Daily Devotions: by Christina FarrisLuke 1:39-45 KJV
39 And Mary arose in those days, and went into the hill country with haste, into a city of Juda;
40 And entered into the house of Zacharias, and saluted Elisabeth.
41 And it came to pass, that, when Elisabeth heard the salutation of Mary, the babe leaped in her womb; and Elisabeth was filled with the Holy Ghost:
42 And she spake out with a loud voice, and said, Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb.
43 And whence is this to me, that the mother of my Lord should come to me?
44 For, lo, as soon as the voice of thy salutation sounded in mine ears, the babe leaped in my womb for joy.
45 And blessed is she that believed: for there shall be a performance of those things which were told her from the Lord.
God's confirmation of the events prior to there coming with Mary so young had to be secured in her heart and memory by the power of the Holy Spirit. For the young the story of old maybe believed on faith, but for some there so much doubt and question of how, what, when and where that to take on pure faith is hard. Children learn to question things growing up. They learn not to value their elders words because of lies they tell their children to teach them to seek truth. And yet the lies are the things when they learn teach them to question things they are forever seeing in their world around them and their events. Is it a bad thing to question. Not in the least but faith had no room for doubt beyond the searching out of truth. King Josephat was one king that God even sent a lying spirit too. How do we believe God? How do we know God's word is true. That what we are told will come to pass. We learn by God demonstarting his power in our life as we learn to listen to His Spirit.
Mary educated by the same educator as other little jewish girls and yet she is force to decide to believe not only an angel but that he sent from God. To rid any doubt she told Elizabeth is having a baby, a tangible evidence that what the angel told her would come to pass that she could seek out to see if it was true. Though Mary shows no doubt when it came to the angel's words, she hurries to see her cousin who is suppose to be pregnant.
The baby in the womb would bear witness of who Mary was, when he leaped inside his mother. Elizabeth would speak the words of the Holy Spirit in praise to God and prophesy to Mary of who she is as the mother of her Lord. Mary did not have time to tell her, the news she carried in her heart of the words of the angel when Elizabeth began to speak and testify. Elizabeth knew Mary was pregnant with Jesus. This event in time would of been a faith booster for Mary. A testimony of the hope she herself carried in her womb. John the Baptist was the forerunner of Christ.
Faith comes with seeing, Faith comes with hearing, Faith comes with evidence we learn to believe because he spoke to our hearts before it happened. Yet faith comes and then when we told in our hearts of something else coming, we do not say it will not be, but it will be by the will of God. Faith takes time to build. Don't believe everyone that says they a prophet, and realize God going to speak to your heart first whether your listening or not. God will confirm in your heart the truth of his word through sometimes another source. Elizabeth was Mary other source. The prophesy by the angel would come to pass.
Faith in the impossible being possible take faith, but to witness it occuring take sight to know God's word is being fulfilled in one's life. It is a special thing to know God shared something important with you that was happening in the world in which we live. It a greater joy knowing He leaves evidence of joyful events and not always words of destruction. God prophesize hope as well to his nation and to individuals the hope would come through.
Dear Heavenly Father, help us to believe your word on faith without doubt. Help us to seek the truth in all things you speak to our heart about. In Jesus precious name, Amen.
