Seen The Star
12/21/2022

Daily Devotions:
by Christina Farris

Matthew 2:1-6 KJV
1 Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judaea in the days of Herod the king, behold, there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem,
2 Saying, Where is he that is born King of the Jews? for we have seen his star in the east, and are come to worship him.
3 When Herod the king had heard these things, he was troubled, and all Jerusalem with him.
4 And when he had gathered all the chief priests and scribes of the people together, he demanded of them where Christ should be born.
5 And they said unto him, In Bethlehem of Judaea: for thus it is written by the prophet,
6 And thou Bethlehem, in the land of Juda, art not the least among the princes of Juda: for out of thee shall come a Governor, that shall rule my people Israel.

I grew up on Bible but I also grew up on cartoons, and fiction. I grew up on stories based on truth, and autobiographies, biographies, history and even science. When I throw all this information into one story, the story by itself would I believe scripture. Maybe not, because simply something must be taken on faith alone and can not be taken as proof to historian, or autobiographer, or even to writers of fictions of having merit without tangible evidence of something occuring. Now the story of the prophesy begins in Numbers 24:15 it was given to Baalam to be told to King Balak. The prophesy was that a king would rise out of Israel and shall smite the corners of Moab and destroy all the children of Sheth. This would happen when a Star out of Jacob came to be. This Star was Jesus. This prophesy was concerning Jesus' birth. The wisemen came to Jerusalem probably from the land of Moab or the region it was located in was east of Jerusalem. The area of Moab was still Moabite land at the time of Christ, but it was also at the time of Moses. Now not sure if that land expanded upward or if the enemy had taken territory and it was part of the land North of them. Yet if the capital was north it would be due east to Jerusalem passing the dead sea. If you looking at a Bible map try looking at the time of Christ before looking at the time of Moses. Who were these wise men that one's that carried that prophesy through the ages. They were magi/magicians/astrologers of the ancients that came seeking knowledge of who this new king was that was born in Jerusalem because he would spite/hit the corner of Moab.

How many would believe the story of the wise men that carried a prophesy carried by God people and the heathen into the time of Christ from the time of Moses. It seems hard to imagine a prophesy that old to be carried that far, but it was. Perhaps out of fear and perhaps out of a lack of knowledge of God's love for all people that would repent of sin. Balak was a king that desire to curse Israel and God would not allow Baalam to do so. Instead he gives them a prophesy against themselves. Though it only be a corner it would be a corner that be taken with evidence of the New Born King. The prophesy was real and not fake. It was from the God of Israel to them. How many of us would be gullible to follow the stars? If we to obstain from divination and magical arts then is not astrology part of this. Depends on where you standing and why you study the stars. Sailors study the stars to navigate the sea and it was also used in the desert for the same purpose. It was to be used in the begining as signs and times of year. Now I am not astronomer, so those things make little since, but if I study i probably learn that the stars, sun and moon also tell things like weather, and time of growing crops and so forth. If I study i probably know a little more then I know right now about something that helps those that travel by the stars and use nature as knowledge to help in their journey.

This one star the magi seen that shone brighter then all the rest told them that was the star of Jacob. They traveled to Jerusalem following the star and it stopped over the Palace, or appeared too. It seem to be directly over head, however Bethlehem was not that far away from Jerusalem. The wise men ask the king where the new king was. The King replied there no new king here. What are you talking about. They share the prophesy of old and the king got all the scribes and religious leaders together to find out about this king to be born. They said he would be born in Bethelehem. Before they depart the king inquired when the star appeared and asked them to bring back word of where this child was born so he could worship him also. To worship to adore, to honor a new king would be more of what the magi/wise men was going to do. King no doubt even at that point wish to kill Baby Jesus, not even knowing his name.

How many of us would believe the story if not raised on it. Not to many because it sounds like stories of fiction, and not a story of truth. Yet when the other evidence is added, it a story of legend coming to life. I not advocating doubt in facts presented, I am saying show the whole evidence we have in scripture to explain these men from afar coming to see the New King was the word of God and not only the star. God not only gave a sign but pronounced his Son coming to the government in Jerusalem(rome) at that time. God is not a God that only tells his people of coming event, he speaks to those that not only believes, but also the unbeliever that are force to obey because of his will. God's will would not allow Balaam to curse Israel, nor would he allow them to be harm until the coming of the Messiah in the since of total destruction. They will even be around at the second coming of Christ by the will of God.

One can not be blind to prophesy even if it seems strange to the hearer at first. Something the world does not understand is prophesy from old coming to light. The world works off of science, history and so forth but not prophesy coming to be. The prophetic word is a light to those that see it come to be. Yet it is only a glimpse of truth coming from God alone. It something to watch for and listen to the Spirit about. It something to share if God calls you to share it. It to help someone else in faith and prophesy is only a story til it comes to be. No it more to the believer it the word of God that can be taken to the bank even if it is the bank of Heaven to wait for the arrival of it. Believer know if in heaven at the time, it still will come to be. The star was a light to the Magi and the Moabites that knew the story.

Faith is more then just memorizing stories and verses. It about believing in God and not doubting his prophetic word will come to pass. Meaning the things he speaks to your heart about even if it never declared outloud or only at a later time as it coming to pass. There things God will speak to your heart about that only thing you can do is wait and see. Making sure if it not spoken you knew in your heart where it came from, and came from God to you directly.

Dear Heavenly Father when we seek your evidence of your word, let your word speak before the event in our life so we know you are the author of your will in our life and in the world around us. Help us to know what is truly from you, because your Spirit alone spoke it to us as believers in Christ. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

Continual Scripture Study: Numbers 24:15-17 KJV
15 And he took up his parable, and said, Balaam the son of Beor hath said, and the man whose eyes are open hath said:
16 He hath said, which heard the words of God, and knew the knowledge of the most High, which saw the vision of the Almighty, falling into a trance, but having his eyes open:
17 I shall see him, but not now: I shall behold him, but not nigh: there shall come a Star out of Jacob, and a Sceptre shall rise out of Israel, and shall smite the corners of Moab, and destroy all the children of Sheth.

Genesis 1:14-19 KJV
14 And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years:
15 And let them be for lights in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth: and it was so.
16 And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: he made the stars also.
17 And God set them in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth,
18 And to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness: and God saw that it was good.
19 And the evening and the morning were the fourth day.
