Loving God: Lesson 15 2/18/2022
Daily Devotions: by Christina FarrisLuke 4:16-30 KJV
16 And he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up: and, as his custom was, he went into the synagogue on the sabbath day, and stood up for to read.
17 And there was delivered unto him the book of the prophet Esaias. And when he had opened the book, he found the place where it was written,
18 The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,
19 To preach the acceptable year of the Lord.
20 And he closed the book, and he gave it again to the minister, and sat down. And the eyes of all them that were in the synagogue were fastened on him.
21 And he began to say unto them, This day is this scripture fulfilled in your ears.
22 And all bare him witness, and wondered at the gracious words which proceeded out of his mouth. And they said, Is not this Joseph's son?
23 And he said unto them, Ye will surely say unto me this proverb, Physician, heal thyself: whatsoever we have heard done in Capernaum, do also here in thy country.
24 And he said, Verily I say unto you, No prophet is accepted in his own country.
25 But I tell you of a truth, many widows were in Israel in the days of Elias, when the heaven was shut up three years and six months, when great famine was throughout all the land;
26 But unto none of them was Elias sent, save unto Sarepta, a city of Sidon, unto a woman that was a widow.
27 And many lepers were in Israel in the time of Eliseus the prophet; and none of them was cleansed, saving Naaman the Syrian.
28 And all they in the synagogue, when they heard these things, were filled with wrath,
29 And rose up, and thrust him out of the city, and led him unto the brow of the hill whereon their city was built, that they might cast him down headlong.
30 But he passing through the midst of them went his way,
One would think your hometown would love you more then another place. Yet even God knew people were healed outside of Israel by his power when no one in his villages was. God knows the reason why. I am one of those people when I have a question about God I tend to seek the answer out. My favorite question will not be a completed question perhaps til the end of time, but in reality there is things I can know about my question. Why was I healed, when even I knew others that needed healing and why is some not healed and others are in the name of Jesus. God's timing not mine or yours, but his for that healing, and two perhaps not asked, or belief. I never say it is a punishment from God but it perhaps it is or perhaps a teaching and learning tool for God's work and glory. Yet one must understand the physician Luke seem to be plagued by this question as he was writting his book that tells more miracles probably then any other three Gospels(Matthew, Mark and John) and Jesus' response is "physicians heal thyself", and "no prophet is accept in his own country". My question would be is only the prophet able to heal? He is probably the closes one to God because of his dedication to God's work, and yet his closeness to God does not bring healing to everyone or even those of his own village. Elijah the prophet in 2 Kings Is good example of this very fact.
Jesus very words in this chapter angry many and they sought to kill him. Jesus was preaching in his home town where works of God had been performed even at a wedding party. Did his own neighbors and friends did not believe him why should anyone else? The answer is simple because miracles did happen by his ministry outside his hometown. Miracles happened outside of Galilee. When anyone says I love Jesus, and the world cries what did he do lately for you. The answer is saved me from sins, but what about miracles of healing or answer to prayer? Yet the believer cries I love Jesus.
Sometimes it sounds if I am mocking but in reality, I want you to think on a few things that are important, why did you receive the answer in prayer and others that pray seem to flounder in faith. Jesus already has the believer on the hookline, just waiting to reel him home, but he keeps floundering about in the word of faith. David a king, knew God could heal him of all his diseases, and yet others around him continued to be idolators. What is happening is it because we only believe and others claim it but continue in sin. There a point I am driving at, the person faith maybe the one testifying of the work of God but those around will say what said is true, but not testify themselves. The application of faith seems to be not in their life, or it easier to go to the doctor. It easier to not bother God with my problem. I have no time to worry if my healing is on his schedule, I will look elsewhere. Then one has the delays in being seen by earthly physician who may know all the ends and outs of how the body works, but no clue when it may decide it will correct itself with time, if the body to worn out to care, or maybe this medicine will work or maybe not. Yet all long we have the great physician Jesus to seek and do we, yet we say we love Jesus.
I do not advocate not going to a earthly physicians, just know what you are paying for the doctor to do, while you are waiting for God's timing the doctor is going to make you just a tad more comfortable hopefully or to make you feel more like yourself, if he can. How long did Galilie and Nazareth have to wait for Jesus to beging to heal his own village? I believe miracles came to Galilee after Christ cross in Jerusalem. Not saying no one was healed in Galilee before that time. Yet evidence came when he went back to his earthly home in Galilee for what forty day before deparing and seeing God the Father in heaven, by being lifted upward in the sight of witnesses. He did miracles and other works while he was in Galilee before being taken up into heaven.
Do you love Jesus for making you wait for your healing? For your miracle? For waiting to get to heaven? Even Jesus could not remain in heaven until the appointed time of departure, yet there evidence he did see the throne of God before going to Galilee. Take time to examine all the events and evidence of the time. It alot of information, and something must be taught by God's Spirit. If God is having you wait it going to be good. Claim your healing knowing his time is coming in your life for that healing whether in heaven or in earth it will be. How loud will you shout in heaven his praises, and how loud will you shout his praises on earth. Is our healing to glorify God and so how much testimony will you give in heaven, how much on earth of God's healing power. You do not speak up even about salvation, how is someone going to believe you about your healing. Salvation through faith in Christ is our spiritual healing that needs declaration for God's glory and honor. Do you love God enough to testify today?
Dear Heavenly Father, people were ready to kill Jesus, but it was not his time to die and so he escaped, to go forth to do miracles outside his home village and countryside. However He did heal in the land of Israel and he would heal in his hometown after the cross. Our waiting and revealing of your miracles God must be in your time. Help us to shout and sing your works. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

7 And go quickly, and tell his disciples that he is risen from the dead; and, behold, he goeth before you into Galilee; there shall ye see him: lo, I have told you.
8 And they departed quickly from the sepulchre with fear and great joy; and did run to bring his disciples word.
9 And as they went to tell his disciples, behold, Jesus met them, saying, All hail. And they came and held him by the feet, and worshipped him.
10 Then said Jesus unto them, Be not afraid: go tell my brethren that they go into Galilee, and there shall they see me.
11 Now when they were going, behold, some of the watch came into the city, and shewed unto the chief priests all the things that were done.
Acts 1:1-4 KJV
1 The former treatise have I made, O Theophilus, of all that Jesus began both to do and teach,
2 Until the day in which he was taken up, after that he through the Holy Ghost had given commandments unto the apostles whom he had chosen:
3 To whom also he shewed himself alive after his passion by many infallible proofs, being seen of them forty days, and speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God:
4 And, being assembled together with them, commanded them that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father, which, saith he, ye have heard of me.
