Loving God: Lesson 13 2/16/2022
Daily Devotions: by Christina FarrisJohn 17:12-26 KJV
12 While I was with them in the world, I kept them in thy name: those that thou gavest me I have kept, and none of them is lost, but the son of perdition; that the scripture might be fulfilled.
13 And now come I to thee; and these things I speak in the world, that they might have my joy fulfilled in themselves.
14 I have given them thy word; and the world hath hated them, because they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.
15 I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil.
16 They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.
17 Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.
18 As thou hast sent me into the world, even so have I also sent them into the world.
19 And for their sakes I sanctify myself, that they also might be sanctified through the truth.
20 Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word;
21 That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me.
22 And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one:
23 I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me.
24 Father, I will that they also, whom thou hast given me, be with me where I am; that they may behold my glory, which thou hast given me: for thou lovedst me before the foundation of the world.
25 O righteous Father, the world hath not known thee: but I have known thee, and these have known that thou hast sent me.
26 And I have declared unto them thy name, and will declare it: that the love wherewith thou hast loved me may be in them, and I in them.
Jesus on the night he was betrayed, he is praying to God the Father about his relationship with him as well as his relationship to us and to his Father. If someone tells you, you and them are not of this world, unbeliever might say what you were born on this planet, your not an alien. However we were not created for this planet, but create in truth for the Garden of Eden, yet we are in a place of non paradise because of sin. We were made in holiness and created in the image of God in the Garden of Eden. Adam was placed in the garden who is body perhaps is not made of Eden but outside the garden. Eve being made inside the garden gates. Lets stop the nick picking of location for a moment, what Christ is praying about is spiritual birth of those to come and being born by the truth of the word and the holiness of the world that makes one not part of the sinful world anymore, yet we live here in this sinful world.
Now the word Sanctify can mean two things to be cleansed by truth or dedicated to truth/and holiness. Jesus was clean by both truth and holiness of who he was and the word of God that made him holy from birth. God's word alone can not be tarnished, the idea of God turned in the image of holiness is not truth or no longer truth, or part of God. Truth can not be tarnished or called a liar. God's word still shines forth, without sin unto death and into the resurrection. This truth is Jesus. Now you and I wrestle with the truth of God. We wrestle because of our humanity and the untruth we are now born with outside the garden of Eden by long time ago parents of Adam and Eve. We hear a lie and we have to accept it as either being true, or that the lie is a lie. Truth and lies are perhaps sometimes hard to determine unless we establish the source of the information. Then it going to be what we know personally or on hypothesis of whether it is true or not, perhaps educated guess. Jesus said truth was established by three witnesses (God, his word and his Spirit). You and I know within our own hearts if we establish truth by what we see, hear and know to be true, one of them is lying, but that not true about God. Eye can be deceiving, the ears only hear half of the information it digest and what we know to be true is backed by the testimony of our ears, and eyes. It can also be backed by other sense, but it does not make it true always. We register stuff in our memory banks and discover later it was a misconception or understanding of any of our five senses, because our first response could be the truth, but it changes with thinking on the matter or fear. Because of this we can not sanctify anyone by our truth despite how accurate it is. Our holiness we obtain comes from God's truth. His unfallible truth. Our sins are covered by the blood of Jesus, his truth is not our sin, but that we are cleansed by his son his truth, his word. Yes until I get to the last line I sometimes wonder where I am headed, then I say Praise Jesus you saved me again.
Christ desires us in this prayer to be unified in the truth of God and his holiness, and not in the truth of ourselves alone, but in the evidence God gives his people. There is establishment of faith that must occur for all to be in agreement. It much like the laws of our land that never in true agreement with everyone but it is establishment of law that hopefully all can obey and if not they got the right to disobey with the consequences of the law. However with God's word/truth, it must be the foundation of our faith and trust in God so it must be established as such and not to be wishy washy but committed or established has truth because it is true, not because it is the law that is established to correct the law breaker. It is a establishment of God's word to cleanse us and sanctify us from the lies of the devil.
We might be able to compare our government to our faith, only at times truth does not reign in our government, yet it is except as truth by the majority. God's word is truth and anyone that believes not is a liar. The establishment of truth does not come from man in relationship to faith in God but in God's word alone by him, His Son and his Spirit all being in unity as one. The only way believers can love each other is to be unitified in the truth of who God, his Son and his Spirit is. Christ is teaching the disciples as he prays to pray for this unity to come, for the unity to be. It can only come by God, by his Word, who is Jesus and his Spirit. Jesus is going to the cross sanctified by God, because he obeyed the will of God and not only the will of God but the law of God. Yet on earth in the world he does not belong to by the fact he was not born in this world first but second, he is not of this world or design of this world, but of the place God is originally from. For his word came forth from him to create the heavens and the earth. A place not of our earth or heaven. Yet beyond our universe. Now with this understanding can we say we still love God, because he desires to unify the word by his truth. Not my humanity, but God's truth from the beginning of time before our world existed.
Can we love God in his truth and receive his truth to sanctify and to purge us from sin. His truth is called Jesus. Proof of who he is, and how much he loves his children. To prove his ability to die/end and to rise again/ to begin and to die and begin again in the newest of his truth of his word. Maybe to understand the love of God is love of God and self perservation as well. God knew when his Son died, he could bring it back. If we shut up long enough the truth of the word will be seen. It more then that our word is not truth, but God's word will be seen clearly by those around us, if we state and allow it to be buried to only be brought back when the truth of his prophesy happens.
Jesus' disciples recalled many things that he spoke, but not until it happened, did the reality of His God's word come to light and plant a seed of faith. We can only allow God's word to manifest in us so others can see our hope and the hope of faith in Christ unto belief. As a child we take what our elders say to be true, but in all truth we hear the lies told when we reach maturity or before. The things adults tell kids is amazing that some do not land up walking on their hands and not on their feet. It like no label should be removed if delivered to a blind person, without knowledge this sounds foolish, but if you know that technology has developed tool to read labels it is only hind sight, that not 20/20 in yesterday lesson.
Where is truth, but reality of God coming forth as truth to the unbeliever and believer to build faith. If God willing to establish, to plant a seed in all our hearts of his possibility first then we need to wait on his evidence or declaration of who he is, by first believing the words God is real and He sent his Son to deliver us from our sins. Can you love God, I can this morning and every morning, but memories and information fade, so it is God's job to keep our feet from slipping in the mud of lies. Not our own. If we allowed to see the lie, he going to allow us to have the cure for it too. Trust Jesus today.
Dear Heavenly Father thank you for your grace, your word, and your truth that sanctifies us to be holy people before you, because you are holy. In Jesus precious name, Amen.
Continual Scripture Study: ohn 2:19-25 KJV
19 Jesus answered and said unto them, Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.
20 Then said the Jews, Forty and six years was this temple in building, and wilt thou rear it up in three days?
21 But he spake of the temple of his body.
22 When therefore he was risen from the dead, his disciples remembered that he had said this unto them; and they believed the scripture, and the word which Jesus had said.
23 Now when he was in Jerusalem at the passover, in the feast day, many believed in his name, when they saw the miracles which he did.
24 But Jesus did not commit himself unto them, because he knew all men,
25 And needed not that any should testify of man: for he knew what was in man.
