Epiphany of Jesus

Daily Devotions for Tuesday: by turtle30c

Matthew 12:46-50 KJV
(46) While he yet talked to the people, behold, his mother and his brethren stood without, desiring to speak with him.
(47) Then one said unto him, Behold, thy mother and thy brethren stand without, desiring to speak with thee.
(48) But he answered and said unto him that told him, Who is my mother? and who are my brethren?
(49) And he stretched forth his hand toward his disciples, and said, Behold my mother and my brethren!
(50) For whosoever shall do the will of my Father which is in heaven, the same is my brother, and sister, and mother.

Epiphany of Christ has to do more with baptism then with the star of the wise men. Yet there are several differences on the meaning and in truth one might say the wise men were baptized in obedience of God’s word when they had a vision to go another way. Yet Jesus baptism was by immersion of water, a symbol of taking away one sin. Abimelech was baptized into the word of God when God warned him not to sleep with Sarah Abraham’s wife. How is one baptized but into the word of God, through both upon hearing and upon receiving causing one to act on the will, and warnings of God.

How heart broken was Mary the mother of Jesus when Jesus had no time for her. Did Jesus obey and continue to submit to his mother in his journey as an adult in ministry. I do not doubt He loved his mother, but he was busy when she showed up. Kind of like if one family shows up at work, you really do not have time for them at the moment because you are serving where you work. Jesus was serving a full course meal to those listening to Him. To those that obey Jesus were his family. Those who did not were none of his. Jesus turned the event of his family appearing into a sermon for those listening.

The military baptizes their men and women into military jargon. Fire department in to language of rescue and fire. A department store into its own language of buying and selling. The computer tech world into a language to complex for many. Yet if you can follow the language you will do will in these task. Will being baptized in God’s word allows you to do will as a child of God. When we follow Jesus, we follow in obedience to God. We learn to walk in the language of God’s word and obedience. God knows our language, most everyone else only thinks they do. Yet God in his wisdom knows how to get us to move forward in faith and obedience doing his will. Baptism begins with faith in God’s word that what God says is true that we fall on our knees to repentance as instructed by the word of God in scripture, some might say to minister, but it is the pricking of the Holy Spirit on the heart that convicts one to obey.

Jesus says you are one of his if you obey Him. Yet you are baptized into Christ if you obey and not only hear the word of God. Many know God’s language of scripture, even the devil does, but the devil does not obey God. Think this morning are you child of the kingdom of God. Are you part of Jesus’ family.

Dear Heavenly Father convict our hearts upon hearing of your word to follow in baptism of faith to obedience. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

Daily Bible Verses: James 1:22-25 KJV
(22) But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.
(23) For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass:
(24) For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was.
(25) But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.

Daily God’s Promises: James 2:23-24 KJV
(23) And the scripture was fulfilled which saith, Abraham believed God, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness: and he was called the Friend of God.
(24) Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only.

War In Heaven

Daily Devotions for Monday: by turtle30c

Revelation 12:1-17 KJV
(1) And there appeared a great wonder in heaven; a woman clothed with the sun, and the moon under her feet, and upon her head a crown of twelve stars:
(2) And she being with child cried, travailing in birth, and pained to be delivered.
(3) And there appeared another wonder in heaven; and behold a great red dragon, having seven heads and ten horns, and seven crowns upon his heads.
(4) And his tail drew the third part of the stars of heaven, and did cast them to the earth: and the dragon stood before the woman which was ready to be delivered, for to devour her child as soon as it was born.
(5) And she brought forth a man child, who was to rule all nations with a rod of iron: and her child was caught up unto God, and to his throne.
(6) And the woman fled into the wilderness, where she hath a place prepared of God, that they should feed her there a thousand two hundred and threescore days.
(7) And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels,
(8) And prevailed not; neither was their place found any more in heaven.
(9) And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.
(10) And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night.
(11) And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.
(12) Therefore rejoice, ye heavens, and ye that dwell in them. Woe to the inhabiters of the earth and of the sea! for the devil is come down unto you, having great wrath, because he knoweth that he hath but a short time.
(13) And when the dragon saw that he was cast unto the earth, he persecuted the woman which brought forth the man child.
(14) And to the woman were given two wings of a great eagle, that she might fly into the wilderness, into her place, where she is nourished for a time, and times, and half a time, from the face of the serpent.
(15) And the serpent cast out of his mouth water as a flood after the woman, that he might cause her to be carried away of the flood.
(16) And the earth helped the woman, and the earth opened her mouth, and swallowed up the flood which the dragon cast out of his mouth.
(17) And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.

This passage this morning is the commemorates the life of Christ but the celebration of the church and the victory. The more one reads Revelations and other books of prophecy one gets the image in one’s mind of the victory through Christ. Yet the poetic way the birth and victory in heaven is displayed in Revelations to unlearned person the book of Revelations is unclear. This chapter holds many mysterious within it. Yet it is easily read when one understands the woman in heaven is the church of God. The twelve crowns the twelve tribes of Israel. Mary, who is example of the virgin bride of God as well as People of God. Mary would escape with her child to a land of the Egyptians going through the wilderness. She would remain there for a time before fighting the dragon that fell from heaven and wonders the earth even today. The dragon in Christian culture a symbol of Satan called Lucifer in Isaiah 14.

Dragon tries to destroy the church but can not. Dragon tried to destroy God’s plan of Salvation to the Gentiles. He tries to steel the word of God from the believers heart. Science is one way that is used to try to disprove the reality of God. Yet science backs up the reality of God. Magic arts is another way that is used to deceive the believer. Yet in the story of Wise men they were warned in a dream to go a different way home. Joseph also warned in a dream by God to go to Egypt. Now two warnings in a dream, to leave Bethlehem. Several things we know about the wise men, there were probably more then three that traveled. Yet three is what is depicted in the Christmas story. Did the wise men bring their families while they journey. No one knows. What we do know both Joseph and the wise men were warned in a dream to leave.

Why flee to Egypt, King Herod, was sending his troops to kill the innocent children. Wise men and Joseph escaped from the blood bath and slaughter of the babies. Mary with Jesus fled not looking back. Yet one day would return to Israel. Once returned Jesus would face the government, to be crucified and victory would be won through His resurrection. All of Israel would rejoice. Death would no longer hold any power over the saints of God or the Gentiles that believed the prophesy of the Lamb/the Word of God.

The final will be won with the return of Christ in the flesh. Every eye will see Him and every eye will behold Him. And the saints of God will rise first to judgment and the rest will rise to face death. Very simple, yet all will bow to the word of God on judgment day.

Dear Heavenly Father, we ask for a guiding hand over your church, that your people that humble themselves and seek you will know when to run, and when to come home. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

Daily Bible Verses: Matthew 2:13 KJV
(13) And when they were departed, behold, the angel of the Lord appeareth to Joseph in a dream, saying, Arise, and take the young child and his mother, and flee into Egypt, and be thou there until I bring thee word: for Herod will seek the young child to destroy him.

Daily God’s Promises: Revelation 19:5-16 KJV
(5) And a voice came out of the throne, saying, Praise our God, all ye his servants, and ye that fear him, both small and great.
(6) And I heard as it were the voice of a great multitude, and as the voice of many waters, and as the voice of mighty thunderings, saying, Alleluia: for the Lord God omnipotent reigneth.
(7) Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honour to him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready.
(8) And to her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white: for the fine linen is the righteousness of saints.
(9) And he saith unto me, Write, Blessed are they which are called unto the marriage supper of the Lamb. And he saith unto me, These are the true sayings of God.
(10) And I fell at his feet to worship him. And he said unto me, See thou do it not: I am thy fellowservant, and of thy brethren that have the testimony of Jesus: worship God: for the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.
(11) And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war.
(12) His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns; and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he himself.
(13) And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God.
(14) And the armies which were in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean.
(15) And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God.
(16) And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.
