Loving God: Lesson 21
2/24/2022

Daily Devotions:
by Christina Farris

Luke 8:41-56 KJV
41 And, behold, there came a man named Jairus, and he was a ruler of the synagogue: and he fell down at Jesus' feet, and besought him that he would come into his house:
42 For he had one only daughter, about twelve years of age, and she lay a dying. But as he went the people thronged him.
43 And a woman having an issue of blood twelve years, which had spent all her living upon physicians, neither could be healed of any,
44 Came behind him, and touched the border of his garment: and immediately her issue of blood stanched.
45 And Jesus said, Who touched me? When all denied, Peter and they that were with him said, Master, the multitude throng thee and press thee, and sayest thou, Who touched me?
46 And Jesus said, Somebody hath touched me: for I perceive that virtue is gone out of me.
47 And when the woman saw that she was not hid, she came trembling, and falling down before him, she declared unto him before all the people for what cause she had touched him, and how she was healed immediately.
48 And he said unto her, Daughter, be of good comfort: thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace.
49 While he yet spake, there cometh one from the ruler of the synagogue's house, saying to him, Thy daughter is dead; trouble not the Master.
50 But when Jesus heard it, he answered him, saying, Fear not: believe only, and she shall be made whole.
51 And when he came into the house, he suffered no man to go in, save Peter, and James, and John, and the father and the mother of the maiden.
52 And all wept, and bewailed her: but he said, Weep not; she is not dead, but sleepeth.
53 And they laughed him to scorn, knowing that she was dead.
54 And he put them all out, and took her by the hand, and called, saying, Maid, arise.
55 And her spirit came again, and she arose straightway: and he commanded to give her meat.
56 And her parents were astonished: but he charged them that they should tell no man what was done.

I already tired of a rainy morning and yet I do enjoy the pitter patter of it. Sometimes the knowledge of being warm and dry is far better then being out in it. Yet if it was ninety degree weather it be nice to be out in it. The idea it cool things off and allow things to feel the fresh rain to quench the thirst of the living plants outdoors. Things enjoyed by all and yet it a part of life that comes and goes and passes us all by. The changing season change not as frequent as the tide, but neverless a reminder of time. Time stands still sometimes when you have a problem. My husband and I drive down the road and it seems to be taking forever to get somewhere even at a short distance and you wonder if you driving through a time warp of some type and yet the clock changes normally to tell all is right as rain. It only takes a moment for life to change and it only takes a moment for time to seem to stand still in ones life.

The woman with the issue of blood not meaning to interupts Christ destination of going to help the Synagogue Ruler named Jairus daughter who laid sick. A woman that had been sick for over 12 years. Is Jesus touched by our infirmities? We see healing in scripture and the Bible is said by some people to be a man's book, but when given evidence that women were healed to, and delivered bring about faith for some. Woman like Mary Magalene healed from demons. A woman unclean because of issue of blood, touched the hem of the garment of Jesus thinking no would notice because of the crowd pressed in around Jesus, but Jesus did. He did because he felt the healing virtue come from him to heal the woman. This touch did not change Jesus holiness, but it changed the woman that touched him. It takes faith to reach out to touch Jesus' garment to be made whole.

Jesus in this story had opportunity to keep what he did quiet for the woman with issue of blood, but in reality he brought it out in the open. He gave her a testimony among the woman of what he did for her, he gave her a place in scripture of that testimony of faith. She had not want to bother Jesus, but she came and bent down and touch his garment and she immediately by faith was healed. Her need took only a moment in time, but the daughter of Jarius laid dying and did die according to the crowd at Jairus house and yet Jesus himself did not say she was dead but only asleep. Prehaps comforting the woman that may of still been following Jesus after her own healing. It does not say where the woman went but we know that Jesus was not concerned with the delay to Jairus' house where Jairus' daughter now laid dead. Jesus says to the crowd she is not dead, but only asleep. Jesus takes the little girl by the hand and tells her to rise in the presents of a few disciples and Jairus and his wife. The crowd that was pushed back outside the home has seen nothing to say or claim because Jesus had said she was only sleeping. Yet he tells the parents to tell know one. Yet the story been told over and over by ministers and scripture.

What the importance Jesus cared for the woman folk, he came not just to heal the men but the woman too. The woman that traveled with Jesus provide for his needs out of their own substance. Yet none were his wife. Woman have had roles in the ministry of Christ, and even minister in the Old Testament to the prophets and leaders. Hulda is best known as the been the keeper of the wardrobe(college), but she helped the musicians minister to the flock of Israel after the temple was purged by kings orders. She was a prophetess that knew her scripture. She help the men with scripture. Not much is said about the woman other then her role in ministry.

Woman can sometimes be in the shadows of God's work, but in reality they are just like the men in need of healing, both spiritual and physical at different times of their life. Woman may worship God in their hearts all day long, but did you know men have to go to the mountain to pray. I sure there is a point this morning, if nothing more then the tears of heaven are the tears of perhaps the church(the Bride of Christ) in need of healing. By faith we touch the hem of the garnment of Jesus, by faith the church teaches and is the college of faith without even going to a Seminary guiding their steps. Yet people are taught the history of scripture, the knowledge of scripture background, the knowledge about faith, but none of these in itself will or can ever produce faith. Faith is a planted seed that even in the storm of twelve years of the women in search of healing, that the belief of miracle is still thought to be possible. Yet the girl dying is only asleep to be renew to the wholesome of life. Both woman in need of healing and only one delay, and the 12 year delay was for the purpose of sharing and the little girl healing was told to be quiet. The young person protected by Jesus, the woman with age not. Protect perhaps from the crowd and questions that would be coming with the opening of the door. Jesus timing perfect, our understanding of his perfect timing is perhaps that time we are needing hope and faith to grow once more in our life. The crowd would prehaps tell the story because they thought she was dead. The woman healed would tell her own story of how she was healed and Christ told her, her faith made her whole.

Be excited by the healing God does in woman today and yesterday and in our future. God still needs woman to proclaim his truth and his word. Let us hold to the story of Jesus.

Dear Heavenly Father, help us to be healed by your word that you care for woman just like you do men. We might not see woman on the mountain but we do at the altar. Heal our churches and give them faith as a mustard seed once more. Sow life back into your bride to sing your praises. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

Continual Scripture Study: Luke 8:1-3 KJV
1 And it came to pass afterward, that he went throughout every city and village, preaching and shewing the glad tidings of the kingdom of God: and the twelve were with him,
2 And certain women, which had been healed of evil spirits and infirmities, Mary called Magdalene, out of whom went seven devils,
3 And Joanna the wife of Chuza Herod's steward, and Susanna, and many others, which ministered unto him of their substance.

2 Kings 22:12-15 KJV
12 And the king commanded Hilkiah the priest, and Ahikam the son of Shaphan, and Achbor the son of Michaiah, and Shaphan the scribe, and Asahiah a servant of the king's, saying,
13 Go ye, enquire of the LORD for me, and for the people, and for all Judah, concerning the words of this book that is found: for great is the wrath of the LORD that is kindled against us, because our fathers have not hearkened unto the words of this book, to do according unto all that which is written concerning us.
14 So Hilkiah the priest, and Ahikam, and Achbor, and Shaphan, and Asahiah, went unto Huldah the prophetess, the wife of Shallum the son of Tikvah, the son of Harhas, keeper of the wardrobe; (now she dwelt in Jerusalem in the college;) and they communed with her.
15 And she said unto them, Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, Tell the man that sent you to me,
