Loving God: Lesson 25
2/28/2022

Daily Devotions:
by Christina Farris

Luke 24:45-53 KJV
45 Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures,
46 And said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behoved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day:
47 And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.
48 And ye are witnesses of these things.
49 And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high.
50 And he led them out as far as to Bethany, and he lifted up his hands, and blessed them.
51 And it came to pass, while he blessed them, he was parted from them, and carried up into heaven.
52 And they worshipped him, and returned to Jerusalem with great joy:
53 And were continually in the temple, praising and blessing God. Amen.

What we do the rest of our life does matter to God, even if it matters to no one else. Yet when Christ ascended into heaven he prepared his disciples for his departure and what would come after. No matter how much preparation Christ gave his disciples there was one thing left and that was to give them the power to do the things required of them to do. Do you think it easy to preach when your head on a chopping block, or being one day from captured and execution. Most would say how convicted are you of what you preach and speak. Many leaders of many things have reason only on the power of themselves. God truly does use the weak, to make them strong. Yet it is our weakness of faith, that when we perform what God ask of us, we know it is a miracle and we get all excited, because it not within our own ability is the power of God. A man with a billion dollars can't buy healing, but he says one prayer and the person is healed, or the impossible comes to pass, do you think he going to be quiet about Jesus. That something money can not buy. Take a poor man with no money, and he prays and God hears and answer, do you think he sees the need for money the same way the rich do? Yet when it all comes down to the need of God's power it becomes real with impossible healing, becomes possible. Yet it must come from who Jesus, who is also the word of God and God in the fullness of the godhead bodily. Why is the information so important to the believer. To know God's word is life saving if we will follow it? Or the best instruction one can live by for daily living? Christ did teach the word of God in the Old Testament, but what God's word never taught about was the power that God would instill in the believer though it happened in the Old Testament. King David was said to be anointed by God, Moses, and few more even to the building and creative arts that built the tabernacle and temple. Why was it so important for Christ to leave and to send the Holy Spirit to come if he had come in the pass. Why did Christ have to come in invisible cloak of man anointed by his Spirit?

Truth if Christ is all we need then we need not the Spirit with us in His Presence, because his Spirit is with him in our presence. The answer is simpler then that, if Christ is with us in body and Spirit, who needs the ability, his disciples had the ability to cast out demons and to heal, what changed? Seventy Jesus sent out. What changed? It easier to go to the time of Moses and ask what changed when God removed his presence from man after the killing in the wilderness, and they no longer dined literally with God all because of the worship of the image of a calf some had created. What then is why is it necessary for Jesus to go and come again? God's Spirit never left Moses, but did He depart from some of Israel? Israel had sinned again by rejecting his Son according to the will of God and yet he would restore Israel to him through faith in Christ Jesus. The spirit gone from his people because of Christ death and resurrection. The sin great but not unpardonable by God, for Christ came to redeem his people and all those that would believe.

Time of Christ represented something you and I perhaps can not imagine was going to take place in about 60 years done the road with the fall of Jerusalem a scattering of God's people. The same people that persecuted Jesus and his disciples. The same people that today are still in need of the temple. The same people that worship by tradition and not always faith. What did Christ do, minister in the open field, and in the temple. And yet we fail to understand that Jesus spoke in two worlds for what purpose to gather the believers into a new living way, by showing you can grow in faith without a building, or with a building, it matters not. God not in one place but all over the world. God is with us in the valley in the shadow of death, we should fear no evil because of this. Perhaps we can understand the call of the Great Commission found at the end of Matthew and Mark to minister to all people about who God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit is. Jesus is the Spirit of Prophecy, and yet those words in Revelations 19 mean what? After all Jesus ascends into heaven in the incorruptible form. Yet he sends his Spirit back to us to share his word, his teaching, and preach to all nations. The disciples teach and spread the word. Yet Christ must ascend into heaven before the Holy Spirit can come and baptize the disciples. After the knowledge of forgiveness by Christ continual stay on earth for forty days occurs, the knowledge of Christ forgiveness was made real to the disciples and apostles of Jesus. What does God instruct the believer to teach but about the power of God, the gifts of his spirit and knowledge of his word that came also in the flesh to save man from sin.

Christ gave his disciples through the baptism not just the power to teach but to live by his word. The power to resist temptation and to fight the enemy and their demons. He gave the tools in which to fight the enemy called the gifts of the Spirit, which bears fruit of the Spirit that we are children of God. The evil we see is not of God and the wolves in sheep clothing is not of God, be aware of the evil of wolves. Know God Spirit will teach you all things concerning those wolves in sheep clothing. God through his salvation plan name Jesus, called to live in the flesh demonstrating God's will as example to man on how to live, also gave us power for the purpose to live for him through out the journey of our life. It not just to cast out demons, or to see people healed, Prayer will take care of those things in our life and life of others. Yet no one can make another receive Christ as their own Savior. Devil can divide believers he will and he still doing so today. Yet by prayer, fasting, believing in faith God is winning. Faith is not building, faith is belief and worship of God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

Dear Heavenly Father as Christ ascended into heaven he left the disciples with hope of having the power from God the Father to do his will. He was not living them naked without the ability to overcome, but giving them the ability to overcome with the hope of eternal life. Help us to trust in that hope that you gave the early disciples. Reminds us why we love you back, is more then just faith, but your provision. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

Continual Scripture Study: Acts 1:1-9 KJV
1 The former treatise have I made, O Theophilus, of all that Jesus began both to do and teach,
2 Until the day in which he was taken up, after that he through the Holy Ghost had given commandments unto the apostles whom he had chosen:
3 To whom also he shewed himself alive after his passion by many infallible proofs, being seen of them forty days, and speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God:
4 And, being assembled together with them, commanded them that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father, which, saith he, ye have heard of me.
5 For John truly baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence.
6 When they therefore were come together, they asked of him, saying, Lord, wilt thou at this time restore again the kingdom to Israel?
7 And he said unto them, It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father hath put in his own power.
8 But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.
9 And when he had spoken these things, while they beheld, he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their sight.
