Man's Early Career
08/01/2022

Daily Devotions:
by Christina Farris

Genesis 1:26-31 KJV
26 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.
27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.
28 And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.
29 And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat.
30 And to every beast of the earth, and to every fowl of the air, and to every thing that creepeth upon the earth, wherein there is life, I have given every green herb for meat: and it was so.
31 And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. And the evening and the morning were the sixth day.

This month we be talk about career choices beginning, that began with early man in scripture. This first career is the begining of early zoologist, animal tamer, veternarian, biology and botany, horticulture, and herbilogy/herbalist, to name a few. The first farmers to tend to daily food needs. God gave man a job to care for animals and to learn to gather food from plants and herbs. This being a staple to keep man alive, but it also a career that continues on today. A job that would continue even with the punishment of early man, including the eating of bread until the day one's demise. Herbs did two things it gave man a means to heal their diseases and food to eat. Plant life in and outside the garden was given for food. Green vegetables were to be used for meat. Broccoli has protein, Spinach has iron and other greens have other vitamins of value if you do not know it. Only after original sin would plants be used for medical treatment. In Eden the world was perfect except for the serpent who was about deceiving the whole world that lived there until he was cast out.

Man was not created not to work not even in the Garden of Eden, for God placed man in the garden to name those animals and to take care of his garden. God did not create man not to tend to things he already had control of. Online one might hear about lion tamers, horse whispers, cat psychology and so forth. God create animals for man to have dominion over them. In other words power over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air and their livestock.

The orders and jobs man was given was for his survival and his well being. To tame and animal meant livestock and food, and to tame animal meant a companion that is different man. Yet animal husbandry would not replace man need for his wife, or his wife for her husband. For God would create from Adam rib a help mate who would be the mother of all living. A mother of the generation to come through conception and child birth. By tending animals man would have learned about pregnancy, birth, and even death. Through animals man learn about their own bodies as they cut them up and placed them on the altar as an offering. Man would have his second career of learning to make coats from fur as God did their first fur coat because of Adam and Eve nakedness.

It is easy to take farming for granted and these early jobs until we fight a pandemic, I say not there always has been conservation going on for decades. Yet maybe it made man more aware of these jobs that keep our grocery store shelves stock and the people that do just that, from the fields, to factories, to the stores. The butcher, the baker and lets not leave the leave the candle stick maker out of it. The people that produce our drinks from, milk, coffee, tea, soda, fruit drinks and so forth. Without these things we might as well bury our technology, because not remaining healthy is not a good thing. Health important and so is food and beverages are important. Clothing is important, unless you are a nudist. Blankets, sheets, towels and things woven from fibers grown and produced in fields and the wild. All these things God created for us to learn, to grow, and to enable us to care for our needs.

If we start with man's first work order, it began with the job that can either starve you in famine, or feed you all winter and the following year or two, if one can store food properly, without a freezer going out or canning jars breaking. When was the first canning jar made who knows, but the first clay pots would of contained dry goods including herbs, that may of been replaced also with leather bags when traveling or gathering. Man even learned a process of turning salt into grain, removing the water from it, and harvesting it as it clumps together. The things man knew to do to animals was to drain the animal blood from it, a process of hanging meat to drain it before butchering still exist and used by hunters and butchers today.

The value of man learn to sacrifice meat for clothing only would change to consumation of meat after the flood. God gave knowledge to man to care for the things he put man in charge of. I do not know a seed in the ground hopefully will produce the same plant it came from unless it is a lab produce seed.

Two times periods before man was cast out of the garden and the jobs that continue after the garden and expanded into scientific careers. If we can grasp the careers of early man, and God's wisdom to teach man to care for his needs, the needs of his family and even neighbors, to protect them from famine, and starvation, man would put more effort and money into conservation then they to computers.

As we continue to look at early man careers, let us not forget the harvest of honey from beehives, eggs from bird nest or the milk from animals. Let us not forget to thank God for these process learn centuries ago, and handed down to you and me. These process still being study and newer process developed that make it safer for man to consume. Let us thank God for the first career choice that taught us to be reliant on our hands, but also on his, who commanded things to grow by his word and to produce life of animals by his modling,for our consumation.

Dear Heavenly Father thank you for giving man responsibility to plant, to till the ground and to harvest crops for our health and well being. Thank you for meat and the herbs gather in captivity and in the wild. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

Continual Scripture Study: Genesis 3:17-20 KJV
17 And unto Adam he said, Because thou hast hearkened unto the voice of thy wife, and hast eaten of the tree, of which I commanded thee, saying, Thou shalt not eat of it: cursed is the ground for thy sake; in sorrow shalt thou eat of it all the days of thy life;
18 Thorns also and thistles shall it bring forth to thee; and thou shalt eat the herb of the field;
19 In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return.
20 And Adam called his wife's name Eve; because she was the mother of all living.

Genesis 4:12 KJV
12 When thou tillest the ground, it shall not henceforth yield unto thee her strength; a fugitive and a vagabond shalt thou be in the earth.

Genesis 5:29 KJV
29 And he called his name Noah, saying, This same shall comfort us concerning our work and toil of our hands, because of the ground which the LORD hath cursed.

Genesis 9:1-4 KJV
1 And God blessed Noah and his sons, and said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth.
2 And the fear of you and the dread of you shall be upon every beast of the earth, and upon every fowl of the air, upon all that moveth upon the earth, and upon all the fishes of the sea; into your hand are they delivered.
3 Every moving thing that liveth shall be meat for you; even as the green herb have I given you all things.
4 But flesh with the life thereof, which is the blood thereof, shall ye not eat.
