Covered By Jesus: Lesson 3

Daily Devotions:
by Christina Farris

Genesis 24:65-67 KJV
65 For she had said unto the servant, What man is this that walketh in the field to meet us? And the servant had said, It is my master: therefore she took a vail, and covered herself.
66 And the servant told Isaac all things that he had done.
67 And Isaac brought her into his mother Sarah's tent, and took Rebekah, and she became his wife; and he loved her: and Isaac was comforted after his mother's death.

How many people enter the business world, the church world and even parts of society with a vail on, to cover their nakeness of who they really are. We all hide parts we believe the world will not accept, or we know should remain private, but it in reality those hiden parts will become visible to God. When Rebekah first met her husband she had her vail on, yet it would be removed. Adam and Eve lost their garment of leaves because God had to make a garment inside the garden for their protection outside the garden, yet outside the garden man continues to put a vail on to hide behind. To cover, to make one look pure, without sin or faults. Yet with all of Rebakah covering she would loose her covering with her husband. Even after bearing him two sons, she would become naked in his eyes with sin of betrayal and with the betrayal of helping Jacob gain his brother birthright, she would still be protected by her husband, who would have Jacob marry a woman from their family line, who would allow him to live among them for a time, until the time was right to come home.

The covering of sin, the covering of deceit, the covering continues into the family protection. Sin is probably more protected then good behavior. It probably more covered then life itself. A family might cover another memembers alcohol problem, drug problem, murder, theft and so forth just so the family reputation is not tarnished to the world. The things families and love ones cover is amazing sometimes, but in truth is these things covered by God. Restitution, repentance and forgiveness is often made by a family member, but God does something else, he needs no restitution, he makes the restitution through Christ Jesus, he makes our atonement through Christ Jesus, and he forgives our sin, blotting them out. The vail covering comes because of faith in Christ Jesus, who paid our price that we could not pay. Yet the Bible records sin, records forgiveness, and justification and unjustification of sin. Isaac was blind to his son who had sold his birthright to his brother, and so Isaac wife went about deceiving Isaac to get the payment for her son of the birthright and blessing, and because the story comes out of what really occurred Isaac covers his wife and forbids Esau not to sin against the family by marrying from a certain tribes, and he sinned against his father anyway.

The uncovering of sin, does it come with a price, does it come with more sin. For Esau it came with more sin, and for Isaac wife it came with protection for her and her son. Now is God our protector when we sin, and believe in his Son. Is he our corrector, and protector and forgiver of all our sin. Christ paid the price for that sin. Meaning that sin the separated us from God no longer exist because of that payment when we receive Christ as Lord. Yet that sin that would of kept us separated from God does it keep us from others if they forgive not, show not mercy, and show not grace, even if we repent. The question occurs did we know what we were doing when we sinned against someone, or was it by some other force that caused our sin. Jacob sin against his father, because of his own mother, who said the blame would be upon her, yet it became upon Esau.

When government commits a crime unless it involves the outside world it kept within the government. Making the law corrupt because of the governments protection. The government makes itself into a god by doing this, because they mimick God with forgiveness, correction and the only justification coming with revenge of those who forgive not. Gangs and other groups try to emulate this idea, but if caught by the law, someone usually goes to jail. The gang says why does the law apply to me but not to them. Heathens want to know why does faith matter if I obey God's law. God's requires us to walk by his Spirit and word. His Spirit we can not walk by without faith, for the true worshippers worship in Spirit and in truth. An a non believer in God one can not walk in the Spirit of God or obey Spirit without faith. The law of God/ the word of God becomes a stumbling stone to those that obey without faith. If God's people leave the revenge to God then true forgiveness has come. In the government vows revenge, gang member vows revenge, and family often vows revenge without forgiving as God forgives all his children. We required as believers to forgive as Christ forgave us.

Jacob mother demanded payment from Esau, while Jacob might of forgiven Esau for stealing a bowl of soup, for the price of his birthright. Instead Jacob mom was looking out for him. Ruth needed a kinsmen redeemer, why to look out for her interest to not be branded a harlot for she cared for her mother inlaw, about the God of Naomi and so forth. However where did God draw the line of correction? When sin became so gross that world was more into sin then compassion. When man becomes out for himself and thinks he is God. The idea of man thinks he can control God or destroy God. God's word does rise again over and over.

Does the church still preach sanctuary within their doors as the catholics did year and years ago, or is the church more about betrayal. Is the church becoming more like Jesus spoke concerning even mothers and fathers against children and children against even their own parents. Does the government have lines, only when it does not effect the governmental family? The hard question come but the easy answers are not so easy.

With God it is easy, all we have to do is believe in Jesus, and God the Father, and receive forgiveness for sin, and try not to harm others, and to show love to others along with forgiveness, whether they ask for it or not. There is sin that God does not imput on man, we to must learn that type of forgiveness. Esau was not ready to forgive Jacob for claiming his rightful possession that he bought for a bowl of soup, and Esau was upset with his father and mother because he was caught. Jacob and Rebekah had Isaac protection.

Dear Heavenly Father, we know you protect your own, but you also correct them. And those that are not yours and fail to see who you truly are, as a merciful Father, and giver of eternal life through your Son, fail to see your gift to the world. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

Continual Scripture Study: Genesis 27:5-19 KJV
5 And Rebekah heard when Isaac spake to Esau his son. And Esau went to the field to hunt for venison, and to bring it.
6 And Rebekah spake unto Jacob her son, saying, Behold, I heard thy father speak unto Esau thy brother, saying,
7 Bring me venison, and make me savoury meat, that I may eat, and bless thee before the LORD before my death.
8 Now therefore, my son, obey my voice according to that which I command thee.
9 Go now to the flock, and fetch me from thence two good kids of the goats; and I will make them savoury meat for thy father, such as he loveth:
10 And thou shalt bring it to thy father, that he may eat, and that he may bless thee before his death.
11 And Jacob said to Rebekah his mother, Behold, Esau my brother is a hairy man, and I am a smooth man:
12 My father peradventure will feel me, and I shall seem to him as a deceiver; and I shall bring a curse upon me, and not a blessing.
13 And his mother said unto him, Upon me be thy curse, my son: only obey my voice, and go fetch me them.
14 And he went, and fetched, and brought them to his mother: and his mother made savoury meat, such as his father loved.
15 And Rebekah took goodly raiment of her eldest son Esau, which were with her in the house, and put them upon Jacob her younger son:
16 And she put the skins of the kids of the goats upon his hands, and upon the smooth of his neck:
17 And she gave the savoury meat and the bread, which she had prepared, into the hand of her son Jacob.
18 And he came unto his father, and said, My father: and he said, Here am I; who art thou, my son?
19 And Jacob said unto his father, I am Esau thy firstborn; I have done according as thou badest me: arise, I pray thee, sit and eat of my venison, that thy soul may bless me.

Genesis 27:41-46 28:1-5 KJV
41 And Esau hated Jacob because of the blessing wherewith his father blessed him: and Esau said in his heart, The days of mourning for my father are at hand; then will I slay my brother Jacob.
42 And these words of Esau her elder son were told to Rebekah: and she sent and called Jacob her younger son, and said unto him, Behold, thy brother Esau, as touching thee, doth comfort himself, purposing to kill thee.
43 Now therefore, my son, obey my voice; and arise, flee thou to Laban my brother to Haran;
44 And tarry with him a few days, until thy brother's fury turn away;
45 Until thy brother's anger turn away from thee, and he forget that which thou hast done to him: then I will send, and fetch thee from thence: why should I be deprived also of you both in one day?
46 And Rebekah said to Isaac, I am weary of my life because of the daughters of Heth: if Jacob take a wife of the daughters of Heth, such as these which are of the daughters of the land, what good shall my life do me?

1 And Isaac called Jacob, and blessed him, and charged him, and said unto him, Thou shalt not take a wife of the daughters of Canaan.
2 Arise, go to Padanaram, to the house of Bethuel thy mother's father; and take thee a wife from thence of the daughters of Laban thy mother's brother.
3 And God Almighty bless thee, and make thee fruitful, and multiply thee, that thou mayest be a multitude of people;
4 And give thee the blessing of Abraham, to thee, and to thy seed with thee; that thou mayest inherit the land wherein thou art a stranger, which God gave unto Abraham.
5 And Isaac sent away Jacob: and he went to Padanaram unto Laban, son of Bethuel the Syrian, the brother of Rebekah, Jacob's and Esau's mother.
