Every Sunday A Psalms: God’s Mercy

Daily Devotions For Sunday: by Christina Farris 3/26/2017

Psalms 130:1-8 KJV
(1) A Song of degrees. Out of the depths have I cried unto thee, O LORD.
(2) Lord, hear my voice: let thine ears be attentive to the voice of my supplications.
(3) If thou, LORD, shouldest mark iniquities, O Lord, who shall stand?
(4) But there is forgiveness with thee, that thou mayest be feared.
(5) I wait for the LORD, my soul doth wait, and in his word do I hope.
(6) My soul waiteth for the Lord more than they that watch for the morning: I say, more than they that watch for the morning.
(7) Let Israel hope in the LORD: for with the LORD there is mercy, and with him is plenteous redemption.
(8) And he shall redeem Israel from all his iniquities.

I fall to my knees thinking on God’s mercy. No one could stand before God without His mercy. Many have gone into sanctuaries not in fear of the Living God only to find themselves prostrated before the Altar of God. Others have gone in no fear and no understanding of falling under the anointing of God. Despite a minister or calling God can knock you down. God needs no messenger to demonstrate his power to you. Elijah stood in the cover of a cave as tornado, wind and rain was outside passing by. God was in neither of those things, but God’s still voice spoke to Elijah. What was more fearful the storm or God speaking to Elijah. When God spoke to the people after the ten commandments were read, the people were afraid. Exodus 20.

If God’s speak are you fear? Only reason for that fear is reverence, or knowing that one has sinned and judgment keeper is present. Jonathan Edwards preached about being in the presence of Angry God. One of the greatest revival that spread across our land occurred during his day. Billy Graham an evangelist came preaching God’s word. Not even knowing everything in scripture as He began to preach. People by the thousands would come to the altar for salvation or just to shake the hand of Billy Graham, but even he was no great man in his eyes, it was the Lord that brought revival to the heart of man.

Our most greatest mistake is to think it man that brings revival, it must come from God, for God must convince the heart of His reality and the need of fear of Him. If God speaks to a person there is reason to fear. One God’s judgment, God’s mercy and your fear of God in the form of reverence for him, and three God’s grace standing in his presence understanding his mercy because of sin dividing one from being able to stand in his presence without the covering of His Son’s blood.

Knowing the power of God to forgive and his mercy shown to His children of obedience, knowing they will continue to sin from time to time, is more mercy then any of us deserve. How Marvelous and How wonderful a Christian hymn says “I stand amazed at His presences.” We can not stand before God without being amazed at his mercy for we all have sin and fallen short of His glory.

Israel is not exempt from God’s mercy, the church is not exempt from God’s mercy. Two groups of people are not exempt from God’s mercy. Two groups of people on their knees before God. It took the act of God’s redemption for people to understand his mercy. God brings his people home, it is and act of mercy. For sin had caused their exile, and God’s grace brings them home. Brings them home to learn about him, and his grace for them that will believe.

As I watched on social media that other day a 98 year old performing dance, my thought of how limber she was even after all those years. She been dancing since age six. An as I watched the video it told of her life and all she seen. What caught my attention was her endurance despite the things she had probably seen. Her life not always full of blessing and peace. Yet she was still dancing. When God works in our life he brings a dance to our steps and the ability to sing despite hardship. This video did not imply she had faith, but what I do know about life is believers faith is like this woman danced through the years that had come and gone. Faith continue because it is a part of one’s life, part of one’s ritual. Yet faith is more then ritual but a communication with the one that will govern one’s soul through out eternity. The serenity of peace that flowed with those thought spoke of a merciful God and in his presence I will stand and walk with my Savior and my God. I may fall in humbleness at His presence and fear because of sin, but God will lift me up and remind me my sins were covered by my Savior death and resurrection. No longer of fear of trembling but a fear of reverence to be in the presence of awesome God.

Let God knock you down and raise you to walk with Him. It is your sin that keeps you away from God let him show you, so you can ask for forgiveness and turn from it. It is your choice today humbly allow God to heal you through forgiveness.

Dear Heavenly Father thank you for your mercy through your Son. Please forgive me of all my sins as I receive your Savior today as your grace in my life. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

Continual Scripture Study For Devotions: Colossians 1:12-14 KJV
(12) Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light:
(13) Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son:
(14) In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins:

Created Old

Daily Devotions for Friday: by Christina Farris 4/22/2016

2 Peter 3:1-18 KJV
(1) This second epistle, beloved, I now write unto you; in both which I stir up your pure minds by way of remembrance:
(2) That ye may be mindful of the words which were spoken before by the holy prophets, and of the commandment of us the apostles of the Lord and Saviour:
(3) Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts,
(4) And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation.
(5) For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water:
(6) Whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished:
(7) But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men.
(8) But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.
(9) The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
(10) But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.
(11) Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness,
(12) Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat?
(13) Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness.
(14) Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be diligent that ye may be found of him in peace, without spot, and blameless.
(15) And account that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation; even as our beloved brother Paul also according to the wisdom given unto him hath written unto you;
(16) As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction.
(17) Ye therefore, beloved, seeing ye know these things before, beware lest ye also, being led away with the error of the wicked, fall from your own stedfastness.
(18) But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen.

The earth was created old. Is it the old saying which came first the chicken or the egg? In this case the earth was created old. When one reads Genesis one has to take in to consider God is speaking of planet earth in the first two to three sentence and that water covered the planet. Dry land itself was created. Dry land meaning the earth surface, which is a substance that can be walked upon. The earth when formed it was created for habitation. It was created for life. Yet something that is clear in scripture is earth is destroyed by fire and it a new heaven and earth comes to be. Yet the global earth is not destroyed. The concept planet earth and earth in the since of dry land must be understood. The word earth is used in several place and talked about as melting with a fervent heat of fire. It seems Bible believers are only looking for a time that destruction comes so that heaven and earth can become new again. Yet the concept of destruction and a promise that the believer will not be destroyed but raised up for such event seems monumental experience to hope for.

What can we do mean time to keep our planet protected from destruction from human error. One can fight pollution both environmentally and spiritually. Easiest way to fight pollution is to plant a tree, green shrub, plants, and flowers. It is not hard to take a pot and plant something. It is after all God’s natural filtering processes. If we use more natural fossil fuel with adding plant life back into our environment then the world has the ability to heal itself through natural means. More ways humans find natural ways to heal the earth the more our environment will heal. Yet spiritually humans cannot heal the world spiritually. Humans cannot create a salvation plan in regards to creating a way off the planet when Christ returns. One can only receive God’s redemption plan for man. As man continue to search for ways to build better space crafts to carry man out into space for preservation of life if man ever destroys itself completely. A better life is beyond the earth surface by man’s creation. Does man hope to stand on the other side of God’s Son on the day of his turn to watch the reaping process of God from outerspace?

The earth was formed old and to be inhabited by man. After the flood Noah found vegetation growing by a dove sent out from the ark in search for dry land. A little Island called Mount Ararat existed which was really a huge mountaintop. Yet when earth was created at the time before Adam and Eve it never was any earth surface. How dirt is reproduced is seen with decaying process of plant and animal life. The changing of gas into solids and the changing of solids into liquid and gas can form dust of the earth. Yet the earth was created old. It was the chicken before the egg story. Destruction comes from the planet also life springs forth from the planet. Salvation came from the word of God and always has, from the time of creation. Our idea of salvation being in human form is God given. God gave away through belief in human form, knowing man would listen to man and evidence must come through man as well as the earth.

If man can accept God’s plan of salvation through belief and obedience to him, when Christ calls his church to come, they will enter the sky above, not by plane but the spiritual forces of God. The belief of destruction must be as real as the need for salvation in a believer or one will fall spiritual asleep. Yet one can live on thinking of being destroyed but having a new life through Christ Jesus by trusting in God’s word that salvation is for you and me. That eternity is for us to have and our spaceship is our human and spiritual body going upward toward God to physically meet Jesus on the Day of Judgment.

I like to say speaking about Earth day is all about life and fresh air but it is not scripturally, it is about preparing the human spirit for departure of the earth that will be destroyed with fervent heat. Yet our job has humans is to take care of our planet until God judgment comes. Let us take hold of taking caring of our spiritual needs first and then our planet. For healing of our planet comes with obeying God’s first command to man to subdue earth.

Dear Heavenly Father has each of person choose to believe first in your word and your salvation plan through belief in Christ Jesus, also renew the command to care for your world. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

Daily Bible Verses: Genesis 1:28 KJV
(28) And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.

Daily God’s Promises: 1 Thessalonians 4:15-17 KJV
(15) For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.
(16) For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:
(17) Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.

Learning To Obey In The Drought

Daily Devotions for Thursday: by Christina Farris 4/21/2016

1 Kings 17:1-16 KJV
(1) And Elijah the Tishbite, who was of the inhabitants of Gilead, said unto Ahab, As the LORD God of Israel liveth, before whom I stand, there shall not be dew nor rain these years, but according to my word.
(2) And the word of the LORD came unto him, saying,
(3) Get thee hence, and turn thee eastward, and hide thyself by the brook Cherith, that is before Jordan.
(4) And it shall be, that thou shalt drink of the brook; and I have commanded the ravens to feed thee there.
(5) So he went and did according unto the word of the LORD: for he went and dwelt by the brook Cherith, that is before Jordan.
(6) And the ravens brought him bread and flesh in the morning, and bread and flesh in the evening; and he drank of the brook.
(7) And it came to pass after a while, that the brook dried up, because there had been no rain in the land.
(8) And the word of the LORD came unto him, saying,
(9) Arise, get thee to Zarephath, which belongeth to Zidon, and dwell there: behold, I have commanded a widow woman there to sustain thee.
(10) So he arose and went to Zarephath. And when he came to the gate of the city, behold, the widow woman was there gathering of sticks: and he called to her, and said, Fetch me, I pray thee, a little water in a vessel, that I may drink.
(11) And as she was going to fetch it, he called to her, and said, Bring me, I pray thee, a morsel of bread in thine hand.
(12) And she said, As the LORD thy God liveth, I have not a cake, but an handful of meal in a barrel, and a little oil in a cruse: and, behold, I am gathering two sticks, that I may go in and dress it for me and my son, that we may eat it, and die.
(13) And Elijah said unto her, Fear not; go and do as thou hast said: but make me thereof a little cake first, and bring it unto me, and after make for thee and for thy son.
(14) For thus saith the LORD God of Israel, The barrel of meal shall not waste, neither shall the cruse of oil fail, until the day that the LORD sendeth rain upon the earth.
(15) And she went and did according to the saying of Elijah: and she, and he, and her house, did eat many days.
(16) And the barrel of meal wasted not, neither did the cruse of oil fail, according to the word of the LORD, which he spake by Elijah.

God’s control over storms such as winds, rain, and fire then over drought. The droughts that plagued our own land as well as around the world in this century have killed thousands of people. People can only live without water so long and without food. Where there is drought there is absence of natural food source, for even animals search for water. Yet God’s promise provision in a drought means someone else may suffer but you will not if you obey. Ahab was faced with living through a drought, but God promised Elijah food and water during those three years. If God promises provision then you have to take him at his word, because in truth there are no other choices except to deny and disobey God. God sent Elijah into a place of protection from the king. A place where water was and food provision provide by God’s creature, a raven. The raven brought food to Elijah and there was water to always drink until the day the little brook dried up. Yet God’s provision came with obedience by going to a little town where a widow woman was fixing to eat her last meal. God provided for Elijah, the widow and the boy. Had the widow been petitioning God; the Bible does not say concerning the widow request to God in prayer, but we know God provide for three needing food until the drought was over.

God’s people need more faith. God’s people need faith of Elijah. I know my own struggle of looking at a bare cabinet from time to time and being weighed down with bills pressing upon me. Yet God’s provision might not be like one wants. I cannot help but wonder about Elijah being feed by a raven. What was his natural reaction to the meat from the bird of prey? Did the thought of Elijah ever come is this bird trying to fatten me up only to be his next meal? Leaving all humor aside, Elijah obedience kept him feed not necessarily with his favorite foods for what does a raven eat but squirrels, rabbits, mice and other small prey. Faith means not always getting your way, but learning to obey God and knowing his provision is for us.

I do not want to think of New Yorkers eating rat burgers, but stories I have heard of rat population the option of rat burgers is there. Yet I doubt if I would not be told that it be unsafe and unhealthy to eat the rats because of diseases. What might look like provision might not be and what actually is might not always be appealing. Manna in the wilderness did get tiring but it was food. I was thinking the other day it been awhile since I had eaten gravy, actually several months. It is a meal if one adds some biscuits in a time of little groceries. It will actually stretch the budget. It provides a little iron from the meat used in it and a half a pound of meat can stretch into several meals for two people, where normally cooked it might be only be one meal. It is those lean times that one appreciates the days of buying stuff to make lasagna, and other meals that are tastier to one’s palettes. Some would declare it economic common sense and others know God provision in a meal of little taste after awhile. Yet I can happily say I never been desperate enough o eat rat burger, but I might if I had too.

What makes Elijah story about faith and not normal survival skills is the raven that feed him? The woman in the village was there that God spoke to him about. Faith in God is about going and obeying only information God provides you with. Disciples learn about obedience when finding the colt for the triumphal entry into Jerusalem. Disciples found the colt exactly as Jesus had declared they would under his direction. Yet Jesus was human flesh, being able to believe would take a little bit more proof without being there. Elijah story is more believable because it was the Spirit of God that spoke to him and he found it has God Spirit said. No way for him to know provision would be provided when he got to the destination except he knew the voice of God. Something without experiencing them first hand it harder to believe, maybe more so in this day and age with so many false prophets and teachers that plague our land.

Believers, it does takes faith to believe in God’s provision. I sometimes even wonder if I have enough faith. See I know God’s mercy and provision in my own life, even when not fully in God’s will for my life. Faith begins as little as mustard seed planted in fertile soil. The word of God brings forth life through His Son. Faith begins with learning to trust God and his Word. I doubt if Elijah faith began with his food provision, but at some point in his life and career Elijah learn obedience to God. New believer might not be a full trust mode in God, but they will get there. The lack of water is not the trouble; it is the lack of action. One had to grab hold of God in humble obedience.

Dear Heavenly Father help us to grab hold in humble obedience. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

Daily Bible Verses: James 2:17 KJV
(17) Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.

Daily God’s Promises: Romans 4:2-3 KJV
(2) For if Abraham were justified by works, he hath whereof to glory; but not before God.
(3) For what saith the scripture? Abraham believed God, and it was counted unto him for righteousness.

After Destruction

Daily Devotions for Wednesday: by Christina Farris 4/20/2016

Genesis 9:1-18 KJV
(1) And God blessed Noah and his sons, and said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth.
(2) And the fear of you and the dread of you shall be upon every beast of the earth, and upon every fowl of the air, upon all that moveth upon the earth, and upon all the fishes of the sea; into your hand are they delivered.
(3) Every moving thing that liveth shall be meat for you; even as the green herb have I given you all things.
(4) But flesh with the life thereof, which is the blood thereof, shall ye not eat.
(5) And surely your blood of your lives will I require; at the hand of every beast will I require it, and at the hand of man; at the hand of every man’s brother will I require the life of man.
(6) Whoso sheddeth man’s blood, by man shall his blood be shed: for in the image of God made he man.
(7) And you, be ye fruitful, and multiply; bring forth abundantly in the earth, and multiply therein.
(8) And God spake unto Noah, and to his sons with him, saying,
(9) And I, behold, I establish my covenant with you, and with your seed after you;
(10) And with every living creature that is with you, of the fowl, of the cattle, and of every beast of the earth with you; from all that go out of the ark, to every beast of the earth.
(11) And I will establish my covenant with you; neither shall all flesh be cut off any more by the waters of a flood; neither shall there any more be a flood to destroy the earth.
(12) And God said, This is the token of the covenant which I make between me and you and every living creature that is with you, for perpetual generations:
(13) I do set my bow in the cloud, and it shall be for a token of a covenant between me and the earth.
(14) And it shall come to pass, when I bring a cloud over the earth, that the bow shall be seen in the cloud:
(15) And I will remember my covenant, which is between me and you and every living creature of all flesh; and the waters shall no more become a flood to destroy all flesh.
(16) And the bow shall be in the cloud; and I will look upon it, that I may remember the everlasting covenant between God and every living creature of all flesh that is upon the earth.
(17) And God said unto Noah, This is the token of the covenant, which I have established between me and all flesh that is upon the earth.
(18) And the sons of Noah, that went forth of the ark, were Shem, and Ham, and Japheth: and Ham is the father of Canaan.

I just erased all I wrote down this morning to begin again on this passage. I am so sick of speaking about destruction that I had to think again about what I was writing. It easier to think about prosperous times then times of hardship or destruction. The other day I had seen where in Houston a lady being optimistic about her situation though she did not have flood insurance. All I could think she said she had no flood insurance, and probably not enough help from the government; she will have to begin a new life for herself. Yet she was still optimistic of her situation. Optimistic because even though she lost everything she found people worse off then her. She was able to see the plight of her situation of being able to recover, while others had either died or were dying. It is the human spirit that says I will overcome. It is God’s Spirit that speaks to man how they will overcome.

God told Noah to replenish the earth. To replenish is to fill in the Hebrew language, the original language of the Old Testament in the Bible. To multiply was to increase family the size, as well as crops. Time of production after the storm reminds one of the days of Noah. Not one flood victim today can rationalize the safety of the ark, only the boat coming to get them or hope of making it to shore. I never heard of anyone building ark of safety to protect from rain since the time of Noah. No man made ship has been completely weather a storm like the ark did.

Ark was specially designed by God and God’s hand was upon it and the people within the ark. The people came out of the ark of safety. An ark that weather the storm, and the ark that God had sealed the door for protection. God protection in the middle of the storm is when the world would like to destroy your ark because God has sealed your ark till the day of coming out of the ark. On the day of coming out of the ark for Noah was a time to listen to God once more and to follow God’s instructions. God told Noah and his family to reproduce, and to fill the earth. Man has been doing the refilling processes for thousands of years now. Yet destruction still comes and man rebuilds. The one time my family went through a flood, we lost some things in the basement, but not anything that could not be replaced. Noah lost everything he came to know and love about the world before the flood. God told him to replenish. He made it clear that animals were good for food and so were the plants. He had natural substance God gave every man. No reason man has to starve, unless the ability to capture or pick the food to eat. One was told not to eat the blood of the meat though, and I think of people that love their steak rare and said did you know scripture says this, and some would say yeah and that Old Testament. Yet it was faith at its purest form of obedience to God.

Reproducing and caring for God’s creatures are part of life. The need to plant and grow fruit and vegetables is a much need necessity even in culture today. Food is not replaceable by any other source. All food comes from plant and animals. Our world is needs plant life especially in our city because of carbon emissions. The solution is for everyone plant a plant and watch it grow. Build a garden on the roofs of cities, and in alleyways. Make life vital again, for destruction comes because of some changes in our environment. Most of those changes today are not God made but man made because of pollution. Grow a tree and plant a pot of life flowing fruits or vegetables. Grow a flower and enjoy the beauty of it. God plan is to replenish the earth with life. This will continue until the day of final judgment.

Dear Heavenly Father thank you for times of replenishing on the earth. For rebuilding to know life is able to go on and thrive after a storm. Encourage your people in harms way because of current flooding and earthquakes. Help your people to shine with hope. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

Daily Bible Verses: Isaiah 25:7-8 KJV
(7) And he will destroy in this mountain the face of the covering cast over all people, and the vail that is spread over all nations.
(8) He will swallow up death in victory; and the Lord GOD will wipe away tears from off all faces; and the rebuke of his people shall he take away from off all the earth: for the LORD hath spoken it.

Daily God’s Promises: Revelation 21:5-8 KJV
(5) And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful.
(6) And he said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely.
(7) He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son.
(8) But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.

Sending Of Destruction

Daily Devotions for Tuesday: by Christina Farris 4/19/2016

2 Peter 2:4-10 KJV
(4) For if God spared not the angels that sinned, but cast them down to hell, and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved unto judgment;
(5) And spared not the old world, but saved Noah the eighth person, a preacher of righteousness, bringing in the flood upon the world of the ungodly;
(6) And turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrha into ashes condemned them with an overthrow, making them an ensample unto those that after should live ungodly;
(7) And delivered just Lot, vexed with the filthy conversation of the wicked:
(8) (For that righteous man dwelling among them, in seeing and hearing, vexed his righteous soul from day to day with their unlawful deeds;)
(9) The Lord knoweth how to deliver the godly out of temptations, and to reserve the unjust unto the day of judgment to be punished:
(10) But chiefly them that walk after the flesh in the lust of uncleanness, and despise government. Presumptuous are they, selfwilled, they are not afraid to speak evil of dignities.

God spares the righteous as in the days of Noah; God spared eight people from being killed by the flood. Only eight, survived and the descendants came from three couples, the children of Noah and their wives. All spread across this world carrying the story of destruction around the globe to those that hear and believe do testify to the truth of it. Yet those that did not believe fear neither God nor his ways. Did not understand God’s judgment for they ignore the truth of God. God people have always walked among the heathen like in the days of Sodom and Gomorrah. God spared Lot and his two daughters, but not the girls’ boyfriends, or Lot’s wife. Sin came to Lot’s family even after being saved, and so did sin come to Noah family even after being saved from destruction.

The other day I seen where a friend claimed to be stuck in a situation that she could not remove herself from. I thought to myself you only stuck physically; your choice to be stuck spiritually is based on the decisions you make today. How many people make foolish choices of joining a groups only to find that at some point they do not agree and can not remove themselves from those groups so easily. Lot was stuck where he lived, it was where he worked, and yet God moved him. Grabbing him by the shoulder and his children and propelling them out of the city by force. Lot would have remained if it had not been for the stranger convicting him of the need to leave.

In Bible times destruction was a symbol of the final destruction of God and the fiery furnace of eternal judgment. The image of flood and Sodom and Gomorrah, one man have deep faith and warning to prepare and another man with no preparation but the protection of God. Rahab had time to protect her family and friends that believed her because she helped the spies. Take note the color of the string on the door a symbol of blood protected. Death angel of war and destruction came to Rahab’s village, but not to her and her people who were behind the scarlet string door. Rahab was in the city on the day of destruction. Lot was pulled from his. Noah rest on dry land until the rain began to pour and God moved him into the sea until he reached the shore of Mount Ararat. Something to think about do you want to be Rahab with only the hope of protection was faith from the believers you met. Rahab still new to faith, yet only believe the stories. Her knowledge of God based on things she heard. Lot’s faith was based on experience of protection. The first time was against a group that had kidnapped him. Lot taken by the enemy once and then taken by the hand of God to safety. God demonstrates his power through destructive forces. He uses it to destroy evil.

Knowing this what can we say good about New Orleans was that God had people there, and yet the city was known for sinfulness. Yet it is easier to blame the man indecision of fixing the dam, above New Orleans, getting to full from nature’s fury. Not giving credit to God’s judgment is just as evil. Did those things that went wrong right and was the things right wrong? One must be clear that God’s power to destroy is clear to every believer that prays and been like Rahab or Lot. Christ’s finally returns to take his people home, he will be removing his children from destruction of God’s fury, yet there be those left behind that will believe because of his coming. It is those that believe that are left behind that walk through fire or judgment and not be destroyed. Yet to wait until that time to believe, only means perhaps you will never believe upon seeing, for God can blind your heart and mind even on the day of judgment to where you choice is no more.

Decision time is before destruction before Jesus comes. It is before your death for you do not know when a wreck, or storm may come to take you out of this world. If what you are waiting for is to behold Jesus is to believe, you could lose your own soul. Where you are when judgment comes is up to you. Rahab only had a little time to rescue her people. Noah tried for hundred years. Lot time to teach the people was over; he had to leave the city. Something to think on where are you right now regarding your faith? The decision is yours.

Dear Heavenly Father you are the God of hope in times of storms. Where we are standing in faith is only testimony of divine protection, or our time to go. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

Daily Bible Verses: Jude 1:7 KJV
(7) Even as Sodom and Gomorrha, and the cities about them in like manner, giving themselves over to fornication, and going after strange flesh, are set forth for an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire.

Daily God’s Promises: 1 Peter 1:7-9 KJV
(7) That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:
(8) Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory:
(9) Receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls.

God In Natures Forces

Daily Devotions for Monday: by Christina Farris 4/18/2016

1 Kings 19:9-19 KJV
(9) And he came thither unto a cave, and lodged there; and, behold, the word of the LORD came to him, and he said unto him, What doest thou here, Elijah?
(10) And he said, I have been very jealous for the LORD God of hosts: for the children of Israel have forsaken thy covenant, thrown down thine altars, and slain thy prophets with the sword; and I, even I only, am left; and they seek my life, to take it away.
(11) And he said, Go forth, and stand upon the mount before the LORD. And, behold, the LORD passed by, and a great and strong wind rent the mountains, and brake in pieces the rocks before the LORD; but the LORD was not in the wind: and after the wind an earthquake; but the LORD was not in the earthquake:
(12) And after the earthquake a fire; but the LORD was not in the fire: and after the fire a still small voice.
(13) And it was so, when Elijah heard it, that he wrapped his face in his mantle, and went out, and stood in the entering in of the cave. And, behold, there came a voice unto him, and said, What doest thou here, Elijah?
(14) And he said, I have been very jealous for the LORD God of hosts: because the children of Israel have forsaken thy covenant, thrown down thine altars, and slain thy prophets with the sword; and I, even I only, am left; and they seek my life, to take it away.
(15) And the LORD said unto him, Go, return on thy way to the wilderness of Damascus: and when thou comest, anoint Hazael to be king over Syria:
(16) And Jehu the son of Nimshi shalt thou anoint to be king over Israel: and Elisha the son of Shaphat of Abelmeholah shalt thou anoint to be prophet in thy room.
(17) And it shall come to pass, that him that escapeth the sword of Hazael shall Jehu slay: and him that escapeth from the sword of Jehu shall Elisha slay.
(18) Yet I have left me seven thousand in Israel, all the knees which have not bowed unto Baal, and every mouth which hath not kissed him.
(19) So he departed thence, and found Elisha the son of Shaphat, who was plowing with twelve yoke of oxen before him, and he with the twelfth: and Elijah passed by him, and cast his mantle upon him.

Something to note when reading this passage is to compare it to Moses seeing the burning bush and angel of the Lord speaking to Moses. God was not the fire that lit the bush, but the voice inside the burning bush. God stood in the mist of burning bush by His Spirit and spoke to Moses. Proof perhaps is more clear when the voice of God comes to Elijah after the wind, the earthquake and the fire. God commands nature forces, but he is not in them. God is not in the things He creates but the Spirit that goes forth within the things He creates. What I mean is the human flesh Of Jesus was flesh, but the Spirit within was God. There is only one Spirit of God and that is the Holy Spirit. God is able to enable his Spirit to be anywhere at anytime, to command to move anything in his path. Elijah found his fear of being the only one left in the world that was believer was short lived, when God spoke in a small still voice to him and then told him to go anoint a particular king and prophet. The prophet would be the next prophet after Elijah.

God’s call does not come from man, but by His Spirit. Man would like to take credit for making a person a prophet or a teacher. Yet God is the one that choose who will speak for him. Some people reject who God calls. This is normal, after all Jesus was rejected, but proven to be the Son of God of who He claimed to be. His flesh passing away but the Spirit raising up the body of flesh changing it into incorruptible flesh.

Some people find God through sitting in quiet surrounds of the world He created. Perhaps in the quietness, they hear God more clearly in their spirit, or more freely willing to listen to God. The storms in life come and go but God’s Spirit is not the storm, but He is present by His Spirit. Elijah found himself in fear of the whirlwind, the earthquake and the fire, yet these things did not seek Elijah life, but was close enough to take his life. Yet it was God’s still small voice that He heard and knew if it was God seeking his life he would be dead. God has the power to bring the storms overhead and even allow you to walk through it, but the storms might be commanded by God but are not God. The fiery furnace in the story of Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego was not God but God was in the furnace as the fourth man being thought to be like the Son of God. Story is in Daniel. God’s is presence in our storms but God himself is not the storm, but he has power over the storm. In the fiery furnace story God’s people did not burn up, yet by all nature and human reasoning they should of died, because even some of the king’s soldiers died from the heat.

My mother in law reminds me God’s arms were around me in my wreck. I happen to agree, God’s power was there, despite my storm. It is God’s small voice that speaks to our hearts, but God might not speak within the storm. God might be using the storm to test our faith, for our knowledge, but God already knows. God knows how we will react yet we do not. God knows the very nature of mankind and us individually. Elijah need to runaway and hide out of fear, only proves Elijah was human. Yet God showed Elijah if he wanted him dead he would dead. Our fear of adventure and living should never be, if we trust in God, for what will happen will happen, yet God is not going to allow harm until our day of our death. Illness will take some of us. Hardship, wrecks and storms will take a few more of us. Yet how we go is in God’s plan. When Elijah finally departs from the earth he goes in a flaming chariot pulled by fiery horses toward heaven. A real live Cinderella story Elijah the believer going toward God’s kingdom in a chariot.

Our fears in this life can only be shorten by the hand of God. It is like being afraid to walk in the woods because of snakes and other wild creatures. You might never see something that could harm you, or you might see those wild creatures and go a running. Depending on what you see it might be better to freeze in place and other times it be better to climb a tree, or perhaps run up a hill or down a hill depending on if it is a bear or a wild cat. However if riding in a plane scares you, remember nothing going to take you out of this world but God and yet it might be that pilot’s day to die, but not yours, for many have survived even an airplane crash. Yet the point is this, why worry about what you cannot change only take the precautions of the type of harm that can come from certain actions. God never said one would not loose a limb in a storm, only that he take you through it, and God never said someone would not be burnt, if one went into a house fire, yet God protect his people in the fiery furnace. Why God allows some to die and others to live will be mystery till we reach heaven. Step out your door today knowing a hailstorm may come, but your protection and shield is from the Lord.

Dear Heavenly Father thank you for the reminder of your power over the storms and defy scientific logic. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

Daily Bible Verses: Exodus 3:2 KJV
(2) And the angel of the LORD appeared unto him in a flame of fire out of the midst of a bush: and he looked, and, behold, the bush burned with fire, and the bush was not consumed.

Daily God’s Promises: Acts 2:2-4 KJV
(2) And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting.

(4) And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

Every Sunday A Psalms: How Long

Daily Devotions for Sunday:  by Christina Farris 4/17/2016

Psalms 82:1-8 KJV
(1) A Psalm of Asaph. God standeth in the congregation of the mighty; he judgeth among the gods.
(2) How long will ye judge unjustly, and accept the persons of the wicked? Selah.
(3) Defend the poor and fatherless: do justice to the afflicted and needy.
(4) Deliver the poor and needy: rid them out of the hand of the wicked.
(5) They know not, neither will they understand; they walk on in darkness: all the foundations of the earth are out of course.
(6) I have said, Ye are gods; and all of you are children of the most High.
(7) But ye shall die like men, and fall like one of the princes.
(8) Arise, O God, judge the earth: for thou shalt inherit all nations.

When I read any Psalms similar to the one above my first thought is how long Lord, before the world sings in one accord your Praises, and your children live in victory. The stars of this world and the super leaders of our world are like gods walking to and fro through the land among the people. Everyone needing a leader to follow and yet the only leader we need is the one True God and His Son to follow. Are we blind to the children gazing at the stars and desiring their popularity. Are we blind to the fact some of these people with power only have it because of their greed. The need for greed to rule the earth is seen in the star power of rebellion and evil ways. The idea of Hollywood being a place of hopes and dreams is short lived by many that adventure to go there. Now with video social media and social media everyone is a star. We all become like Hollywood dying to see each other’s latest videos, and images of life outside the computer land. Yet how many fail to go beyond the screen to explore their world beyond the computer. Have we become trapped behind a machine? The other day as I worked on my computer and did updates to my web pages I found myself asking can I please get off the computer and do something else today. The answer came not until I finish. Hearing my mother’s words when working on a project growing up, or doing an unwanted task or chore. My mother always one to encourage a task to completion, yet never pressured when it came to things of my own choice, like craft projects and such. Any job worth doing must be done right. And then I began to search through web pages and seeing to many errors, but all felt inspired to write. The attitude I can do better today, tomorrow and next year. And why did I not do that.

The project hands across America spanned our nation. If the saints all stood in like manner and praise the Lord I wonder what would happen. The believer longs for heaven as they watch for ways to fatten their own wallets and become more like the stars they see. A star might desire to be among the children of the world instead of the limelight for a second. Back to the normalcy of human life without being tossed to and fro from one end of the spectrum to the other. Everyone is beating to a different drummer under the name of freedom. Yet few understand true freedom comes with staying in tune with God. Marching in step in faith toward the pearly gates of deliverance for all that believe.

For those walking in the darkness of our world they understand not that faith brings about peace with our neighbors. It is a life style choice. It is a life style of saying I doing it God’s way because His way is superior. It is saying God loved me enough to send his salvation plan through his Son to die for me. He stood up and received us as his own even when his Son was crucified because Jesus said Father forgive them, they know not what they do. Evil men rage and never realizing the evil they do. They are tone deaf to their own misery and the plight of others. There own soul shadowed only by darkness of greed and selfish desire, understanding not the ways of God because they have no desire to learn about God. With or without a book one will learn about God if they desire and do not desire. God desire us to seek Him. To read scripture and so forth, but without scripture God still spoke to man’s heart by his Spirit. God’s word still going forth to man ears.

God’s grace is sufficient for our needs. God’s grace is beyond our own hope and dreams of a better tomorrow. God allows the heathens of the world to have their say to only destroy them with His word and power; God wants to destroy them with his love for them. Destroy them to the point they kneel before His throne in true humbleness. How long does God’s people have to wait. God’s timing is not ours. Jesus is coming back soon, but how soon? Our time is short we go back to the dirt of the land, and yet our Spirit soars toward heaven for all that believe in Jesus.

Dear Heavenly Father give us that precious hope of tomorrow knowing your deliverance is coming. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

Daily Bible Verses: Job 34:19 KJV
(19) How much less to him that accepteth not the persons of princes, nor regardeth the rich more than the poor? for they all are the work of his hands.

Daily God’s Promises: Revelation 11:15 KJV
(15) And the seventh angel sounded; and there were great voices in heaven, saying, The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of his Christ; and he shall reign for ever and ever.

Time of Christ: Christ Tender Care

Daily Devotions for Saturday: by Christina Farris 4/16/2016

Luke 13:6-9 KJV
(6) He spake also this parable; A certain man had a fig tree planted in his vineyard; and he came and sought fruit thereon, and found none.
(7) Then said he unto the dresser of his vineyard, Behold, these three years I come seeking fruit on this fig tree, and find none: cut it down; why cumbereth it the ground?
(8) And he answering said unto him, Lord, let it alone this year also, till I shall dig about it, and dung it:
(9) And if it bear fruit, well: and if not, then after that thou shalt cut it down.

Ten years or more ago I bought three mini rose bushes, and none are living now do to cold weather. These rose bushes not a hardy plant for our area. Yet I got them on a good sale day. The local grocery store had gotten a shipment in and they had gotten frostbite from being outside. The odds of their survival by the way they looked, was not good. In fact I looked at all the frostbite and wondered if they could live. Well they were on sale and what is a dollar back then but a loaf of toast right. No it much more then that it a dollar that could go on a pot beans. I looked at the three mini rose bushes and said three dollars for plants that might not make it. I decided to buy them and give them a chance.

I took the three mini rose bushes hope and trimmed all the frost bitten areas away. Not much was left and still I wonder could these bushes live. A little plant food and a little water soon brought life back to the roses. As they began to grow I finally had my husband dig three holes, and I gentle put them in the ground, wondering still how long they would live. These three mini roses bushes graced my yard for five years. Perhaps they would of lived longer if I brought them in before the harsh winter that took them out had gotten them they still be alive. Yet one never knows with plants whether they make it or not, especially where I live. Winters use to be much crueler in the mountains, but global warming changed all that. Those rose bushes still would not make it in forty below zero, Fahrenheit weather, so I was bound sooner or later to have frozen bushes, but how long would they fight to survive. Tender care brings forth good fruit, or in this case beautiful roses.

The gardener can protect a plant, water it and see if it will grow but even he knows that it just might not survive. Yet the life of tender care might mean good production of life from a tree or bush. In scripture plants represent human life or at least in this passage. Jesus wants to take us and plant us in his word and bring forth a change in our life. God cast out Cain from his sight, but he produced offspring that did not follow the ways of God. Cain family died with the flood. Noah family was intermixed with Cain I have to do more research. Yet there is point we all produce good and bad fruit in our life. Pruning is a necessary to bare more fruit, if left not pruned, or clipped flowers/fruit will not produce well. God wants to do the clipping of the sin from each of our life, so we can produce good fruit. God word through Christ took the outcast of our world and taught the scripture in away they would understand. The fruit of Christ came forth with life flowing freely from it; bring forth the hope of better tomorrow and heavens gate open wide to those that abide in Jesus.

The outcasts are the people who are alienated from God. My father, mother and sister family, all live many miles from me. It been sometime since I spent any quality time with them. Feeling more alienated now with each passing year. It is the miles and distance that makes one realize how far one lives from another. It feeling of not knowing when the next time you visit it might be one’s last, so you strive to make each visit the best you can. Alienation from God is far worst then family, yet family pulls at the heartstrings in a very different way. One refuses to hear God for a time, one’s life is going to be a mess. It is a miracle if God even allows one that space between Him and us. Israel in the wilderness need space before grabbing onto the promise of the Promise Land, yet it alienate those that had gone from Egypt to the door of the promise land, from entering in. The door of heaven shut to them, because of a lack of faith, after all they had seen. Yet these that were shut out bore fruit in their children, who entered the Promise Land. How long does one have to be alienated to realize the need of God and his power is sufficient in our lives to conquer the mountains in our life? A tender plant needs care, but it cast out it might still bring forth fruit in a compost pile. My dad when I was little had a compost pile on the edge of the garden. Any bad vegetable was toss there as well as peelings from vegetables. This pile still produced plants. Why is anyone surprised if one planted in the word of God does not bring forth fruit even if the person lands up in the compost pile? There are seeds there that sprout from rotten fruit. People need to wake up and realize that every rotten apple has potential in the hands of God. In the hands of God, he will bring forth life and liberty to the believer. Jesus took the outcast and seen the potential of being part of the family of God. He did not reject the religious leaders, but he corrected them. Jesus brought forth fruit with his death and resurrection. With Christ death a Roman soldier said this must have been the Son of God. Without giving a person a chance to change, one will never see the hope. Yet the one with hope was Christ. God sent the people in the wilderness once more, but opportunity for change, but the lost the earthly promise in process all but Caleb and one other, who had faith God could do anything.

Dear Heavenly Father give us the reassurance of your pruning when we fail to produce fruit of faith, hope and love. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

Daily Bible Verses: John 15:2 KJV
(2) Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit.

Daily God’s Promises: 1 Peter 2:9-10 KJV
(9) But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:
(10) Which in time past were not a people, but are now the people of God: which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy.

Gigantic Fruit

Daily Devotions for Friday: by Christina Farris 4/15/2016

Numbers 13:17-25 KJV
(17) And Moses sent them to spy out the land of Canaan, and said unto them, Get you up this way southward, and go up into the mountain:
(18) And see the land, what it is; and the people that dwelleth therein, whether they be strong or weak, few or many;
(19) And what the land is that they dwell in, whether it be good or bad; and what cities they be that they dwell in, whether in tents, or in strong holds;
(20) And what the land is, whether it be fat or lean, whether there be wood therein, or not. And be ye of good courage, and bring of the fruit of the land. Now the time was the time of the firstripe grapes.
(21) So they went up, and searched the land from the wilderness of Zin unto Rehob, as men come to Hamath.
(22) And they ascended by the south, and came unto Hebron; where Ahiman, Sheshai, and Talmai, the children of Anak, were. (Now Hebron was built seven years before Zoan in Egypt.)
(23) And they came unto the brook of Eshcol, and cut down from thence a branch with one cluster of grapes, and they bare it between two upon a staff; and they brought of the pomegranates, and of the figs.
(24) The place was called the brook Eshcol, because of the cluster of grapes which the children of Israel cut down from thence.
(25) And they returned from searching of the land after forty days.

Alice in wonderland might be a myth but the fact is the children of Israel spies found huge gigantic fruit. I often thought this fruit was maybe a bit of exaggeration until one day a friend of mine had family come out of Florida to see her. The lemons she brought to her cousin were the size of a huge melon like a small pumpkin. If a person is use to seeing little lemons these huge lemons seem enormous in size, In fact one lemon would make at least one pitcher of lemonade or several pies with no trouble. This was not a lemon to make slices for tea or other beverages; it was for lemonade or something that could be baked. If you really like lemons I guess you could eat it like a grapefruit, or an orange.

What are you going to do with love, joy, peace, love, faith longsuffering, gentleness, and kindness, the fruit of the Holy Spirit? Some people seem to be carrying fruit of the Holy Spirit the size of a strawberry and others the size of a grapefruit. Yet all the fruit is from one source the Holy Spirit. Caleb and some men had been sent in to check out the promise land to see what it looked like. After all it was the land of their ancestors, but no doubt someone had taken up residency in their absence of over four hundred years. To day a land left vacant that long would be sold at auction and it be no longer the family of the people who no longer lived there. Yet tribal times were different. Once a place was yours, it was thought to be yours, even if you left it especially if the people were nomadic type of tribe, which Abraham’s family was. They had cared for sheep of the field and his son’s carried on this tradition of sheep herding and farming. The abundance of crops in the promise land was like looking into paradise. The first time Abraham looked into the promise land, the land was not so green or full of life. Yet life and vegetation had grown in abundance in the Promise Land, so much so it had taken in strangers who rested on the property.

Caleb and the spies come back with this huge story of giants, carrying large fruit. Fruit Caleb wanted more of, yet the other spies were fearful to possess the land of promise, this would take Israel back into the wilderness for a time. How often the person looking into the church world sees the love of God but is fearful to grab a hold of faith. They taste the fruit of love, and hope by witnessing other believers’ lives. Yet to grab a hold of the fruit for themselves and take control and say I want the promise land too, is not so easy. Of course for a non-believer repentance is necessary. It is easier to remain in sin, then for a person to repent, some times. Even the believer knows this. It is the guilt of feeling unworthy to possess the things of God. However the promises of God are for us to grab hold of. The Holy Spirit is not for us to use, but for God to move in us, by providing love when a person would like to hate, or bearing for a long time with someone when a person would like to call it quits. It is showing kindness, when a person would like to really tell a person what one thinks, but hold their peace. To grab hold of the ways of God must begin with faith. To believe giant fruit exist is not hard, but to believe in the reality of God for some people it is harder. To believe in love is not so hard, even if surround by perverse people. Even people of perversion love their children. A child will often melt even the coldest heart, even if it takes time. Faith in God begins often with the very seed of thought, of his existence, but it does not end there. God desires each of us to believe in him. If a person has the desire to know God, God is going to reveal himself to them but it make take time for one to understand. Jesus came to bridge the gap between God and mankind, by demonstrating his love for us. By demonstrating God’s love all the way to the cross and by the resurrection. He came and took away our sin that caused us to die and gave us eternal life through Him. Breaking the punishment of Adam’s sin. Through forgiveness of our sin, when we ask, and promises of eternal life with him is given. The promise is to abide in his love for eternity. Those gigantic lemons being squeezed out to make lemonade, or like those gigantic bunches of grapes being squeezed to make juice or wine, remind us of the pain and blood poured out of Christ at Calvary. Only one had to die for our sin. Yet many die daily for failure to share ones faith in Jesus and our hope. People afraid to grab a hold of the promises of God because of looking at others life style claiming that hope. Never grasping the love of God is given to all, for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, even some die more often then others in their transgression, realizing not only their failure but realizing God’s wants to change those areas that causing others to fall away from Him.

Do you want to be a witness of the gigantic fruit of God by allowing God’s Spirit to work in your life so others can see the hope through Christ Jesus? Or do you desire to be like the fruit gathered only to be taken out of the promise land for a few more years to learn about the ways and promises of God? Fruit was Plentiful and manna had to been old tasting, but the promise to possess the land was not enough. Do you trust God to grab a hold of His promise? Are you willing to grab hold knowing it not your ability to forgive, but God’s ability to forgive you that enables you to forgive others? Are you willing to love by God’s power, when your strength fails, because it will? Are you willing to long suffer, knowing God suffered for you?

Dear Heavenly Father help us to grab a hold of the gigantic fruit to possess the land of promise, and not just take a sample of your fruit with us. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

Daily Bible Verses: Numbers 13:31 KJV
(31) But the men that went up with him said, We be not able to go up against the people; for they are stronger than we.

Daily God’s Promises: Hebrews 3:19-4:3 KJV
(19) So we see that they could not enter in because of unbelief.
(1) Let us therefore fear, lest, a promise being left us of entering into his rest, any of you should seem to come short of it.
(2) For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it.
(3) For we which have believed do enter into rest, as he said, As I have sworn in my wrath, if they shall enter into my rest: although the works were finished from the foundation of the world.

Land of Milk And Honey

Daily Devotions for Thursday: by Christina Farris 4/14/2016

Exodus 3:6-11 KJV
(6) Moreover he said, I am the God of thy father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob. And Moses hid his face; for he was afraid to look upon God.
(7) And the LORD said, I have surely seen the affliction of my people which are in Egypt, and have heard their cry by reason of their taskmasters; for I know their sorrows;
(8) And I am come down to deliver them out of the hand of the Egyptians, and to bring them up out of that land unto a good land and a large, unto a land flowing with milk and honey; unto the place of the Canaanites, and the Hittites, and the Amorites, and the Perizzites, and the Hivites, and the Jebusites.
(9) Now therefore, behold, the cry of the children of Israel is come unto me: and I have also seen the oppression wherewith the Egyptians oppress them.
(10) Come now therefore, and I will send thee unto Pharaoh, that thou mayest bring forth my people the children of Israel out of Egypt.
(11) And Moses said unto God, Who am I, that I should go unto Pharaoh, and that I should bring forth the children of Israel out of Egypt?

The story is about one flight of oppression to another land with idolaters around Israel. The promise land is only as beautiful as the rising sunset and the descending sunset. The promise land is only what you make of it. Lot in Sodom and Gomorrah found his promise land to be a place to flee from only to becoming like Sodom and Gomorrah when he sinned with his two daughters and It was sin caused by Lot’s drunkenness and consumption of two much alcohol. His sin and his daughters’ sin was no different then the land they left; yet God allowed them flourish for a season. Moses went to lead Israel out of the land of Egypt, a land of foreign gods and foreign ways that enslaved them, though they first came as guest of Egypt’s Savior Joseph. One might ask then what became of the land of freedom, the land flowing with milk and honey. Well Moses enslaved Israel for forty years in the wilderness. Even killing some. If one only see this part of the story one fails to see the redemption of God in the wilderness through signs and wonders. Signs of pillar of fire by night and cloud during the day or the miracle of water where there was no oasis and manna from heaven because there was nothing to eat. If it were not for these miracles would Israel still held to their belief in Almighty, I have to wonder myself what kept the Israelites going back to God if what they received was only a little deliverance, enough for the day and the night, but not enough for a week.

Israel was going to a land of promise, a land that they own that was given to them by the Canaanites, who were a people that traded and live next door to Israel. The people, whose customs were abusive by their worship of their god, object not to the worship of Abraham’s God. Israel as it grew did not care if heathens/gentiles that worship other gods or not, as long as it did not harm their own people, or become a stench in the world. After all did not Israel kings allowed their wives to sacrifice their children to their pagan gods. Jews in general were pacifist but also not afraid to fight.

The land of promise is a land flowing with milk and honey, a place of fertile soil, a place to grow a garden, and pick the fruit of it, a place to raise one’s children, a place to develop technology and even develop skills, and most of all a land to worship their God and not infringe on the rights of others. Israel live peacefully with all people. Yet Idolatry life style of Israel caused them captivity, because of their individual sin of the their leaders, nation and their personal sin, that caused them to once again be enslaved by heathen land of greed.

Two worlds to live in as a believer, the abuser of one area or the abuser of another area. It is a miracle if a true pacifist actually remains that way. It must come with the resolve of enjoying the sunset and sunrise, or the joy of life and living it, whether in paradise or in hell on earth. One has to be able to find the rose among the thorns in life, or the beauty of the world around them despite the horror that goes on around them. One person paradise is another person hell. A person enjoying one type of work only be a nightmare for another person because they have no love for it.

Moses was called to take Israel from one heathen group to another. Yet when they went they go with wonders and miracles following them by the stories that were told about the plagues, and miracles done in Egypt. One has to ask if the plagues were enough to cause belief of the pharaoh of a heathen land? The Pharaoh never believed for if he had he never chased those people through the red sea, only to be consumed by so much water.

Moses taking his people to be enslaved once more to the world around them. No He was taking his people to be a lighthouse for God. To be a lighthouse to the people around them. That the world might know that the God of Israel was real. Nations feared Israel, even noting their own plagues as a sign of terrible things they did to Israel, including stealing the God of Israel once. There had to be much more then a trip through the wilderness to land flowing of milk and honey. There had to be more then the call of God on Moses life to bring the people to the land of promise.

When the return of Christ happens, it will be land that will become great again with the New Jerusalem. The word going forth like it did in the days of old the stories of God our Savior being our refuge in a time of storm. The world would see the light of God and know the reality of one that keeps his promises to his people. A God that kept not only his word, but brought peace to all people. The believer is a light or should be alight to those around of God’s saving grace. Israel when they left for the promise land had to learn the ways of the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, The God that sent the plagues to deliver them, and a God that sent a deliver to them out of bondage.

God asked Moses to lead the people to the promise land of milk and honey, but it was kind of like the train master being hired for the job. Moses even bartering with God what he needed as having someone to speak to Pharaoh for him. Yet no doubt the memory of his people being beaten caused him some desire to rescue his people. God being the one to hire Moses was the one that paid Moses, with the reward of after traveling with Israel forty years he did not have to go into the land of promise, because of his own disobedience, yet it seems to me it must have been an odd blessing.

The land of promise is only as beautiful as the company one keeps in that land. God desired to be companion to Israel, and help in troublesome times, if they obeyed Him. God had created man to flourish, but not all man received God as Lord. Neither Jew or Gentile, and so Christ came to make a way for the Gentiles. The Promise land on earth is where ever you abide. Yet the promise land of God is the place of Israel, a place choose to remind the people of hope of freedom, peace, of following God. It about learning to obey God by His Spirit for all that believe. It about obeying God’s word and spirit, and receiving His salvation plan as truth. Israel became like the world around them, but not without the hope of God still glistening among the people.

God called Moses to set his people free. God hired Moses to do a job for him. Are you called by God to set the people free, only to lead them into a promise land of hope with the heathen world around them? Consider what is milk and honey to Israel but freedom land, a place to worship God under his leadership. A place of hope, despite those around them. Where are you today, in the land of promise or a land of misery. Are you a candle for God shining forth his works or a candle of destruction and enslavement to the devil’s world?

Dear Heavenly Father thank you for the land of milk and honey, a land of promise, with a brighter tomorrow. A land full of milk and honey. In Jesus precious name, Amen.
