Daily Devotions:
by Christina Farris

Luke 15:19-32 KJV
19 And am no more worthy to be called thy son: make me as one of thy hired servants.
20 And he arose, and came to his father. But when he was yet a great way off, his father saw him, and had compassion, and ran, and fell on his neck, and kissed him.
21 And the son said unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and in thy sight, and am no more worthy to be called thy son.
22 But the father said to his servants, Bring forth the best robe, and put it on him; and put a ring on his hand, and shoes on his feet:
23 And bring hither the fatted calf, and kill it; and let us eat, and be merry:
24 For this my son was dead, and is alive again; he was lost, and is found. And they began to be merry.
25 Now his elder son was in the field: and as he came and drew nigh to the house, he heard musick and dancing.
26 And he called one of the servants, and asked what these things meant.
27 And he said unto him, Thy brother is come; and thy father hath killed the fatted calf, because he hath received him safe and sound.
28 And he was angry, and would not go in: therefore came his father out, and intreated him.
29 And he answering said to his father, Lo, these many years do I serve thee, neither transgressed I at any time thy commandment: and yet thou never gavest me a kid, that I might make merry with my friends:
30 But as soon as this thy son was come, which hath devoured thy living with harlots, thou hast killed for him the fatted calf.
31 And he said unto him, Son, thou art ever with me, and all that I have is thine.
32 It was meet that we should make merry, and be glad: for this thy brother was dead, and is alive again; and was lost, and is found.

I want to talk about the perfect son, the one that did it all the right way and obeyed God with no regrets until he sees the harlot, his brother, who sinned not only against himself but took others with him in his whoredom from the ways of God. I wondered if he knew forgiveness as the son did, or did he just believe to the point he understood his repentance was act of obedience to God, that he consider himself clean by traditions and the law, to the point he could not see his own whoredom that occured with his judgment and jealousy.

Being deceive by the harlot is one of the oldest sins in scripture but not the only sin, but it was also a career for many of women, taken in war, taken by lust of a man and so forth. Some case man lust causes rape, some cases misunderstood as really being an act of rape. Harlot usually thought of as only a women, but it effects even a man who just wanted to have sexual activity for money. Yet it more then that. She selling her very well being to a stranger. To someone who will care not the sin he is buying effects her soul or her mental well being, he sees it as a trade or a type of work, so he cares nothing for her. Only paying for her service or duty to his own satisfication. A whore being a woman that looks at her body as a way to make money or her livilihood. Whether she is good or not she gets paid to do what is normally consider something done only for love and marriage.

Someone willing to tatoo their bodies with even a billboard is a type of whore, but most would say if they use the product then what the harm, it something they love or at minimum like, but some people a few years ago were selling parts of their body to be tatooed or painted for companies to make a statement. Some would not call that prostitution, but just healthy way to make money using one's body. Yet does it sell a piece of your soul, only if you do not agree with what you are advertising? No worse then wearing a T-shirt or hat right for no money, could you be called a slut then. The answer is simple is that enough of my rant? People wear what they love, but if they are wearing what you gaining money for, it could be a form of prostition. And if you wearing it are you married to the product because it something you buy. In other words united for the cause. The pizza guy dancing to attract people in or the restuarant who sends a employ to wear the cow suit, prosituting for money or is that ingenious money making idea.

What evil is in prostitution? One is selling something God created. Many crafters use art to sell does that make them a pimp. No, yet does selling God's word make one a servant, or a person of hire. Why is one that sells sex any different, then someone performing a service or act of convince. Even Jacob used a harlot that was really his daughter in law. What the point, he would of had her killed, if she had not revealed her identy finally to him. Shame him because he had not given her his son in marriage. By tradition one had to marry another brother's wife if the brother died. That sounds crazy in itself.

Customs in scripture what is evil what is not. What is whoredom to God, the sexual act, the worship of idols, or the reliance on other things for provision and need before God. Then why would fornication be evil, harlot life style wrong if what we do with our earthly bodies is only temporal use of a shell not meant for eternity. It is simple our shell is to be a temple for God, a temporary outerwear of the eternal inwear of the eternal soul. Anything effecting the purity of the outer garment is effecting the inner garment of the soul not by human standards, God's standards. Yet it not going to stop people from wearing logos, signs, piercings or tatooes for something they like, money or expression. After all the tshirt covers the essentials right?

The brother who been faithful to his father was attacked by jealousy, judgmental attitude toward his brother who returned. Who gone out and sinned with harlots, and his own body. Taking all his wealth to live in sin. Is what we advertise healthy for our well being? Is what we see and view healthy for our soul? Some of us are so numb to sin of the world we just look over it and keep going and others see sin and say I like to try that. Does that remind you of being a teen. Some adults never out grow it or hush it til they retire and act as if they sixteen again or young adult living in the impurity of that age or older. Never learning that what was wrong during those rebellious years is still wrong even in moderation.

Jacob was caught in what was known sin, but also causing his daughter in law to sin. Not realizing she did it to betray him. How you use your body now is just as important yesterday. How you abuse your body in rebellion to the law, of God and to your own insanity, is just as wrong as it was before.

The son that never left is in self-righteous mode, never checking to see what caused his brother to return, or receive forgiveness from the father. Why would we judge the forgiveness of another. Nothing wrong asking a person how they could forgive. Did the brother jealousy almost cause him to loose what was most precious to him. What did Father tell him. Father tells his good son what is mine is already yours, but be happy your brother was lost but now is found.

Your inheritance is already yours, but your brother lost and now is found is what saved or a servant. Has his brother's status changed? He still a son. His position has son never changed his sin however changed and his inheritance squander. Is there any inheritance left for him, a wise father would seen what was going to happen perhaps and set some back, or he would have to earn his keep, by serving his brother and father. Nothing free in our world, but God did not change his brother's status. God is not changing your status of a believer in your rebellion of who family you belong to when you sin, because you can not be a whore and a doer of God's word beyond normal social graces. The punishment for sin still intact, or is there only correction of the earthly kind, the sin is not eternal, it fleshly, one only defiled his outer shell and only enter shell if it cause disease and so forth. Caused a continual bad habit that effects the soul. Those things must be done away with. The son that return to the life style that was laid aside, upon realizing what he had was worth having, was willing even to serve for it. To him it was worth joining and being part of the army of God. He laid his whoredom of life style down when he returned. He turned away from sin.

The son that remained always with his father, understood not that the other son repentance of turning away was enough for his father. God only wants us to turn from sin, to keep believing. Even the devil believes but repents not. If whoredom of sin against God's ways is impairing your relationship, you have the power to repent(turn from sin) and follow after your Heavenly Father and his Son(Word). You do not have to remain in opposition to God, for he will restore you. Harlot life might be old trade, but what are you selling, is it your very soul?

Dear Heavenly Father, we come not only believing but repenting and seeking forgiveness of anything in our life that is not of you. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

Leviticus 19:25-34 KJV
25 And in the fifth year shall ye eat of the fruit thereof, that it may yield unto you the increase thereof: I am the LORD your God.
26 Ye shall not eat any thing with the blood: neither shall ye use enchantment, nor observe times.
27 Ye shall not round the corners of your heads, neither shalt thou mar the corners of thy beard.
28 Ye shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor print any marks upon you: I am the LORD.
29 Do not prostitute thy daughter, to cause her to be a whore; lest the land fall to whoredom, and the land become full of wickedness.
30 Ye shall keep my sabbaths, and reverence my sanctuary: I am the LORD.
31 Regard not them that have familiar spirits, neither seek after wizards, to be defiled by them: I am the LORD your God.
32 Thou shalt rise up before the hoary head, and honour the face of the old man, and fear thy God: I am the LORD.
33 And if a stranger sojourn with thee in your land, ye shall not vex him.
34 But the stranger that dwelleth with you shall be unto you as one born among you, and thou shalt love him as thyself; for ye were strangers in the land of Egypt: I am the LORD your God.

John 8:1-11 KJV
1 Jesus went unto the mount of Olives.
2 And early in the morning he came again into the temple, and all the people came unto him; and he sat down, and taught them.
3 And the scribes and Pharisees brought unto him a woman taken in adultery; and when they had set her in the midst,
4 They say unto him, Master, this woman was taken in adultery, in the very act.
5 Now Moses in the law commanded us, that such should be stoned: but what sayest thou?
6 This they said, tempting him, that they might have to accuse him. But Jesus stooped down, and with his finger wrote on the ground, as though he heard them not.
7 So when they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said unto them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her.
8 And again he stooped down, and wrote on the ground.
9 And they which heard it, being convicted by their own conscience, went out one by one, beginning at the eldest, even unto the last: and Jesus was left alone, and the woman standing in the midst.
10 When Jesus had lifted up himself, and saw none but the woman, he said unto her, Woman, where are those thine accusers? hath no man condemned thee?
11 She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more.
