Seeking The New Born King 12/20/2022
Daily Devotions: by Christina FarrisLuke 2:15-20 KJV
15 And it came to pass, as the angels were gone away from them into heaven, the shepherds said one to another, Let us now go even unto Bethlehem, and see this thing which is come to pass, which the Lord hath made known unto us.
16 And they came with haste, and found Mary, and Joseph, and the babe lying in a manger.
17 And when they had seen it, they made known abroad the saying which was told them concerning this child.
18 And all they that heard it wondered at those things which were told them by the shepherds.
19 But Mary kept all these things, and pondered them in her heart.
20 And the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things that they had heard and seen, as it was told unto them.
The heavenly choir departed leaving the shepherd to not only wonder but to speak among themselves of what they just witnessed that night. Shepherds curious enough at the words of the angel said let us go see this thing that has come to pass which the Lord made known unto them. They did not delay but went with haste and found Mary and Joseph and babe lying in a manger. The shepherds upon seeing with their own eyes testified everywhere they went about what they seen that holy night. Mary would ponder and think on these thing. Shepherds also rejoiced and praise God for all they had seen and heard.
What would you do if angel visited you? What would you do if you had knowledge of an event when it was happening that is was something of God that would change the world. Jesus would change the world for eternity. He has been changing lives long before his birth as the Word of God alone but now in the flesh, he became Savior because what people would see was the miracles at his hands, wonders at his hands, and hear truth in their own language for the first time in years. Yet right in this chapter we see two things we as individuals must do to receive eternal life, one to seek out the truth to find Jesus, and to rejoice at finding our Lord and Savior. I can almost imagine the parade of people into Bethlehem to see this new baby at the testimony of the shepherds. I can only imagine that the surprise and delight of seeing the babe. Yet scripture only tells one more story of those seeking the new born King and that story will begin tomorrow. There is point if we seek not we will find not the Savior. We are like a rich man upon finding a great pearl, who was willing to sell all he had for that one pearl. When we give our hearts to Christ we are giving up all we know to him, giving up all we have for our eternity. It doesn't mean we sell all our possessions or things, but some people will. They will sell what they have, meaning loosing even their own earthly life for the gospel. There was time when Christians died for their faith, gave up their families and all to follow Jesus. Now with families growing in faith together and yet separate as individuals, they learn the walk of faith is not about just seeking out Jesus, but living in this world as people of faith as a testimony to others. We learn that our faith is more costly then gold, silver, diamonds and gems. We learn our faith is the most precious item we treasure and will not trade for the world or the devil's home.
If it means giving up the things of this world, the believer will continue to follow Jesus. For our life here is only a moment of time. A time to seek and time to search for knowledge of our Lord. To seek the truth of his word and how it applies in our world today. To seek the Christ who was resurrected after his cross. To seek the one that can save our soul. For God's word said that all that believed in Jesus would be saved. If God's word said it then look to Jesus is not looking to idol, but looking to the image of God in the flesh, because he is the word of God in the flesh. He being part of the Godhead bodily. Part of the Creator God and fully God in his part with all power to do God's will in the flesh and unto death, resurrection and into eternity. He is the light of the world. Can we be silent about finding Jesus for our own soul. Are we hiding the light of Christ out of fear of the powers of this world around us that do not love Christ or God's word.
Why is there no joy in the camp of believers, have we stop seeking for him to know his will for our life. Shepehrds found the will of God of carrying the gospel message of their Saviors birth. The joy of the Savior coming this holiday season can not be hiden by a earthen bank, but must shine forth around our land. Jesus Christ is born. That God has sent his Son to be the Savior to the world. That anyone that looks to him will be saved, not might, but will be saved for eternity. Are you seeking are you asking who is Jesus, I tell you He can be your Savior too. He is sought for and looked for through out scripture. If we read scripture, it will declare who Jesus is to you, for the Holy Spirit will make known who Christ is to you. We need be like the shepherds, but also like Mary that when we hear about our Savior and receive him as Lord, to ponder to think on these things as we share our own story of faith with another.
Dear Heavenly Father as we seek out the story of Jesus, let the true message from heaven reign in our hearts that whosoever believeth will be saved. That your message of peace and good will to all men, will sing out to the world. In Jesus precious name, Amen. Continual Scripture Study: Matthew 13:45-46 KJV
45 Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto a merchant man, seeking goodly pearls:
46 Who, when he had found one pearl of great price, went and sold all that he had, and bought it.

39 Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.
