Today’s message is concerning God‘s House The temple of God for believer is Jesus Jesus living within their heart. Jesus being the word of God. The Word of God is hidden in the heart of every believer and the outward sign is a holy life. None of us are perfect. We each are imperfect. However God through His word wants to purify our life. Today’s scripture passage is taken from John 2 starting at verse 12 and reading to verse 23. John 2:12-23 KJV (12) After this he went down to Capernaum, he, and his mother, and his brethren, and his disciples: and they continued there not many days. (13) And the Jews' passover was at hand, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem, (14) And found in the temple those that sold oxen and sheep and doves, and the changers of money sitting: (15) And when he had made a scourge of small cords, he drove them all out of the temple, and the sheep, and the oxen; and poured out the changers' money, and overthrew the tables; (16) And said unto them that sold doves, Take these things hence; make not my Father's house an house of merchandise. (17) And his disciples remembered that it was written, The zeal of thine house hath eaten me up. (18) Then answered the Jews and said unto him, What sign shewest thou unto us, seeing that thou doest these things? (19) Jesus answered and said unto them, Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up. (20) Then said the Jews, Forty and six years was this temple in building, and wilt thou rear it up in three days? (21) But he spake of the temple of his body. (22) When therefore he was risen from the dead, his disciples remembered that he had said this unto them; and they believed the scripture, and the word which Jesus had said. (23) Now when he was in Jerusalem at the passover, in the feast day, many believed in his name, when they saw the miracles which he did. This passage is about cleaning of the money changers out of the temple of God. The temple of God had become corrupt by those selling within the house of God. Selling within the temple is much like us spiritually who sell our time, heart, our mind to things that are not pure, or holy unto God. We often house within ourselves the impurity of the world within, however our action need to be holy unto God and demonstrated to the world of our faith in God. The temple of God in this passage had caused Jesus to be so angry He turned the tables in the temple over. This in the spiritual context explains how Jesus desires to cleanse us and turn our sin out of our life if we will allow Him to do so. However it also symbolizes what was fixing to happen to Jesus in a few years. Jesus said “Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.“ Jesus said this to symbolize his death for His body was not only the House of God but God in the flesh. Man would kill his body and in three days rise again. The Temple of God was being destroyed and it was being destroyed by a lack of knowledge of the Word of God. Jesus symbolizing the Word of God would outwardly show the destruction of the Word through His death and resurrection. Yet by the Word coming forth the temple of God was able to be rebuilt. Yes Christ came to die for our sins. Yet it is through the death and burial process of Christ that an our sins die. He represented the sins of the world how it must be destroyed. Then by raising to life how the Word when brought forth rises again in the world. It is a continual process. The Word of God must be taken out in order for it to grow again a new in people’ s life. It is because individuals begin to ignore the word of God, desiring to do what feels good to them and caring little how it effects themselves, those around them or even the world. The word of God is about truth. People exchange the Word of God for lies of the devil. Lies being the very thing that destroys the church. Destroy the world for that matter. Confusion, trouble and chaos of not following God’s laws. Not following society rules. The corruption we see in this world needs to be changed for truth, but it is a slow process, like bread making. Yeast has to be kneaded into the dough and rest to raise to produce a good loaf of bread. Yeast can be like sin. Yeast being kneaded in to the bread only to destroy a loaf that was suppose to be made without yeast. Demonstrating the unpurifying of a believer in God. The process of the Word of God being kneaded into each generation of people. It takes time for God’s word to penetrate the lives and hearts of all mankind, but when the process begins it is instant. It begins with repented man, desiring to live for God, to receive forgiveness of sin and a desire to get rid of sin or the turning away from sin. Do you desire Jesus to purify you? Get into the word of God and ask Jesus to be your Savior. The Word of God being the life giving power of change in the heart and mind of a believer. Allow Jesus to turn your sin out of your life, not only through your turning away, but replacing it with the truth of the Word of God. When one looks to Jesus for salvation, one is looking more then just at the cross but what it represents. To what is establishing truth between all groups of people that are believers in God. Some perhaps grasp this process with out knowing the name Jesus. Yet the guarantee is knowing Jesus. Jesus said no man cometh to the Father, but by me. Have you come to God through His Word. Through the demonstration of His Word dying and coming back to life through the cross. Believe in Jesus, which is the Spirit of prophesy, knowing we are saved by God’s grace for mankind and it not within ourselves to save ourselves, but by the power and the grace given to us by the Holy Spirit living in our hearts coming forth in our actions and deeds. Dear Heavenly Father thank you for the grace you give all mankind through your precious Word being demonstrated for us through your power and spoken to the believer through prophesy. Yet received in our hearts. In Jesus precious name, Amen. |
