing in God's mercy takes faith.

Spirituality and reality of our world is sometimes different. What does that mean? Is God still our God by faith, is Christ risen? Nothing changed God is still God, Christ has risen, the hope and promise of eternal life is for you and me. Yet the crisis, the struggle the journey of faith seems almost as if at times we are the wicked in trouble when things seem to be off set by disaster, crisis, trouble, pandemics, storms and more. Yet God's people are not forsaken or begging bread. Yet the believer is still standing when the wicked have fallen, because their time is cut short by the trouble of our world we live in. If God is sweeping through the nations of the world in this pandemic he taken believers hom and unbelievers are in hell tonight. Yet those of us that remain know the hope through faith, that what we see is not devastation of our eternity but devastation and destruction of humanity trying to play God in the science world and found out they can not control a virus smaller then a human hand, and larger then life. It only takes one complication from a virus to kill, and some disease in our world less then a drop, just one breath we breath. Yet science is doing their best to control it. God's people are doing their best to believe in God's protection, while others believe only in science. Science will fail one day, but God never fails his people.

The point I trying to make is God's people have a responsibility to share the Gospel of Jesus, because God's mercy is plentiful. His victory is in sight, but we can only see the outline of the big picture with all the straight edges of a puzzle put in place, we do not see the full picture of God's grace in the world in which we live, but we see God's people still waiting for puzzle to be complete and put into the master picture of God grace. Faith on the side of the begining side of exile is not as hard to understand when on the other side of the exile. When we get to heaven our film will make sense, but on this side, we still wonder what exile is all about. What are we learning, what are waiting for is that final puzzle piece to be place so we can go to our eternal home.

If we are on this side of exile going through it in the journey, then we have to realize there is a day of redemption. There is a day of promise. Yet on this side we still got a lot more living. We can not imagine the struggle of slavery, the journey of being force in a land not your own and forced to work for another with a whip, but we can imagine the exile with God that allows us to serve in humility with out the chains and whips of years gone by in the world we live in. The wilderness experience of God's provision in the storm, in the victory dance, because we followed his Son into the valley of the enemy that surround us with his light shining bright through and in us. The beckon of hope being Christ to even the enemy if they will turn and follow him. There wickedness destroyed, their sin gone from them if they only believe. There blinders on for their protection from the light, but God's mercy to all that will reach out to him and recognize what the light of faith truly means. People watching to see if the believer will stand in the storm of faith.

Dear Heavenly Father, help us walk in your light, to shine your word the world that we follow Jesus, that the wicked will know you by the light of faith that is in us. That they will see the hope of eternity within us. That we can lead others to Christ, that the light within us is the savlation they need for their very soul. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

Continual Scripture Study: 2 Corinthians 1:3-7 KJV
3 Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort;
4 Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God.
5 For as the sufferings of Christ abound in us, so our consolation also aboundeth by Christ.
6 And whether we be afflicted, it is for your consolation and salvation, which is effectual in the enduring of the same sufferings which we also suffer: or whether we be comforted, it is for your consolation and salvation.
7 And our hope of you is stedfast, knowing, that as ye are partakers of the sufferings, so shall ye be also of the consolation.
