Daily Devotions:
by Christina Farris

1 Kings 17:1-9 KJV
1 And Elijah the Tishbite, who was of the inhabitants of Gilead, said unto Ahab, As the LORD God of Israel liveth, before whom I stand, there shall not be dew nor rain these years, but according to my word.
2 And the word of the LORD came unto him, saying,
3 Get thee hence, and turn thee eastward, and hide thyself by the brook Cherith, that is before Jordan.
4 And it shall be, that thou shalt drink of the brook; and I have commanded the ravens to feed thee there.
5 So he went and did according unto the word of the LORD: for he went and dwelt by the brook Cherith, that is before Jordan.
6 And the ravens brought him bread and flesh in the morning, and bread and flesh in the evening; and he drank of the brook.
7 And it came to pass after a while, that the brook dried up, because there had been no rain in the land.
8 And the word of the LORD came unto him, saying,
9 Arise, get thee to Zarephath, which belongeth to Zidon, and dwell there: behold, I have commanded a widow woman there to sustain thee.

Obeying God to the point you tell your leader that a drought will come. Not only the drought will come and it be according to God's word spoken to him, and when he speaks it will happen. His word declaring the drought because God has declare it to him, but more importantly Elijah taken the word of God has his own here. Do we take God's word to the point we echo God's word in our own mouth because we are in agreement with God. Most of us would be frighten to declare to a leader a storm, even when it spoken by God almighty who we should fear more. Yet in early years of faith, we learn first hand that God's word must be taken to our heart to believe the possibility so it becomes our own. To say all things are possible with God is hard saying and yet we must believe that to enter into heaven. To believe on the Lord Jesus Christ to be saved.

Elijah faith in God's word was so great, a raven came and feed him as God hid him beside a brook of water. Then God sent him to another place to provide for his needs during the drought. How many have faith this morning in God's provision especially after the pandemic? How many droughts/pandemics do we has people of faith have to walk through to have faith in God? Hopefully none and at the most one. Yet often it takes more storms to learn discipline God has designed for our life. The discipline of faith and the working of miracles in a crisis.

God judgment for Israel did not effect Elijah beyond what he was having to go through as far as for a meal. Having ravens bring him bread and meat and drinking water from a brook. Yet I wonder if this was a place of spiritual comfort for him, to recover from being in the present of a king. Not many can understand fully what he must of felt. Yet his comfort and supply came from the Lord as he watch the little brook he drank from dry up. And then God sent him to another place.

Faith is sometimes trusting when we can not see where provision of supply is coming. God not going to forcast you a drought without provision if you are the one of faith prophesying to the one in need of a drought. A drought to show Ahab what hell would be like if he continue in the way of Baal, worshipping the god of his wife Jezebel. Many prophets were killed by the order of the Queen Jezebel the wife of King Ahab. With this knowledge would you want to be a prophet in the land of Israel. Yet with the boldness God gave Elijah, he went forward in obedience to the word of God to proclaim a drought and then rain once more after the prophets of Baal were destroyed.

To have the boldness of Elijah we must believe God's word to the point it becomes our own word spoken, not for us to be God, but to believe God's word to be truth that we stand upon his word, even if it about destruction, about faith and protection, and about hope for survival.

I started typing this morning over five paragraph and God said delete it. I thought but I have a message already started. Then God said this is what the people need to hear is the hope my word brings to those that will hear, believe and take it to heart and make it their own, to declare it before the unbeliever of faith, knowing I will provide in all circumstances. I do truly believe it. But faith starts with a mustard seed to receive what God says to be true and then to slowly take God's word and receive has not only true but part of who you are because you desire to live by faith that you can boldly proclaim it to even the heathens that God word is true. Elijah never fear what he ate, he went and ate what God provided for him.

Sometimes we eat like kings with steak and eggs, meatloaf sandwiches and other times it lunch meat or beans. Whatever God provides remember it for the nourishment of your body and anything he uses is for your well being and health. Eat it and be thankful to God.

Dear Heavenly Father your word is so precious but we must receive, grab hold of it to be our promise, salvation and hope. Those that need Christ today, need to grab hold of your promise through faith. Lord help them to believe, receive and hold to your Son whose name is Jesus, who is your the evience of your precious word, in Jesus precious name, Amen.

Continual Scripture Study: Matthew 19:23-26 KJV
23 Then said Jesus unto his disciples, Verily I say unto you, That a rich man shall hardly enter into the kingdom of heaven.
24 And again I say unto you, It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.
25 When his disciples heard it, they were exceedingly amazed, saying, Who then can be saved?
26 But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.
