Gifts For Jesus
12/22/2022

Daily Devotions:
by Christina Farris

Matthew 2:9-11 KJV
9 When they had heard the king, they departed; and, lo, the star, which they saw in the east, went before them, till it came and stood over where the young child was.
10 When they saw the star, they rejoiced with exceeding great joy.
11 And when they were come into the house, they saw the young child with Mary his mother, and fell down, and worshipped him: and when they had opened their treasures, they presented unto him gifts; gold, and frankincense, and myrrh.

What is your greatest Christmas gift this year? Is it the one you give or the one you get? Every year I like giving, but when I can not God still allows me to write for him. I do not claim what I do a talent or a gift, but some might claim it as that. This year we going to finish the story on time and that is my gift to you. However that not the type of gift the first Christmas that was received. We must remember that in Bethelehem as the taxation was going on people would of been coming and going, despite there was no room in the end, a house was found for Mary and Joseph, whether rented or only a room given, scripture does not say. My curious minds ask those question that in truth are unimportant. Mary did not remain in Bethelehem street with child or in a stable but a room was gained and Mary and the babe were found in a house by the wise men who followed the sign from God above who knew that even the enemies of God would know that a New King was born. Each night they watch for where the star would appear in the sky, and there they found the star over the house in Bethelehem. There was no denial of who the child was. I imagine perhaps there already been a line to see this child that was born. After all the shepherd in the field had found the place where the baby laid. What would you have given as gift, to a new born king. The wise men worshipped him and a they did so they brought forth treasures and gifts of gold, frankinscense and myrrh. The spices and ointments were perhaps used for diapering and tending to babies physical needs, including the gift of gold for anything material needed. Gifts need for the infant to help in his care and yet we look and we wonder about the treasures unfolded before the New King.

What is the treasure you lay at Christ feet, what is your offering before your New King, who died on the cross for your sins. A person lays down at the cross the unworthiness of who one is, for only God can see the treasurers that have shaped you into you you are. He takes those treasures of unworthiness and turns them into beauty of his salvation plan for your soul. Despite how ugly, or distasteful one's life has been, God grace cover all of a person's sin through the blood of Christ. He sees your worth before the cross and spread those arms to say I forgive you. You are his treasure he shines up and cleans, he takes and molds you into the vessel of worth. The first gifts given by the wise men had nothing to do with God's grace on man, but on the care of our Savior. If we love and care for our Savior what will we give to him. Will it be our talents that came before our salvation, will it be the talents that came by his grace. Will it be the talents and things he design for us to do. There are all types of talents out there for man to give to God. Talents here not meaning money but can be, but talking about our ability he graciously gives to each of us before and after salvation. Gifts that enable us to work, feed our families, help in our communities and our churches. When we give our life to him, we giving all the thing he enable us to do before our salvation and even after, but to use these things for his glory and honor.

May the gift you give Christ be the most unworthy gift of repentance first. For with in that unworthiness is the treasure of gold that will be used for God's kingdom and glory even on this earth. Give of yourself, the very part of your being to share the greatest gift of God. God's grace is sufficient for the treasurer of ourselves. We may feel unworthy to be at the cross, but the cross is where every sinner must go, in order to receive the best Christmas gift of all. Going to the cross and not only ask for salvation but ask him to allow his will to transform one's life. We are offering the treasure God had created within us to be cleaned up and shined by our Creators own hand that is our life that we lay down at the cross, because he laid his life down for you and me.

Dear Heavenly Father, may you unwrap the gift of soul, knowing every cranny that is unworthy can be transformed for your use here and in glory. May God take our life and use it for his glory and honor to spread the Gospel of His Jesus. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

Continual Scripture Study: 2 Corinthians 4:7 KJV
7 But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us.

Isaiah 45:3 KJV
3 And I will give thee the treasures of darkness, and hidden riches of secret places, that thou mayest know that I, the LORD, which call thee by thy name, am the God of Israel.
