So Prophesize
12/16/2022

Daily Devotions:
by Christina Farris

Luke 1:57-80 KJV
57 Now Elisabeth's full time came that she should be delivered; and she brought forth a son.
58 And her neighbours and her cousins heard how the Lord had shewed great mercy upon her; and they rejoiced with her.
59 And it came to pass, that on the eighth day they came to circumcise the child; and they called him Zacharias, after the name of his father.
60 And his mother answered and said, Not so; but he shall be called John.
61 And they said unto her, There is none of thy kindred that is called by this name.
62 And they made signs to his father, how he would have him called.
63 And he asked for a writing table, and wrote, saying, His name is John. And they marvelled all.
64 And his mouth was opened immediately, and his tongue loosed, and he spake, and praised God.
65 And fear came on all that dwelt round about them: and all these sayings were noised abroad throughout all the hill country of Judaea.
66 And all they that heard them laid them up in their hearts, saying, What manner of child shall this be! And the hand of the Lord was with him.
67 And his father Zacharias was filled with the Holy Ghost, and prophesied, saying,
68 Blessed be the Lord God of Israel; for he hath visited and redeemed his people,
69 And hath raised up an horn of salvation for us in the house of his servant David;
70 As he spake by the mouth of his holy prophets, which have been since the world began:
71 That we should be saved from our enemies, and from the hand of all that hate us;
72 To perform the mercy promised to our fathers, and to remember his holy covenant;
73 The oath which he sware to our father Abraham,
74 That he would grant unto us, that we being delivered out of the hand of our enemies might serve him without fear,
75 In holiness and righteousness before him, all the days of our life.
76 And thou, child, shalt be called the prophet of the Highest: for thou shalt go before the face of the Lord to prepare his ways;
77 To give knowledge of salvation unto his people by the remission of their sins,
78 Through the tender mercy of our God; whereby the dayspring from on high hath visited us,
79 To give light to them that sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the way of peace.
80 And the child grew, and waxed strong in spirit, and was in the deserts till the day of his shewing unto Israel.

As parents took their baby boy to be dedicated to the Lord and brought to sanctuary eight days after the birth, The question came is what are you going to name this beautiful baby. It began with the mother saying John, but no one excepting the name. Zacharias asked for paper and he wrote on the parchment the name John and as soon as he did, his tongue was loosen. Remember Zacharias two devotions back could not talk anymore because he believed not the angel.

Elizabeth from the moment of John birth began to testify and praise the Lord. Her joy complete with the birth of her son. Zacharias mouth was still shut. I have to wonder if he was wondering why he could not speak. When he spoke, he began to prophesize. Zacharias no longer mouth sealed by God but his tongue was loosen to testify not only the name but the reason for the special birth and all he knew from not only scripture but the angel that had spoken to him. I sure he himself began searching scripture at the time of the sealing of his mouth, or I would have looking for inforamation about the coming Messiah and this forerunner to Christ. Not that he knew nothing, but a reflection of anything he might of missed when reading about their coming.

The prophesy began by speaking of salvation coming, of deliverance from Israel enemies. That the coming was spoken of since the beginning of the world. That they would be a light to the world, Even salvation to those in darkness(enemies). That it would be a testimony to the world around them. It was to teach peace.

The child grew and had a strong spirit, and he remained in the deserts until the day of his shewing unto Israel. Before he began to preach and baptize the people for repentance of sin. and to testify of kingdom of heaven was at hand. A joyful story so it is, but what is it to testify what is it to bring forth the news of the coming of both John The Baptist and Jesus Christ?

Title of the mesage is So Prophesize. I only know for a season of my own life, my quietness not to speak. I like to talk and those that know me know that about me, those who are barely friends probably do not know that. However those that do, know if I can speak I will. For season and for a reason I could only sit and watch the world go around and past me. It was only in those moments I learned to watch and pray about what I saw. Ministers are taught to speak, to teach, to go forth and share the Gospel. Writers are taught to put their words down in a way of praise. Zacharias a priest could not speak, only write the name down, and as his tongue was loosen he spoke with the words of prophesy so those hearing could understand, why this event took place in his life and he began to tell them about the hope their God was sending with this little boy and the little boy to come.

I heard of nuns taking a vow of silence some by choice and others told to remain quiet. And if God has ordained it they spoke not what they saw or heard til the time of their vow was taken away. John the Apostle wrote down the book of Revelations the time of which the angel and Christ spoke to him to record for future generations and well as the current church. What John saw in his time, he could not prophesize about but had paper and pen in which to write it down. A blessing to record events that no one should have to see of horrors of end days, but also the time of joy of Christ coming and his redemption for eternity written out for all mankind to read. As nations and languages learned about Christ and God by God's Spirit and missionaries that took the Gospel to them, the Bible was recorded into many languages to tell of the prophesy to come and prophesy of the past. Zacharias spoke of prophesy coming in his day, and yet he spoke because he knew the hope was coming to the people and the world around him. His people, the priesthood was told first of this coming, those in the temple heard him that day. Those listen ever hearing but never perceiving the full meaning of what was said. Zacharias silence was by the hand of God and not a vow of silence. Yet it was for a purpose for him to see what God was saying to him through angel of the birth and importance of his son's birth.

We might not fully understand the full book of scripture, but God speaks volumns of his love when he sent his Son. People are silent to faith, think others have heard the story of Christ, John the Baptist and their parents. How many open their mouths this time of year to tell these stories outloud to family and friends that are near. When the last time family held a Christmas vigil of sorts to rely the whole story and not just one chapter of Christmas. The story not long just four chapters to read, the story of Christmas and the hope that God was bring to the world through his message of peace. Let us prophesy, let us read the story to those that will lesson and let us tell the story of the coming of the Messiah and his forerunner who came to give light and hope to the world.

Dear Heavenly Father, help each one that hear's the message to Prophesy to speak out of the hope to the world not just one chapter of hope, but the full Christmas story. Lord teach people and those that will hear the story of Christmas so short and so dear to us that believe. Help us to share your message of hope. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

Continual Scripture Study: Mark 16:15-16 KJV
15 And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.
16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.
