Loving God: Lesson 24 2/27/2022
Daily Devotions: by Christina FarrisLuke 23:39-43 KJV
39 And one of the malefactors which were hanged railed on him, saying, If thou be Christ, save thyself and us.
40 But the other answering rebuked him, saying, Dost not thou fear God, seeing thou art in the same condemnation?
41 And we indeed justly; for we receive the due reward of our deeds: but this man hath done nothing amiss.
42 And he said unto Jesus, Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom.
43 And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, To day shalt thou be with me in paradise.
John 19:25-27 KJV
25 Now there stood by the cross of Jesus his mother, and his mother's sister, Mary the wife of Cleophas, and Mary Magdalene.
26 When Jesus therefore saw his mother, and the disciple standing by, whom he loved, he saith unto his mother, Woman, behold thy son!
27 Then saith he to the disciple, Behold thy mother! And from that hour that disciple took her unto his own home.
Did the people at the cross love God? If we talk about the cross we have to examine not only Christ suffering but those who were around him, and their response to his dying. Maybe their response is only particial to the love of those that knew Jesus. We know the thief on the cross that rebuke the other one that mocked Jesus, who understood not who Christ was, knew who Christ was, when he said "remember me when thou comest into they kingdom". The Thief rebuked him how? "Dost thou fear God, Seeing thou art in the same condemnation"? I think this thief was a teacher or learner, who perhaps had followed at some point Christ ministry, maybe another disciple of Jesus not of the twelve for he tell the other thief on the cross you under the same condemnation as God. Did God deserve what we do? The thief continues to point out the humanity of Jesus to the thief that mocked him by pointing out this was innocent man that was dying, "we receive the due reward of our deeds but this man hath nothing amiss". Meaning showing the innocent man was suffering here, his humanity and first thief dare speak to him this way. In other words why should we be rescue, Jesus yes but us no. For we are condemned by our action, Jesus is condemn and yet innocent. What did the two thieves not understand about Christ being on the cross. It simple really that he was dying to not his sin but by the laws of man, and for the sin of man. This thief that rebuked knew that Jesus was going to a kingdom not of earth, and yet he hoped that one act of defense would be remembered. One act of love would be worthy of something. Yet the thief that defend Christ understood not he was God, and yet the first thief mock actually declared Jesus was God in mocking fashion. Both thieves reviled him, but something Jesus said to the second thief that he would be with him in paradise. His sin were forgiven because why? because he understood Jesus did not deserve that punishment but he did. He was willing to bear his cross for his wrong doing. The first thief never recognized his sin, or his need for punishment. The mockery of some to think they are without sin, or guilt and should be punished not for sin is the error most make with God. Adam and Eve perhaps did not understand why they were being punished but would have had to accept it, first ones punished for sin. Perhaps that why the first sacrifices were given, to try and to appease God. Yet Cain would shed innocent blood for his action of sin, paying for it with innocent blood, because he was not willing to give an appropiate offering to God. A Lamb was the appropiate sacrifice, because it was demonstration that man was giving sacrifice for payment of sin, but man was still doing what they wanted to do, not willing to sacrifice their own will to obey God. Our own will of not yield to God is our greatest sin. We want to remember in paradise, we want heaven, but do we want to lay our life down for God to obey him as Christ did. No one does, it a reality, and yet we do so in obedience to God, by commiting our ways and life to him. Knowing that while we were yet a sinner Christ gave his all to us, by following his Father's will. His love for us.
Another group of people were at the cross, and Jesus laid a cross on disciple John, the care of his mother, to help her and to be a son to her through this time of grief, though it be short lived. Three Mary's at the cross but all three were known by John, and yet only one need attending the one that had cared for Jesus before his birth, his earthly mother. Yet the other two one being delivered by demons and the other one was his aunt. The love of these four is a demonstration of the love of those that worshipped and still worship at the foot of the cross. Never leaving Christ side through the journey of the cross, and yet what could it have cost them. They could of been arrest for being a disciples and killed, and yet none of those things happened until after the resurrection and final ascension observerd by the twelve disciples. There is point family might of should, could of mocked him, shunned him, but instead they held to Christ innocents even when Christ was upon the cross. What great love is a family to hold to the innocents of someone being crucified for his kingship, his crime of insurrection against the capitalist in the temple selling. Yet he hurt no one, in his obedience to God. Yet even with knowing who Jesus is, it does not work with American laws either, they would have and do crucify Jesus when they deny who he is.
News coming out that former President Trump is against President Biden role in Urkrain, and I had to remember former President Trump's wife came from Czechoslovakia. This country is a parlimentary type of government, it once was owned by Russia and part of the NATO pack today. What is my point? If Trump is truly siding with Russia, then is the insurrection a terrorist attack or is it only an attempt to stir the American people to loyalty of our nation, that failed and former President Trump true colors are not showing. I do not know the answer. What loyalty do we find at the cross of Jesus, his family, Peter own denial, a page or so over in a few Gospels, and not Judas own betrayal, because of his lack of knowledge and greed perhaps. Was the insurrection of Christ to set people free from the yoke of the temple, the yoke of the sacrifice, the going straight to God and repenting with the only High Priest being Jesus. God is the only one that can change his rules of salvation. Did God change his rules. If we know not who Jesus is both the Son of God and the Word of God in the flesh and yet complete in the godhead bodily, we are then lost in the truth of salvation coming from God alone if we believe not. Christ demonstrating what it means to do the will of the Father all the way to his cross and resurrection. Yet he is God in shell of humanity. Giving us a veil as we talk directly to him in his veil. Yet he still rejected by humanity, despite the veil. The veil of the Presidency to protect American Democracy with a wolf of sheep clothing, or full protection of democracy patriotism is similiar to this issue. Yet not. God's intent was to deal with us all directly while Christ his Son was on earth. To show his love to those he minister too.
Man puts on many disguises through out history, Yet when God does it, we fall to our knees in disbelief? No we fall our knees in open shame that God seen our sin, yet he sees our sin without hiding behind the veil. What is the blood covering but the protection that our sins are paid for. We are redemned by the blood of the lamb. God on earth to take the land and the people back that were embracing a society that was corrupt from the ways of God? Even to the point of getting rid of the religious corrupt structure of the time of Christ, through Christ suffering. The Christian uprising only cause persecution of its own people and yet they were demonstrating love, but uproar in the temple. Yet Jews wanted to keep everything the same according to how they felt God instructed them from the time of Moses. The conflict of not knowing who Jesus was, yet God testified of who he was through prophesy that was not received by them. Two groups divided and one blinded to what God had done, he mad a way for the believer to live in corrupt not godly society and still worship him.
In some groups of Christians are lable as Jew haters, and that not always true in Christian circles, but what is the purpose of shipping Jews home that occurred in the 90s by some radical Christians. If our land is no longer Jewish in certain areas is their voice hidden in mainstream society, and Christians you are left to believe and take the yoke of our society on our backs or hide behind a wall like the upper room, until Christ appears. When Christ appears he will rapture the church, but did we do our duty as living in society not of God's world, with the freedom of faith, freedom of speech, freedom of the right to pursue happiness, freedom of democracy gives or do we hide behind our Bibles and our doors not sharing our faith once more. You will not stand for the constitution that governs our land move away, go to a land of dictatorship. I remain here.
My point is Christians we got to speak love, even when we are hurt. It is so hard to speak love, It hard to stand our ground. If we want our land protected, we got to protect the rights of others in love, if we got to find fault with others do it by the law only to protect our own freedom. Yes our nation is divided by faith, but not by democracy unless you do nothing but sit and do nothing. Be a do nothing and God not pleased, He gave you a rope to be lifted to the plane in a flood and you letting it go by with no protection from the flood as you stand on your roof? Use your freedom for love and not hate. Christ is never about hate, only hate of sin. Corruption, evil that hurts others and especially children. Abortion he frowns on too. We look at the cross and lets say we take our cross up and bear it like everyone else bears it and fight for justice for all people, never laying down our faith, for God gave freedom of choice, with consequences. Lets bear our choice of the consequences even at the price we will pay for allowing people to sin, as God does by giving of his Son for all sin. Find your way by God's Spirit to speak out in society. PTA in schools, and so forth. Lend a hand with trash clean up. Things that can be recycled like tires and other recyclables that are left on the highway or over a hill somewhere. What about old couch can it be recyclable, what about the metal and wood in it. Make a good impact in some way. Look for the good in society and embrace it and let it shine and let your light shine for Jesus.
Do not be a thief with a noose of the law of God around your neck, but be like the followers of Christ sitting at Christ feet while on the cross. Hold to truth. Hold to faith. HOld to what you know is right.
Dear Heavenly Father, help us to love Christ knowing we do sin and deserve the punishment he bore for us, help us to worship in love at your feet knowing you did rise again, and did not stay in the grave, that the world rejection is not the believers rejection, their hope and faith is still in you. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

32 Let Christ the King of Israel descend now from the cross, that we may see and believe. And they that were crucified with him reviled him.
