Be Prepared To Obey

Daily Devotions:
by Christina Farris

Exodus 3:1-10 KJV
1 Now Moses kept the flock of Jethro his father in law, the priest of Midian: and he led the flock to the backside of the desert, and came to the mountain of God, even to Horeb.
2 And the angel of the LORD appeared unto him in a flame of fire out of the midst of a bush: and he looked, and, behold, the bush burned with fire, and the bush was not consumed.
3 And Moses said, I will now turn aside, and see this great sight, why the bush is not burnt.
4 And when the LORD saw that he turned aside to see, God called unto him out of the midst of the bush, and said, Moses, Moses. And he said, Here am I.
5 And he said, Draw not nigh hither: put off thy shoes from off thy feet, for the place whereon thou standest is holy ground.
6 Moreover he said, I am the God of thy father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob. And Moses hid his face; for he was afraid to look upon God.
7 And the LORD said, I have surely seen the affliction of my people which are in Egypt, and have heard their cry by reason of their taskmasters; for I know their sorrows;
8 And I am come down to deliver them out of the hand of the Egyptians, and to bring them up out of that land unto a good land and a large, unto a land flowing with milk and honey; unto the place of the Canaanites, and the Hittites, and the Amorites, and the Perizzites, and the Hivites, and the Jebusites.
9 Now therefore, behold, the cry of the children of Israel is come unto me: and I have also seen the oppression wherewith the Egyptians oppress them.
10 Come now therefore, and I will send thee unto Pharaoh, that thou mayest bring forth my people the children of Israel out of Egypt.

Exodus 4:1 KJV
1 And Moses answered and said, But, behold, they will not believe me, nor hearken unto my voice: for they will say, The LORD hath not appeared unto thee.

Exodus 4:8-17 KJV
8 And it shall come to pass, if they will not believe thee, neither hearken to the voice of the first sign, that they will believe the voice of the latter sign.
9 And it shall come to pass, if they will not believe also these two signs, neither hearken unto thy voice, that thou shalt take of the water of the river, and pour it upon the dry land: and the water which thou takest out of the river shall become blood upon the dry land.
10 And Moses said unto the LORD, O my Lord, I am not eloquent, neither heretofore, nor since thou hast spoken unto thy servant: but I am slow of speech, and of a slow tongue.
11 And the LORD said unto him, Who hath made man's mouth? or who maketh the dumb, or deaf, or the seeing, or the blind? have not I the LORD?
12 Now therefore go, and I will be with thy mouth, and teach thee what thou shalt say.
13 And he said, O my Lord, send, I pray thee, by the hand of him whom thou wilt send.
14 And the anger of the LORD was kindled against Moses, and he said, Is not Aaron the Levite thy brother? I know that he can speak well. And also, behold, he cometh forth to meet thee: and when he seeth thee, he will be glad in his heart.
15 And thou shalt speak unto him, and put words in his mouth: and I will be with thy mouth, and with his mouth, and will teach you what ye shall do.
16 And he shall be thy spokesman unto the people: and he shall be, even he shall be to thee instead of a mouth, and thou shalt be to him instead of God.
17 And thou shalt take this rod in thine hand, wherewith thou shalt do signs.

Moses was called in the wilderness by God. God used Moses curiousity to attract him to the burning bush that never burned up. God knows how to speak to our hearts, but he also knows our limitation on his calling. Moses never seemed fearful, but more in doubt of his call. God was after all his God by perhaps belief, but he was his God by family lineage. He never question about why me Lord, but more of maybe no I can not go because they will not listen to me. Did Moses not know the children of Israel, for though they listen to Moses they often railed agains thim in the wilderness where he did lead them. God used a method to attract Moses that would not cause him to be afraid but reverent to him. God use a burning bush to speak of the holy ground he walked on that was anointed for this purpose of bring him to a place of hearing God speak to him from a burning bush. A bush that caught fire and did not burn up would be a mystery to me to, but not necessarily something I go and see. Perhaps the presence of God speaking to him about who he is kept Moses from being fearful. If you introduced to God by who he is, and who knew him you probably be less fearful. How often when we are introduced to new people we know not only their name but something about them. Maybe something like a story, history, maybe introduction of the purpose of meeting them. Sometimes we meet people and are never introduce to them and maybe then a mere acquaintance, but God is more then an acquaintance to Moses by his introduction. God went to the extreme of telling him who knew him in his family. How many generation ago was Abraham. We know from Abraham vision from the Lord the exile in Egypt was suppose to be four hundred years.

There are things we can understand that a time frame had past and people no longer feared God. We can understand it had been a long time since God seemed to have visited the children of Israel. I do not believe that so, I believe that he had not visited them as a nation, as entire whole. If God came to the United States and only to the United States how would he get our attention as a nation. What kind of leaders would the entire United States of America listen too. What kind of speaker would every nation want to listen to as well. If you think for a moment how many nations would hear you. Then you have to ask why would they hear. Perhaps a miracle of healing, that was shouted from one in the universe to the other, perhaps it something more then that they desire for the Gospel to go freely across the world, with no cost to the world to hear. I do not know what it takes, or what would attract, but I know if God is speaking through someone, people will hear, or close their ears to the person until something happens to draw their attention to that person to hear what spoken.

Moses was afraid to speak for God, afraid to allow God to put words in his mouth to speak for God. God would solve Moses problem by sending his biological to him to speak for him, while he taught Moses how to speak for him. Most of our fear is the enability to convey the words of God properly to those that God sends us too. Moses also had a problem with is would those who heard want to listen to him for he understood he was not elquoent man of speech.

God was going to teach Moses and provide the miracles and plagues to use to set a fear among the people. The river in Egypt would become blood on dry ground was the first plague to start the fear of God in the people of Egypt and even Israel to know God was with Moses. Some believe the water was color was caused by red algae in the scientific world, but one thing to note there was no way to know when the flood waters in Egypt would occur and so when you think of only a glass of water being pour out and words spoken and it occuring, then it was more then red algae. Are we looking at the word of God with new insight of how God's word works instantly at times and other times over a course of time like learning to speak, and do the will of God.

We must understand that will of God is something we can not control, it something we learn to obey. Something we do because of our fear of God, or our reverence for God. Moses would do the will God out of reverence for him not out of fear. He would obey God of his forefathers, and not question this God beyond how do I do my duties because I can not vitualize me being able to do that. Yet God provides for his fear of enability. Do not fear what God ask of you, just ask how will I do these things. For God has called each believer to share the Gospel of Jesus. Don't be afraid, just be willing to allow God to teach you for he will fill your lips and your mouth with words only he can provide.

Dear Heavenly Father, prepare our hearts do your will according to will and purpose in our life, not fearing the how, but fearing the one with reverence who is telling us to go and do. Open our hearts to obedience to you. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

Continual Scripture Study: Matthew 10:19-20 KJV
19 But when they deliver you up, take no thought how or what ye shall speak: for it shall be given you in that same hour what ye shall speak.
20 For it is not ye that speak, but the Spirit of your Father which speaketh in you.

Genesis 15:13-14 KJV
13 And he said unto Abram, Know of a surety that thy seed shall be a stranger in a land that is not theirs, and shall serve them; and they shall afflict them four hundred years;
14 And also that nation, whom they shall serve, will I judge: and afterward shall they come out with great substance.
