Martin Luther King said, “ I have a dream” He dreamed of his people being free. Yet the vision for freedom was first given with President Lincoln, when he freed the slaves. Yet it would take time for a people to realize the freedom they had gain in a land of freedom. Martin Luther King took charge of his dream like all of us must do and declare our freedom to be treated equal. To be treated with equal respect. Freedom is a precious gift, first given to us by God. When he freed us from a yoke of slavery from sin. To be trapped in a world is to feel one does not have the freedom to leave or walk out the door so to speak. To be like a caged animal. To be free is to be able to go where you please, and when you want too, as long as it does not infringe on the rights of others to do the same. It does not mean you do not have responsibility, because with freedom comes responsibility. Slavery is force responsibility. It is forcing someone to do what you are responsible in doing, instead of taking care of it yourself. It not paying or hiring but entrapping a person into doing something you will not do for yourself, but need doing. Making a person feel less then human. Making a person feel worse then animals kept in the barn. Animals are at least feed and cared for with respect in a slave owners home. Freedom is going to be able to get ice cream at the ice cream store and sit on the stool next to everyone else who is there, enjoying your desert with the crowd. Like going to the bar and having a drink with total strangers, that have one thing in common they need a drink. Lord has a drink that is totally free, it even comes with a robe of righteousness by faith. The drink is the drink of everlasting water that the Samaritan woman was looking for in John 4. The garment of faith is something worn by all that believe in Jesus. True freedom comes with such a garment of faith. To have faith in Christ is not to be entangled by a yoke of sin, but to have freedom to make a mistake and know you have been forgiven. To know Christ has covered your sin. If one would weigh their sins along with their good deeds they be found lacking. No amount of good works can save a person. Yet good works is a responsibility of all that are freed by faith in Christ. Yet with the freedom comes responsibility to live a life pleasing to God and when one fails repenting of failure and going on with life to the best of one ability relying on the power of the Holy Spirit to keep one from slipping. It is time for our nation to stop beating up on the issue of race and set a measuring line of equality, even in the work place. If you can not do the job, then you should not be allowed to keep the job you can not do, the promotion should not be given. It does not mean you should loose a job, but loose the responsibility that goes with the job. As a Christian if God calls you to a task He equips you for the job. Life, education, hard work equips you for the job of this world that earns the cash of this world. God can enable you for this type of work as well, but usually these jobs take training, so one has to study and work hard, and often become enslaved to a goaled that brings about income. God job for you brings about blessing in this life, often by seeing the miraculous work of God that is often unseen by the unbeliever. It seeing the grace of God working in the lives of others that are growing in faith, to those that are just beginning a relationship with God. God changing and raising up men and women of faith to lead, to be responsible and to have strength to make changes in our world and to make it better place to live, by demonstrating the love of God. A love that is unconditional, patience, kind, long suffering, gentle, goodness, merciful, just and much much more. This is not all I want to say I want to read a passage of scripture today about the guest that are invited to kingdom of heaven. See all human life despite race, background and so forth are welcome into heaven. There no second class citizen there for we all will be wearing royal robes of faith in Jesus. White robes that are washed in the blood of the lamb. Our robes of royalty, because we are sons and daughter of God and joint heirs with Jesus, who is the Son of God. Though we will never be equal we are the bride and will have responsibility of leading and ruling with Him in heaven. Let us read the parable of the call of the bride of Christ. Matthew 22:1-14 KJV (1) And Jesus answered and spake unto them again by parables, and said, (2) The kingdom of heaven is like unto a certain king, which made a marriage for his son, (3) And sent forth his servants to call them that were bidden to the wedding: and they would not come. (4) Again, he sent forth other servants, saying, Tell them which are bidden, Behold, I have prepared my dinner: my oxen and my fatlings are killed, and all things are ready: come unto the marriage. (5) But they made light of it, and went their ways, one to his farm, another to his merchandise: (6) And the remnant took his servants, and entreated them spitefully, and slew them. (7) But when the king heard thereof, he was wroth: and he sent forth his armies, and destroyed those murderers, and burned up their city. (8) Then saith he to his servants, The wedding is ready, but they which were bidden were not worthy. (9) Go ye therefore into the highways, and as many as ye shall find, bid to the marriage. (10) So those servants went out into the highways, and gathered together all as many as they found, both bad and good: and the wedding was furnished with guests. (11) And when the king came in to see the guests, he saw there a man which had not on a wedding garment: (12) And he saith unto him, Friend, how camest thou in hither not having a wedding garment? And he was speechless. (13) Then said the king to the servants, Bind him hand and foot, and take him away, and cast him into outer darkness; there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth. (14) For many are called, but few are chosen. The king sent his servants, his Son and then His servants again to gather the people for the wedding feast. All are given opportunity, but not all heed the call of faith. Some walking away from the call figuring they are good enough because sally has faith but not living as self righteous as the one walking away. This person is wearing not a wedding garment, but Sally is a believer and is wearing a white robe of righteous by faith. God is doing a work in sally’s life because she has faith in Jesus. The person that self righteous is doing good works but is only changing by the power of her own hand into the imagine she thinks is just. The person self righteous dies and sneaks uninvited into heaven and is sitting down thinking the wedding feast looks delicious and God comes over and says were your wedding gown. I require one thing you got to believe I and my Son are real by faith. And so this meal is not real to you either, and with that cast the self righteous person into utter darkness. Sally sitting at the table says Lord thank you she been a thorn in my side for years. The point is this God grace for believers is great. He understands we not perfect, for He created us in his image, but not equal to him. Not as perfect as Him. Our perfection is based on faith. God sees our imperfection and says believe my word. Adam did not believe and got kicked out of paradise. Eve did not believe and got kicked out of paradise. Devil believe and tremble. The serpent deceived and did not believe and was cast to the earth below. If your parents tells you not to steal and you steal you are cast into jail. A place one does not want to be in unless it cold outside. The point being one did not believe the one that wanted to protect you from making a mistake. God does not desire us to sin and even warns us but unless we believe and obey we are going to fall in the pit called hell. Basically that what about the first rule of faith is to believe in Jesus. To believe Jesus is the word of God that became flesh and dwelt among us. To believe that Jesus is the Messiah, God salvation plan. When we fail to believe what God speaks but have the blood covering of Christ, Christ blood covers the sin of unbelief. Yet it does not give us license to not obey God. Even the devil believes and trembles. Balaam a false prophet had to speak the words God told him too. Story is found in Numbers 22. Not out of his own free will, but because of the power of God gave the words for Balaam to speak. God can use the devil to speak truth. God can use the evil spirits that volunteer to speak a lie, like in the story of lying spirit speaking to the prophets of Ahab to speak a lie this is found in I Kings 22. God in control and has given certain power to the enemy, even in the form of deception. However there is coming a day when evil will have no power. Without God the evil one is powerless to prevent the punishment of flames of the eternal pit of everlasting flames of fire. His reward for disobedience. God allows but God also gives a just reward. The wedding garment by faith, you do not come when he calls then you are refusing God. Your not refusing the servants of God who warn you, you are called by God’s Spirit to come. Devil not wearing a wedding garment of faith in God’s salvation plan. He is wearing a garment of dead works, because they were done not of a conscious will of obedience but the power of God commanding his will be fulfilled. Blessing come with faith in Jesus. The freedom we gain with Christ is our sin is no longer counted against us. We are free upon belief. Martin Luther King freedom march pointed the way to a life of freedom from bigotry and hate. Hate being one of the most evil acts of man. Hatred of sin is not wrong, but hatred because of race, or nationality is wrong. Since the war began how many Arab jokes have been passed around, some better then others. Yet the point is anything done in hate to be little human life is wrong. To fight for freedom from an oppressor is a fight worth fighting for. To fight the oppressor named Satan is worth fighting against. The way the battle is won is receiving Jesus as Lord. It is your choice today to decide are you going to fight against the oppressor and take a stand in faith in Jesus by believing. John 3:16 KJV (16) For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. God is no respecter of person for anyone that call upon the name of Jesus will be saved. That is a promise of God. Do you want to receive that promise today. If so pray this prayer with me. Dear Heavenly Father I ask you to forgive me of all my sins. I thank you for your salvation plan of belief in Jesus. I believe Jesus has buried my sins through his death and I have risen with Christ through His resurrection. I receive the gift of salvation as well as the comforter known as the Holy Spirit into my heart who seals me when I believe in Jesus as a child of God. In Jesus precious name, Amen. If you prayed this prayer with me you are now a child of God saved by the grace of God found through belief in Jesus. Welcome to the family of God.
