In God We Trust
9/17/2020

Daily Devotions:
by Christina Farris

Psalm 20:1-9 KJV
1 To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David. The LORD hear thee in the day of trouble; the name of the God of Jacob defend thee;
2 Send thee help from the sanctuary, and strengthen thee out of Zion;
3 Remember all thy offerings, and accept thy burnt sacrifice; Selah.
4 Grant thee according to thine own heart, and fulfil all thy counsel.
5 We will rejoice in thy salvation, and in the name of our God we will set up our banners: the LORD fulfil all thy petitions.
6 Now know I that the LORD saveth his anointed; he will hear him from his holy heaven with the saving strength of his right hand.
7 Some trust in chariots, and some in horses: but we will remember the name of the LORD our God.
8 They are brought down and fallen: but we are risen, and stand upright.
9 Save, LORD: let the king hear us when we call.

This morning I got enraged hearing the Democratic speeches on Cov-19. It got so bad that they only seem to trust in science and their own thinking. If I had not known House Democrat Pelosi was a beleiver, I would think her mindset in our nation was totally wrong. Every democrat that spoke said trust in science. I am not against science, I believe it has an important role in controlling viruses, issues that can be solved humanly by science, if God allows it, but it is not the only source I trust in this morning. In fact I trust science less then I do God. If you listen closely to all these things going on, you realize people are more scared because of the fear of our leaders. Those that are not in fear mindset, is those that either care not, or have hope placed in their faith, or their idea, or they think they are indestructable. I know my body is destructable, I sure those reading understand that they are destructable, but not without hope with faith in Christ Jesus, for we to will rise again, and live with Jesus. However those that trust only in science are running a rat maze trying to get to the cure and solution to the problem. Mindset is what will work in this crisis.

I know many of us are sick of hearing about Cov-19, including me, but I find myself typing on this issue, because of Psalm 20, That say "some trust in chariots and some in horses but we will remember the name of the Lord our God verse 7. Yet it more then this, when we declare we will remember God's name let us do so. Our political leaders don't even mention God, they running around like chickens with their heads cut off, instead of remember God first in their speech and how God can use people such as scientist, and others to come up with solutions to this crisis. Are we taking counsel of the Lord. I know I wrote about using face mask before they began to use them in public for prevention, and I am not God. It common sense if it protecting our doctors and nurses, it will help us until either God heals, and delivers, virus slows down it destructive fury, science comes up with a more reasonable solution or vaccine to aid in the spread of this virus.

As a believer I am going to trust in God in times of trouble, in times of rest, in times, of joy, in times of torment, and in times of uncertainity, and times of hope. The worse fear I see is those eyes of the elderly that seem to have lost there hope and mind set of faith. I think in reality the panic we see in our leaders to find a cure is only adding to the destructive nature of fear. Small pox was given to the Indians long before a cure was known, but what we did not know was that a cure was right in the farmers grasp of chicken pox. The solution to every problem is faith first, and then going about doing what one knows to do in a situation. Scarlet fever, small pox, tyfoid, and many other disease were handled with cleaning, and disinfecting, along with quarantine. This virus is being treated the same way. Yet the cure is being researched through a microscope to see what will kill these germs. Maybe the solution is before us and we are blind to it, because instead of saying in God we trust, we saying lets trust science. Democratics, we must trust in God and not a hypothesis first. Trust in God not a vaccine, vaccines have to be changed year to year especially the flu ones, why because germs mutate. Maybe with mutation they come in contact with a cell group that makes it less dangerous, like honey bees mixing with killer bees.

Sometimes the solution is not always the answer we seek, hypothesis will come and go but God will remain and his solution is trust in him first and foremost. The leaders of old knew how to trust in God. Knew how to pray, and how to seek God's face, besides doing what they knew how to do. David use a simple sling shot to defeat the giant, Israel marched around Jericho without questioning why not to, to destroy a city. We has believer say we going to have those singing God's praises around our country as those in the scientific world continue to search and do what they know how to do.

Those that know how to pray, pray, and give God credit by reminding our leaders, and those around us to trust in God. The very words In God we trust is written on our money, but is it money we trust in or God? That is the point of the issue, we have to learn to trust in God and not always in what we can physically see, and know to do, yet those things are often helpful.

In the days of Moses in the wilderness, things occurred when God's wrath was kindle that was unhumanly duplicated. God wrath is kindled when we do not trust in Him, why because he has the power to deliver because it is his power that is over the universe. If we going to say in God we trust and take it to the bank, let us take it to the church, to our work, to our hearts the knowledge that we must first trust in God and not science today.

Chariots were stronge armor, but not defeatable, Chariots loose wheels, and horse die, but man putting their trust in the one that is eternally the same yesterday today and forever makes more sense then trusting it an ever changing science, what worked yesterday might not work today. People prepare for what God can do when we trust in Him, and those that do not trust in God prepared for what God won't do for unbeliever that continues to mock his authority.

Dear Heavenly Father, help us know you are eternal, you have a solution to all things in our world that we can see and can not see. You know how to defeat the enemies of our world as well as the enemy of disease. Lord also send the right aid to those in flood zones, fire zones across our nation, that care for those in need at this time, for you are the comforter in the storms in life and even this pandemic, your name may it be glorified not only in heaven but on this earth, as being superior to these crisis plaguing the world. in Jesus precious name, Amen.

Continual Scripture Study: 2 Corinthians 1:9-10 KJV
9 But we had the sentence of death in ourselves, that we should not trust in ourselves, but in God which raiseth the dead:
10 Who delivered us from so great a death, and doth deliver: in whom we trust that he will yet deliver us;
