Daily Devotions:
by Christina Farris

Exodus 24:1-7 KJV
1 And he said unto Moses, Come up unto the LORD, thou, and Aaron, Nadab, and Abihu, and seventy of the elders of Israel; and worship ye afar off.
2 And Moses alone shall come near the LORD: but they shall not come nigh; neither shall the people go up with him.
3 And Moses came and told the people all the words of the LORD, and all the judgments: and all the people answered with one voice, and said, All the words which the LORD hath said will we do.
4 And Moses wrote all the words of the LORD, and rose up early in the morning, and builded an altar under the hill, and twelve pillars, according to the twelve tribes of Israel.
5 And he sent young men of the children of Israel, which offered burnt offerings, and sacrificed peace offerings of oxen unto the LORD.
6 And Moses took half of the blood, and put it in basons; and half of the blood he sprinkled on the altar.
7 And he took the book of the covenant, and read in the audience of the people: and they said, All that the LORD hath said will we do, and be obedient.

The first writers perhaps would be God instruction to early man to make a record, earliest record is in the book of Genesis chapter 5. The thing recorded were for a covenant between God an man. Christ became the new covenant between God and man. earliest records were God's words written down by man. Yet God also wrote as he scribed into stone not only the laws, but the instruction on building the tabernacle and an ark. The stones with the laws on it were to be placed in the ark of the covenant. Moses delay in coming from spending time with God on Mount Sinai, caused man to sin with idolatry in the camp. Yet God did not remove his covenant with man. He would place the covenant in the heart of man in the New Testament. Man sin caused man to condemn man to death. Yet man had mercy to those that feared God and did not bow to molten calf.(Exodus 24 begins that story).

God writting would be restore by him after events of the molten calf. God's covenant important to man. His laws, what expect for man was important. It was recorded first on rock and then parchment paper for scrolls and later on paper has we know it today. God's word is one of God's greatest gifts to man. Yet God word does not stop man from breaking his word, or changing his word to suit themselves.

We all are responsible for knowing God's word. To study, to learn, to be a workman of faith. Yet many people study God's word and never get saved or adhere to it. God's word must be taken into our hearts to be saved. Christ must come into our hearts to be saved.

The first writers may have recorded only God's word according to scripture, but it was about early man and about God's instructions to man. Man can not deny the power of Go to write, or inspire his people to write and record his word. Yet there is inspiration to write that is all over the world and is not inspired by God and has little value to man. Yet books are written and story told. I was telling my husband the other day how jokes often tell some truth to an event. Just like Old Negro spirituals told the story of a way to freedom. God's word is a road map for the believer. All truth about who God is in his word that leads to freedom through his Son.

Tribes and kingdoms made records. Some of the earliest writting recorded were on a rosetta stone style of writting. It contain more then one language, each language being the same message in that language. What we know as the rosetta stone that unlocked the key to other ancients stones much older then the Rossetta stone. Rossetta stone being in three known language by historians. Making it easier to decipher even older manuscripts of languages that change over time. Writings and history of a people. Let us not forget this talent or that the mystery of even God's word of even older manuscripts were unlocked by knowledge and records of newer translations. There are people that may read our more modern Bibles and be able to study some of the more ancient text because of it. My first Bible was King James Version, my newest translation was New American Standard and New International Version. Let me not leave out English version. Some translation are good and some bad. comparing often good idea when lack of understanding. Yet better to go verse by verse, some translations loose the meaning of God's word. We all start somewhere when studying God's word, and so a newer translation or version is not evil, but must be compared to older translations. May God's word never be so water down. That man will see the true value of God's word. No one is perfect we all fall short of the glory of God. Let those that write do so, those that write other things or stories understand the difference that their words will one day pass away but God's word will always remain.

Dear Heavenly Father, may your word remain in the heart of man, May it remain in our world as a light of who you are. Thank you for your written word. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

Continual Scripture Study: Genesis 5:1 KJV
1 This is the book of the generations of Adam. In the day that God created man, in the likeness of God made he him;

Ecclesiastes 12:8-14 KJV
8 Vanity of vanities, saith the preacher; all is vanity. 9 And moreover, because the preacher was wise, he still taught the people knowledge; yea, he gave good heed, and sought out, and set in order many proverbs.
10 The preacher sought to find out acceptable words: and that which was written was upright, even words of truth.
11 The words of the wise are as goads, and as nails fastened by the masters of assemblies, which are given from one shepherd.
12 And further, by these, my son, be admonished: of making many books there is no end; and much study is a weariness of the flesh.
13 Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.
14 For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.

1 Timothy 2:11 KJV
11 Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection.

1 Thessalonians 4:9-12 KJV
9 But as touching brotherly love ye need not that I write unto you: for ye yourselves are taught of God to love one another.
10 And indeed ye do it toward all the brethren which are in all Macedonia: but we beseech you, brethren, that ye increase more and more;
11 And that ye study to be quiet, and to do your own business, and to work with your own hands, as we commanded you;
12 That ye may walk honestly toward them that are without, and that ye may have lack of nothing.

2 Timothy 2:15 KJV
15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
