Ship Builder 08/08/2022
Daily Devotions: by Christina FarrisEzekiel 27:1-9 KJV
1 The word of the LORD came again unto me, saying,
2 Now, thou son of man, take up a lamentation for Tyrus;
3 And say unto Tyrus, O thou that art situate at the entry of the sea, which art a merchant of the people for many isles, Thus saith the Lord GOD; O Tyrus, thou hast said, I am of perfect beauty.
4 Thy borders are in the midst of the seas, thy builders have perfected thy beauty.
5 They have made all thy ship boards of fir trees of Senir: they have taken cedars from Lebanon to make masts for thee.
6 Of the oaks of Bashan have they made thine oars; the company of the Ashurites have made thy benches of ivory, brought out of the isles of Chittim.
7 Fine linen with broidered work from Egypt was that which thou spreadest forth to be thy sail; blue and purple from the isles of Elishah was that which covered thee.
8 The inhabitants of Zidon and Arvad were thy mariners: thy wise men, O Tyrus, that were in thee, were thy pilots.
9 The ancients of Gebal and the wise men thereof were in thee thy calkers: all the ships of the sea with their mariners were in thee to occupy thy merchandise.
Phoenicians came from Noah son Canaan, who had a son name Sidon and his people were people of the sea, who were fishermen by trade, sailors, and builders of ships. If we wanted to stop there we could, but let put on our thinking caps about how people traveled at sea, by the stars alone at night and in the day by the Sun. Navigation being learn early on. If a storm blew in, a ship lost at sea, may never be found, yet it might find a piece of land. If all they had was their ship and precious cargo, it is how people got stranded on a desert Island with the knowledge of the ark. No doubt Canaan told his son how him and grandpa built an ark with his other siblings. Bible from Genesis 10 has many generation. The importants of generation would have to be what did they do for a living, and where did the people go across the land and sea. In this case ship builders would of settle even besides sea of Galilee and Dead sea, and so forth to make smaller vessels. Yet the big sea project would of been on the Mediteraen coast. These people would of become merchants of the sea as well as builders of their vessels. Now where does this information come from research of who the people of Sidon were. A major seaport was Tyrus. speaking of the people of the sea, people of the isles of the sea, and who they were and how they built their ships.
Career choice after the flood, was one to be an explorer to that huge mass of water that laid before their eyes. Wondering perhaps if there was any survivors besides his own family and yet because of their chosen career it would cost them some of their families stranded at sea or on an island in the middle of what they thought nowhere was.
Another career besides exploring that came out of it, was building ships, and by the time Ezekiel came into history these ships were mighty in design and creativity for that era. Even to the caulking of the ship, and the furniturings, carpentry, taperestry and so forth. They made benches from ivory from tusk of elephants, boards of fir from Senir. Glamorous sailing vessels of the rich. Not denying themselves any luxury at sea. Making large masses to guide the ship when the wind blew. All these careers developing over time, to create fleets of vessel for the military at sea, and even the pirate ships.
It is so easy to forget the time it takes to build each part of a ship, or to even decorate it. Imagine build the house of your dreams from the ground up. now you got to go weave your fabric, cut your own wood for wood slats you make and even mold your own pots, paint your own pictures for the wall, and take time to enjoy your creation.
Moses own ark was made of bulrushes with slime and pitch to seal it tight to keep it from sinking. His mother design to building the little ark of safety for her baby, in hopes no one would find him. A ship a vessel to go exploring and a ship searching for somewhere beyond the horizon. Yet these vessels were not so simple along the coast line, the ones that went to tyrus and around Mediteraen were like our modern cruise ship or better quality then one person's design.
God builds the interworking of our lives, whether career, whether a pathway in which we travel, he also guiding our feet to smooth pathway, ironed out by his handiwork. The road the journey of life for a career, for provision of livilihood is not just about the career choice of man, but the things God decorates our life with. Not every city that was sailed too, were people of faith, not even the Phoenicians necessarily worshipped God of scripture. Yet the knowledge of one true God was a constant reminder as they built ship with perhaps some of the arks original design. We choose who we allow to dress us our very soul. God wants to put everlasting furnishings of faith and design in our hearts. Writing upon the very wall of our soul called our heart his very laws of faith. Sealing us with his mark by the Holy Spirit that we are a child of his.
We has people of flesh, put in our heart and soul not everything that is the Lord's, but sometimes the evil of the world around us. We decorated with things in our heart that will one day be consumed, along with those things not consumed. Our memories of love ones before us waiting in heaven, as well as those memories of events in our life that we know God's hand was in it. We tuck a few things in that were evil and not of God. God goes about cleansing those areas not of him. Yet we still take it in. Who is your design of your soul, who decorates within your heart the things you value most in this world. Does God dress along with you things of value, or does the devil clutter it with his filth and his evil. Are these only the outward material of dressing ourselves up with the right bluejeans, dress shirt and cowboy hat. Are these things tangible. What about the person with the suit and tie, the worn out pants, and t-shirt. The outside maybe covered but what about the inside of our heart, how are you decorating your life and with who?
Dear Heavenly Father, dress our ship, and make it a vessel of honor and not dishonor with the material within that makes people be your people of faith, guiding us with strength of your word, the dressing of your love we need to share, and compassion of joy, hope and so forth. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

3 And when she could not longer hide him, she took for him an ark of bulrushes, and daubed it with slime and with pitch, and put the child therein; and she laid it in the flags by the river's brink.
2 Timothy 2:19-21 KJV
19 Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity.
20 But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth; and some to honour, and some to dishonour.
21 If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master's use, and prepared unto every good work.
