Daily Devotions for Sunday: by Christina Farris 5/8/2016

Psalms 85:1-13 KJV
(1) To the chief Musician, A Psalm for the sons of Korah. LORD, thou hast been favourable unto thy land: thou hast brought back the captivity of Jacob.
(2) Thou hast forgiven the iniquity of thy people, thou hast covered all their sin. Selah.
(3) Thou hast taken away all thy wrath: thou hast turned thyself from the fierceness of thine anger.
(4) Turn us, O God of our salvation, and cause thine anger toward us to cease.
(5) Wilt thou be angry with us for ever? wilt thou draw out thine anger to all generations?
(6) Wilt thou not revive us again: that thy people may rejoice in thee?
(7) Shew us thy mercy, O LORD, and grant us thy salvation.
(8) I will hear what God the LORD will speak: for he will speak peace unto his people, and to his saints: but let them not turn again to folly.
(9) Surely his salvation is nigh them that fear him; that glory may dwell in our land.
(10) Mercy and truth are met together; righteousness and peace have kissed each other.
(11) Truth shall spring out of the earth; and righteousness shall look down from heaven.
(12) Yea, the LORD shall give that which is good; and our land shall yield her increase.
(13) Righteousness shall go before him; and shall set us in the way of his steps.

This morning is Mother’s day May 2016. This is message is not a mother’s day message persay, but a message of how God calls his people back to himself. People’s desire to know and trust God is far greater then the doors of any religious institution. It is further then a call back to Jerusalem of the Jewish people. The goodness of God is forever etch in the human mind once one experiences and understands the difference between who God is and his love for man and the humanity’s institution of faith..

If a person experiences a bad church situation one is going to not desire to know God or at least the church world. Some people would like to say that just the devil keeping one away from the church world or the sanctuary of grace. Devil can not reign forever in God’s house. God house is dedicated and holy unto him. Right now many people watching Israel being both under Islamic and Jewish law with in it religious system.

If I had lived at the time of Eli and Samuel if I only knew the ways of Eli’s sons, I would not want to go back into the temple. It is the religious abuse that allows God to send his Jesus and his messengers outside the temple doors, to call his people unto himself. Sooner or later people being shepherd by God’s chosen leaders will find themselves wanted to unite and unify with others like themselves. God’s mercy, love and forgiveness is enough to draw one to God, but it is God’s salvation and grace that keeps one in a relationship with him. Samuel a prophet was not a keeper of the temple or sanctuary of God. He was minister to all that listen in and outside the temple. Samuel was trained within the walls of God’s house, but his ministry was far reaching outside the temple doors. Jesus taught within the temple but also outside in the highways and by ways of life. God ministry is not just at home in Jerusalem but abroad going beyond our comprehension. When God sent Jesus, he demonstrate his love of going beyond the temple to the people outside the door.

God’s mercy and grace is not based on the law of man but on his love. A mother’s love is not based on a child’s sense of right and wrong, but unconditional love that encourage and allow a child to grow and learn in their environment both inside and outside the home. Though God‘s call is homeward to the promise land, it is a theme in scripture, that is really about a call to heavens gate, not before the page of life to death is turned, but a call to remind us of better things are yet to come upon crossing Jordan‘s river. A child knows there no place like home and the warm embrace of mother‘s arms if mother is a loving person. Mother‘s arms are those that surround you as a child as you listen to a story in a book. Sitting in the comfort of her lap. . God’s visions of home of eternity is that call to a society not fully obtained in this world. Neither can this world attain the perfect unity of grace and acceptance.

God cast Adam and Eve out so they know the cost of disobedience to him. Yet did God ever call Adam and Eve home, scripture never said. The cost of sin fell to their offspring as well as God’s salvation plan to redeem mankind through the offspring of man. This call to God is individual. It is a call to worship Him, to listen and follow his ways whether in exile or home with Him. Salvation plan of God revealed in his Son Jesus, in a way the world would know even generation later of his love for them.

The Human race only knows the time of exile from God until God began to redeem his people through his grace and acts of forgiveness. As the president release more prisoners one has to ask is this act of mercy seen as grace in those prisoners, or a sense of freedom to only go and repeat a crime? Mother’s give time outs and groundings to their children in hopes to teach their children obedience to right ways of living. Never knowing for sure if children will follow there instructions as adult.

Some people obey God without knowing God, hoping if there is a God He might show mercy. Israel knew God and were consider a chosen people to be a testimony to the world of God’s grace to mankind. Yet their testimony is not complete without God’s chastisement for sin. All the blessings of God is about truth, faith, hope, and better things offered by obeying God. It has little to do with obedience to man’s laws and ways.

Faith in Jesus is more then just a call to church building but a call to a way of living. With every sin one knows the call to live like Jesus if one has received Jesus as Lord. Jesus walked the earth as example how to live in the ways of God. There are people that will never enter the human building of faith, but will embrace faith in Jesus because of his mercy and grace. Hagar outside the community of Abraham, found herself embracing God’s protection by his provision of water. God never abandon anyone that would put their trust in Him. God did however abandons those who know of his mercy and refuse to believe.

God calls people like Rahab to join his people because of belief and desire to follow Him. He calls people of other tribes and nations to know Him because of His mercy and grace. The journey back to God is only like the prodigal son who grasp that home is better. To understand God’s way, truth, forgiveness and love is far greater then the world’s grace, only can come with accepting who God is. Come to the cross and lay your burdens of this world down cries the preacher, God’s mercy and grace is for all that repent and obey. God did not abandon his Son only took His Spirit from the human body, to be able to set the captives free. God want us to release you from sin, not from life until it is your time. When you receive his word has truth and choose to follow in Christ footsteps, Your choosing to follow the example God set before us, because every man failed before Jesus. Jesus is the only one pure that could lay his life for us. God chosen and God salvation plan to bring us home to Him one day.

Dear Heavenly Father your door of grace is wide upon faith in your Son, give us the hope of your promise of salvation in our heart. May the cloudy days only remind us of your call homeward and the reports in Jerusalem of how soon your coming is drawing near. In Jeus precious name, Amen.

Happy Mother‘s Day to all you mom‘s and mom like people that try hard to teach the ways of Christ love to your children because of His grace for you. May you be blessed.

Daily Bible Verses: 1 Samuel 2:22-25 KJV
(22) Now Eli was very old, and heard all that his sons did unto all Israel; and how they lay with the women that assembled at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation.
(23) And he said unto them, Why do ye such things? for I hear of your evil dealings by all this people.
(24) Nay, my sons; for it is no good report that I hear: ye make the LORD’S people to transgress.
(25) If one man sin against another, the judge shall judge him: but if a man sin against the LORD, who shall intreat for him? Notwithstanding they hearkened not unto the voice of their father, because the LORD would slay them.

(17) And came and preached peace to you which were afar off, and to them that were nigh.

(19) Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellowcitizens with the saints, and of the household of God;

Every Sunday A Psalm has been going on for over 34 weeks. I gotten to Psalms 34 and said Lord help me it is Mother’s Day. Traditional a passage about Mother’s or women is used, but today Psalms 34. As a child I knew when I played outside whether it was on the swing set or monkey bars, mom was in ear shot. My mother always coming to my aid if I screamed. I was afraid to drop from the monkey bars, it seemed so high up. As my mother came out to see what I gotten myself into, she knew I be okay if I just let go. Yet she come anyway and help me drop down, and warn me not to do it again. The drop was about five feet and I was about four or five. I was a monkey on the monkey bars. My mother taught me to ride a bike, taught me to play all sorts of games, and taught me how to laugh and cry. She taught me how to read books, taught me basic math and taught me how to crochet. Anything I wanted to learn about she was my teacher. Even when I played quietly outside or in the house my mother was always in ear shot. My family moved and my mother had to go to work and it became my father job while he was going back to school to teach me to skate and to keep track of me which was near impossible. Father’s ears were good, but not that extinct mother’s have over their children. Yet both parents are watchful of their children, so much so that when it is time to cut the apron strings as they leave the nest it is often hard.

God though He sees and hears everything, he has his angels watching over us. I wonder why God needs angels to watch, then I am reminded of God’s mercy and wrath. Perhaps angels are just a tad more lenient at times, then God. Not that God mercy is not sufficient, but God’s perfection makes it hard to watch our mistakes. It like watching someone else play a video game, it better not to watch because if you are really good at it, instinct makes one wants to tell another player how to play. In truth that move just might not be the right move for the one playing. Life is like that. God puts angels in charge for a purpose to protect and keep our feet from slipping and falling. Yet when one goes astray for a time, one must wonder did those angels take a lunch break, or just give us room to grow. Sometimes one has to scrape or bust a knee to know how bad it hurts.

If I think how many times I wreck my bike, only to have mom stitch me up, I can honestly say without the wrecks I may never learn to ride my bike. God’s instructions comes from His word. God teaches us and watches over us. In the middle of the night if I had a bad dream my mother was there. If I feared the dark my mother would say pray. As both my mother and father taught me about God, they did not teach me to be fearful of God. Though as an adult that idea of fearing God is like a new revelation. Fearful of God’s mighty hand when one done wrong is different then looking for God’s loving hand in the middle of a storm. To hear of one trembling in prayer is like asking where is God’s grace that you feel the need to be fearful. Yet one needs to be fearful of that one that can cast you into the fiery pit, because you did not believe His warnings or His gift of love, by sending His Son has payment for sin. To fear God is to understand His authority in one’s life and power in the world. That protection is only there when we realize our inability to save ourselves and our fear of God wrath and judgment enables to fall on our knees, before God knowing what one deserves and what God truly dishes out to us is love. God’s mercy to all that fear him.

I feared my mother at times when I did something wrong, knowing the consequences for my actions were coming. Our action of unbelief will come if we do not fear God. One’s fear of God perhaps keeps one from being more evil then they could be. Fear of my mother keep me in check growing up. Mother’s watchful eye kept me from doing many things I knew were wrong. Yet does my Heavenly Father that has the ability to take my life have the same effect. It is better to fear God then momma. Yet momma was probably right to begin with. Yet momma taught the fear of God has far as always that watchful eye. Teaching what God’s watchful eye was like, so we know the difference of God’s watchful eye and the devil. The devil only wanting bad things to happen to you and God’s watchful eyes is about protection.

God can keep your feet from slipping, keep you in check if one will only trust in the God and His Son. Angels can not save you they are just watching and take direction from God. Angels that guard you are under God’s instruction. Trust in God today to save your first from you sins, and then from oneself from doing evil in this world. It does not stop someone else from doing evil, but keeps your own feet from slipping.

Dear Heavenly Father thank you for our Mother’s who teach us of your mercy and grace. Teach’s us what is to fear God by fearing their correction. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

Daily Bible Verses:Matthew 10:28 KJV
(28) And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.

Matthew 1:18-25 KJV
(18) Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost.
(19) Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not willing to make her a publick example, was minded to put her away privily.
(20) But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost.
(21) And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.
(22) Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying,
(23) Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.
(24) Then Joseph being raised from sleep did as the angel of the Lord had bidden him, and took unto him his wife:
(25) And knew her not till she had brought forth her firstborn son: and he called his name JESUS.

Is chivalry dead to the point that men no longer defend their wives, who are the mother of their children. God created man first not because women would not be equally or more equally strong then men, but because there has to be first. Yet God’s instruction to Adam was that Eve was to be his helpmate. A helpmate a person to share the burden in life. Joseph a man chosen by God to be a helpmate for Eve. A helpmate because she would need a protector as well a provider for her first born son. A son not by natural means, but by the Holy Spirit. God’s provision is not always manna from heaven, but able body person who will shelter the women in his embrace. Joseph had already decided he would protect Mary, but had not chosen to defend her until God instructed him to do so. Joseph was fair man that he would just have Mary put away quietly instead of in a public arena. Joseph had enough respect for Mary that he wanted no harm to come to her, despite who the father might be. God spoke to Joseph about Mary His betroth/engaged.

God had not covet another man’s wife, nor had God sinned, for it was by His word Mary conceived a son by unnatural means. Women if you are conceiving unnatural means can it then be sin. God did not think so thousand of years ago. Yet God never attend you to have to go through pregnancy alone. Many women have had to go through pregnancy alone, because of a loss of a husband, rape, or choice of pregnancy outside marriage by unnatural conception. God desires to be your protector, and yet in this process he gave woman a husband, chosen prior to her even be created. Eve never had a choice in her protector, yet when she tricked her spouse, how much help was she really.

God’s protection is best, but society dedicated that Mary be put to death if she was found to be adulteress, or a fornicator. God’s intervention protected Mary. God’s preplan protected Mary. God’s protection is all some mother’s have and yet God has the ability to put people around to help a mother. To help provide for her needs even in pregnancy. Mary would need Joseph in Jewish society, yet she would be free to work. To sell her creations in the market square and exchange and barter her wares. Yet it was a male dominate society. An she would need a protector of her life, for not all would believe the story of the Holy Ghost.

God protectors women, if they are his children. Mary was devout woman of faith, she was favored by God. To be favor is to have faith. You can not be favored by God without faith. Sarah, Hannah, and Samson’s mother all favored by God to have a child, despite their baroness. Yet all were by conception and God opening up their womb. Sarah lacked faith, but she would conceive as a testimony all things are possible. Samson mother would know she was blessed by the Lord. Hannah new God loved her and redeemer her from her humiliation. Yet Mary humiliation was caused by God, that is why God gave Mary a protector, so she would be protected from society.

If a woman is married she has little fear of talk from the world, yet if she is unmarried the world sees the woman in a very different light, even in today’s society. Even if society except woman condition of being unmarried, there always someone that abuses an unwed mother. I do not doubt that women who loose their husbands due to war, accident, or illness, have to deal with abuse of society occasionally because of their ignorance and intolerance of women that might be called a tramp, harlot, jezebel, hussy, hooker and a few more names. It matters not if the woman cares for her children and works everyday, people tend to chastise people that are different then their way of thinking.

Yet God has a way of protecting his own, and even sometimes allowing them to go through humiliation for a purpose. After all Elizabeth had to deal with opposition until she conceived and had the forerunner of Christ, John the Baptist. Rehab was harlot but a protector of Israel. God has the ability to cover the sin of the transgressor. The woman caught in adultery found no accusers and Jesus told her to go and sin no more.

Sin is never justified, but sin to one might not be sin to another. Until they realize it was not God’s intent to leave his children unprotected. Protection always came by faith even from before the time of Abraham. Eve was not protected from the consequences of sin because she did not believe God. God’s protection would be demonstrated through the birth of a Savior Jesus Christ, because those who would look to Jesus and believe would be saved. God’s provision was by faith in His Word, The Word that became flesh and dwelt among man fulfilling the promise of God that would protect all mankind from their sin.

Dear Heavenly Father thank you for providing a protector and forgiver of sin if we will believe in Jesus. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

Daily Bible Verses: Ephesians 6:16 KJV
(16) Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.

Daily God’s Promises: Hebrews 11:31 KJV
(31) By faith the harlot Rahab perished not with them that believed not, when she had received the spies with peace.
