Daily Devotions:
by Christina Farris

Jeremiah 18:1-23 KJV
1 The word which came to Jeremiah from the LORD, saying,
2 Arise, and go down to the potter's house, and there I will cause thee to hear my words.
3 Then I went down to the potter's house, and, behold, he wrought a work on the wheels.
4 And the vessel that he made of clay was marred in the hand of the potter: so he made it again another vessel, as seemed good to the potter to make it.
5 Then the word of the LORD came to me, saying,
6 O house of Israel, cannot I do with you as this potter? saith the LORD. Behold, as the clay is in the potter's hand, so are ye in mine hand, O house of Israel.
7 At what instant I shall speak concerning a nation, and concerning a kingdom, to pluck up, and to pull down, and to destroy it;
8 If that nation, against whom I have pronounced, turn from their evil, I will repent of the evil that I thought to do unto them.
9 And at what instant I shall speak concerning a nation, and concerning a kingdom, to build and to plant it;
10 If it do evil in my sight, that it obey not my voice, then I will repent of the good, wherewith I said I would benefit them.
11 Now therefore go to, speak to the men of Judah, and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, saying, Thus saith the LORD; Behold, I frame evil against you, and devise a device against you: return ye now every one from his evil way, and make your ways and your doings good.
12 And they said, There is no hope: but we will walk after our own devices, and we will every one do the imagination of his evil heart.
13 Therefore thus saith the LORD; Ask ye now among the heathen, who hath heard such things: the virgin of Israel hath done a very horrible thing.
14 Will a man leave the snow of Lebanon which cometh from the rock of the field? or shall the cold flowing waters that come from another place be forsaken?
15 Because my people hath forgotten me, they have burned incense to vanity, and they have caused them to stumble in their ways from the ancient paths, to walk in paths, in a way not cast up;
16 To make their land desolate, and a perpetual hissing; every one that passeth thereby shall be astonished, and wag his head.
17 I will scatter them as with an east wind before the enemy; I will shew them the back, and not the face, in the day of their calamity.
18 Then said they, Come, and let us devise devices against Jeremiah; for the law shall not perish from the priest, nor counsel from the wise, nor the word from the prophet. Come, and let us smite him with the tongue, and let us not give heed to any of his words.
19 Give heed to me, O LORD, and hearken to the voice of them that contend with me.
20 Shall evil be recompensed for good? for they have digged a pit for my soul. Remember that I stood before thee to speak good for them, and to turn away thy wrath from them.
21 Therefore deliver up their children to the famine, and pour out their blood by the force of the sword; and let their wives be bereaved of their children, and be widows; and let their men be put to death; let their young men be slain by the sword in battle.
22 Let a cry be heard from their houses, when thou shalt bring a troop suddenly upon them: for they have digged a pit to take me, and hid snares for my feet.
23 Yet, LORD, thou knowest all their counsel against me to slay me: forgive not their iniquity, neither blot out their sin from thy sight, but let them be overthrown before thee; deal thus with them in the time of thine anger.

The need for sacrifice the need for the potter wheel. Two vessels were made, one was marred the other not. Potter being God. The other day I was doing some research. My measuring tool is always scripture. I did a little adlibbing in one of lesson concerning the covering that God made Adam and Eve, explaining it could of come from wool being sheared from the sheep, The sheep a symbol of God's word, and it also a symbol of perfect man created by man to be the high priest over man. In ancient Egypt there was a story of a god that was a lamb. No I don't know all religions of the ancients, but I dead stop when I heard it. The lamb was sacred as cows are to hindus. I stop again, because what it explained as Israel was in their land sacrificing sheep and they believed in protection of the lamb god. Lamb god was suppose to be the creator of the earth and he created man on a potter's wheel, placing an egg inside his mother. Now I could not find where this Lamb came from. I decided it was best to top there anyway. Is there a connection to Jewish faith in this lamb of Egypt, or interpretation of the sacrifice of the lamb in scripture misguided. How many vegetarians believe we should not kill animals. How many people eat meat and do. Where does the line drawn of hearing folklore and hearing truth of God's word. Where is adlibing okay and where does it need to stop. Then I thought to myself God's word begins and God's word ends. Then I go through skimming throught the Bible this AM and read where God's word brought judgment to his people, yet reminding them they were still his people and the wrath that came upon them was not for eternity. The belief of the Jewish people being saved through eternity despite their destruction, despite their raising up. As a Christian I set and weigh all these things based on what, the claim on God's Holy Word being true. Then I look at another book and think where is the line between ancient drawing on the wall and God's word?

The insurrection Vice President Harris point out in one more of her speeches the benefit for the people not yield was it certified the constitution would stand. It proved our democracy still worked. Evil could not and would not prevail. That certified, or was a certificate that evil could arise, that leaders could try and take over but democracy would still hold. It held at the time of the civil war, even with the death of President Abraham Lincoln. What is my point is the rebel force speaking freedom, only the force of opposition that proves it right to come against itself to prove the need to listen, to hear, to correct, to hold steady to truth.

God's word is truth, if you believe that this morning, the Egyptian hierogyphicals are technically wrong about creation, or about the interpretation of the hierogyphics could be wrong or is a corrupted stoy of faith, only if you use scripture as your reference of what God said happened in creation. If one studies the Bible would we find man honor the word of the Lamb, but with honor comes dishonor. The word of the Lamb becomes tainted with sin of idolatry and lies. The word of God being the covering that God gives us and provides for us, because one listen to the lies faster then the truth. Yet man in their idolatry tried to change the word of God, of God is not going to do a thing because I do this, only discover God's word is true. Whether we justify our action and cover our sin, it does not mean God will cover the sin. Meaning unless one repents their sin is not blotted out. If they are God's children because of God's choosing and he says your sins are covered and they white as snow, but you continue in sin, does not mean you earthly fate is not the same as the heathens around you. His condemnation and wrath upon you is far greater then when you see the destruction coming to the evil in our world. If one sees a storm at one's shoreline, can you stop it from coming? Science will try to stop it for you at what cost to elsewhere.

Many ancients cultured believed in the Creator God, but still fell to Idolatry. Change the image of God for his creation. In Jewish culture the reason for killing of the lamb and purging sin, was to separate from the world of sin and follow after God and his righteousness by faith. God being the only one to be able to blot out sin and make one white as snow. Only one that could purify his own people. The only one to put his people on a wheel, and mold them into what he called them to be, to take the mar and mistakes out of the clay and he did that with the gentile nation, taking them and showing them what sin displeased God, through the sins of his own people, and bring judgment upon them for their sin, though they be purged by their offerings and repentance they were still sinners and God's children. God takes his children through his wrath and brings a remnant home that worships him, obeys him and follows his will. He teaches the Gentile nation around Israel and outside of Israel about who he is as the Lamb of God being the word of God, demonstrates his power to heal, forgive and the power to do it. Christ comes teaching both his people and the gentile nation, why, to prove that man might slay him, but He is still able to raise his word up. His word never dying because it was prophecied of its destruction in the time of wickedness and evil, even unto the grossness of the destruction. Yet God is able to bring his word of good things given to man after his destruction. Egypt in ancient culture lost out on information from God because of idolatry. The same trouble Israel had when the Messiah came, they could not see him for who he was with evidence of the virgin birth, the virgin birth of flesh and faith, the virgin birth of hope. Our virginity before we receive faith, must come with the spiritual birth of the knowledge of the Creator. Gentiles accept the Lamb as God, because of their ancient beliefs. Egypt protected Jesus for two years and yet Egypt knew it not, probably, because they would have known Israel desire to take the Lamb back to Israel where he would of be slained. The Lamb of God that would take away the sins of the world. Only God can remove sin. Only God can cover sin. Only God can destroy sin. Only God can destroy the lies of the world against him. When His Son return he will do that and bring his wrath with Him.

God's word is going to go before us, we must look at his word and examine it. Did Adam and Eve destroy what God said would happen to them if they ate the fruit. definitely not, nor did he go back on his word concerning their sin. Yet God through his mercy and grace has the power to raise the world back up. Yet some will be to final judgment and others to eternal life with God. Our own works on the potter wheel is destructable, but the true potter might make one vessel for dishonor, and the other for honor. The ways of the dishonor is destruction and the ways of honor brings eternal life. Faith, love and hope is the begining of the ways of honor to God. Faith in Christ Jesus a call of God on all people to receive his truth despite the consequences they are living in.

Dear Heavenly Father, May you build your church to be people of honor and not dishonor. People of faith, love and hope. People not called to be destroy and to be knocked down, but people that are called by you to be saved and will bear your fruit that will not be destroyed. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

P.S the information about Egypt was stumbled upon. When I wrote adlibing I had no clue. Sometimes God works it out for those I can not see or hear, but God does.

Continual Scripture Study: Acts 3:18-20 KJV
18 But those things, which God before had shewed by the mouth of all his prophets, that Christ should suffer, he hath so fulfilled.
19 Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord;
20 And he shall send Jesus Christ, which before was preached unto you:

Romans 9:15-33 KJV
15 For he saith to Moses, I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion.
16 So then it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that sheweth mercy.
17 For the scripture saith unto Pharaoh, Even for this same purpose have I raised thee up, that I might shew my power in thee, and that my name might be declared throughout all the earth.
18 Therefore hath he mercy on whom he will have mercy, and whom he will he hardeneth.
19 Thou wilt say then unto me, Why doth he yet find fault? For who hath resisted his will?
20 Nay but, O man, who art thou that repliest against God? Shall the thing formed say to him that formed it, Why hast thou made me thus?
21 Hath not the potter power over the clay, of the same lump to make one vessel unto honour, and another unto dishonour?
22 What if God, willing to shew his wrath, and to make his power known, endured with much longsuffering the vessels of wrath fitted to destruction:
23 And that he might make known the riches of his glory on the vessels of mercy, which he had afore prepared unto glory,
24 Even us, whom he hath called, not of the Jews only, but also of the Gentiles?
25 As he saith also in Osee, I will call them my people, which were not my people; and her beloved, which was not beloved.
26 And it shall come to pass, that in the place where it was said unto them, Ye are not my people; there shall they be called the children of the living God.
27 Esaias also crieth concerning Israel, Though the number of the children of Israel be as the sand of the sea, a remnant shall be saved:
28 For he will finish the work, and cut it short in righteousness: because a short work will the Lord make upon the earth.
29 And as Esaias said before, Except the Lord of Sabaoth had left us a seed, we had been as Sodoma, and been made like unto Gomorrha.
30 What shall we say then? That the Gentiles, which followed not after righteousness, have attained to righteousness, even the righteousness which is of faith.
31 But Israel, which followed after the law of righteousness, hath not attained to the law of righteousness.
32 Wherefore? Because they sought it not by faith, but as it were by the works of the law. For they stumbled at that stumblingstone;
33 As it is written, Behold, I lay in Sion a stumblingstone and rock of offence: and whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.

Isaiah 44:21-28 KJV
21 Remember these, O Jacob and Israel; for thou art my servant: I have formed thee; thou art my servant: O Israel, thou shalt not be forgotten of me.
22 I have blotted out, as a thick cloud, thy transgressions, and, as a cloud, thy sins: return unto me; for I have redeemed thee.
23 Sing, O ye heavens; for the LORD hath done it: shout, ye lower parts of the earth: break forth into singing, ye mountains, O forest, and every tree therein: for the LORD hath redeemed Jacob, and glorified himself in Israel.
24 Thus saith the LORD, thy redeemer, and he that formed thee from the womb, I am the LORD that maketh all things; that stretcheth forth the heavens alone; that spreadeth abroad the earth by myself;
25 That frustrateth the tokens of the liars, and maketh diviners mad; that turneth wise men backward, and maketh their knowledge foolish;
26 That confirmeth the word of his servant, and performeth the counsel of his messengers; that saith to Jerusalem, Thou shalt be inhabited; and to the cities of Judah, Ye shall be built, and I will raise up the decayed places thereof:
27 That saith to the deep, Be dry, and I will dry up thy rivers:
28 That saith of Cyrus, He is my shepherd, and shall perform all my pleasure: even saying to Jerusalem, Thou shalt be built; and to the temple, Thy foundation shall be laid.
