Daily Devotions:
by Christina Farris

Ezekiel 27:12-24 KJV
12 Tarshish was thy merchant by reason of the multitude of all kind of riches; with silver, iron, tin, and lead, they traded in thy fairs.
13 Javan, Tubal, and Meshech, they were thy merchants: they traded the persons of men and vessels of brass in thy market.
14 They of the house of Togarmah traded in thy fairs with horses and horsemen and mules.
15 The men of Dedan were thy merchants; many isles were the merchandise of thine hand: they brought thee for a present horns of ivory and ebony.
16 Syria was thy merchant by reason of the multitude of the wares of thy making: they occupied in thy fairs with emeralds, purple, and broidered work, and fine linen, and coral, and agate.
17 Judah, and the land of Israel, they were thy merchants: they traded in thy market wheat of Minnith, and Pannag, and honey, and oil, and balm.
18 Damascus was thy merchant in the multitude of the wares of thy making, for the multitude of all riches; in the wine of Helbon, and white wool.
19 Dan also and Javan going to and fro occupied in thy fairs: bright iron, cassia, and calamus, were in thy market.
20 Dedan was thy merchant in precious clothes for chariots.
21 Arabia, and all the princes of Kedar, they occupied with thee in lambs, and rams, and goats: in these were they thy merchants.
22 The merchants of Sheba and Raamah, they were thy merchants: they occupied in thy fairs with chief of all spices, and with all precious stones, and gold.
23 Haran, and Canneh, and Eden, the merchants of Sheba, Asshur, and Chilmad, were thy merchants.
24 These were thy merchants in all sorts of things, in blue clothes, and broidered work, and in chests of rich apparel, bound with cords, and made of cedar, among thy merchandise.

If we back up to when scripture mentions some of these trade goods in scripture, you find some things in Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers and Deutronomy. Where they from Israel, not necessarily. Merchants often know how to talk or speak more then one language. Some type of sign in order to make a "good trade". Trade routes being established by sailors all over the world, and even Israelites and Arabs in the desert. No doubt Israel had their traders as well. Their commerce based on each city that set up shops, or large market square to do their trading. All the fineries of metal works, fabrics, stones, embordiery work on clothing and so forth.

Bible often seem so many centuries ago with only see shepherds in the field we fail to relish the market place and trade goods being interchanged all over the known world an even Bible people. Ideas of primitive life style maybe the lack of running water, or fast means of travel, yet it more then that, it about a life style living to the least cost for that day an time. Amish life seems primitive to many, but in reality, it just the basics of life without all the gadgets of modern society seen in every group.

The Bible speaks of wealth among event he Israelites in the wilderness. Bracelettes and gold gather for the making of the idol calf. Yet those same items were gather for the creating of the tabernacle for God and gathered to making a place to worship God, and yet no one seem to want to enter in. God was before them by a cloud and a fire by night, and yet they were still carrying all their wealth with them.

Where we going with this portion of scripture in Ezekiel 27. Tyrus and the merchants that sold their trades there, we going to go to the destruction of Tyrus. Yet what see today is the productivity of a nation about to be destroyed. Our nation only got a taste of our wealth. Yet people around the world in recent decades have been faced with abandonment of their homes, because of ethnic cleansing, and government of another swept in and either killed or chased them to a refugee camp. Where they literally had to start over from scratch. Some need even new ID cards as well. Yet the world watches and see the horror but they feel no pain, unless they able to sympathize with the victim or see it in person. Most of us can understand it with one pandemic. Even those that enter the food bank lines. Yet the wealth of our nation now seen by our own people to provide for them in a crisis as they help other nations around the world. Yet other nations know our wealth only desire it as well. The Asian market bill was past some years ago. It made the news, but it been over ten years I think, during time of Obama Presidency. Yet our nation needs not their trade or do we. If we examine two things, my plug for my computer came from China. It has a flaw in its design that bad for long term undestruction. Wires thin easy to break even at the plug in. American want quality in their products. Things not to break. Our value is our homes our families, and not our gadgets. Our wealth is our homes and our families.

American greatest wealth is found in God almighty and Christ Jesus. Our greatest wealth preached by the church communities and Gospel workers in the field. Yet does it take a crisis for us to see true value. I think not, because of our chariety around the world. The missions of the churches to give and give. I get angry sometimes thinking how much our nation gives and then I look around the world and see so many changes that have occured because we gave. We can not think that God not taking care of our nation, maybe help us see our nations wealth. That what we need is to make sure things get to where they suppose to go, to help even our own people best.

Personally going through a crisis is bad, but looking at trade goods as a necessity, enable to see what is of value. Yet all these trade goods produce money to live off of. It gives man the ability to support himself, and provides him with a daily task to make a living. Many things to be thankful for, and many things to understand their value is vaporing beyond the cost of which it takes to make certain items.

What does God offer man? God gave man the ability to gain skills and knowledge. Wisdom to care for his needs, and yet he also takes the wilderness in our life to teach us dependency on him. Even the widow that feed Elijah had to sell the oil, for her provision and clear her debt. There times manna has to fall from heaven and quail. God's people rest on this, and not the money of their hands. The capitalist that trust solely on money and their own labor are with the true knowledge of the benefits of being a child of God. True benefits as a child with the gifts that will be with us through eternity. The things of this earth for our pleasure and enjoyment, but we can not take them with us.

Dear Heavenly Father, the wealth created by products of the earth, made and created even into new and wonderful trade goods can not compare to what you offer the believers of faith. Help us to gain that wisdom of what you offer is greater then all man has to offer. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

Continual Scripture Study: 1 Kings 10:13 KJV
13 And king Solomon gave unto the queen of Sheba all her desire, whatsoever she asked, beside that which Solomon gave her of his royal bounty. So she turned and went to her own country, she and her servants.
