38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
39 For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.
40 And with many other words did he testify and exhort, saying, Save yourselves from this untoward generation.
41 Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls.
42 And they continued stedfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers.
43 And fear came upon every soul: and many wonders and signs were done by the apostles.
44 And all that believed were together, and had all things common;
45 And sold their possessions and goods, and parted them to all men, as every man had need.
46 And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart,
47 Praising God, and having favour with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved. Have you ever wonder why some seem not to understand who the Holy Spirit is, or that he has a place in one's heart upon salvation. Well if you look at Acts 19 in the continual scripture study this maybe one explanation. Upon salvation some people know of repentance and it simple enough, but some had never heard of Christ or the Holy Spirit. They were practicing what was taught by John the Baptist. They were practicing what they knew about believers baptism. Many evanglist go across our country, only to leave many believers with a lack of knowledge about their own faith. Now it is the believers responsibility to learn all they can about their faith and their beliefs. However we must remember in Acts 19 the Bible was not writen in the format we have today, so it was up to the apostles and missionaries to explain things to the people as they meet them. John the Baptist baptism was of repentance but John the Baptist was not God or God's only Son has Christ was, so this would need to be taught to these people. Now this is where God's Spirit intercedes in a believers life, to help them to hear truth and to speak of the things now recorded for you and I. Bible like road map, it explains things of why some do not know of Christ, and the Holy Spirit, because of not being taught and others hearing and rejecting the truth of the Gospel. What we know in ancient times is still true today, revivals break out and people hear and receive Jesus and the Holy Spirit. Many believe in God but not about salvation. There fear of death great because they never know if they were good enough to get into heaven. Yet as believer Christ we know it not by works we are saved but by grace of God.
The knowledge given to each believer is gift from God. Yet we can not all hold to the entire book of knowledge that why the gifts of the Spirit is so important and to receive him as you do Christ, with faith. Christ is salvation because death and resurrection, a symbol of the process of believer for our sin are buried with Christ death and we rise up in faith with Christ, having our sin buried for eternity upon belief. Education of faith comes with belief, and God presenting himself to you to hear the gospel of faith and about the gifts of the Holy Spirit to share God's love and word.
Believers would gather to worship God and to hear how Christ saved their soul and can save others. They gather house to house, city to city and share the Gospel. Eating together and sharing what they had to help spread the good news of Jesus and help everyone his neighbor in fellowship one with another. Today it still goes on. Signs and wonders followed teh apostles. That why it is still important to share our faith, to help others know more about Jesus, more about faith in God and more about the Holy Spirit and how God is working in one's life. Testimony very important for the believer.
Dear Heavenly Father, help us to share the gospel and educate others about God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. To teach them about the baptism of repentance, salvation through Christ Jesus., and the gifts of the Holy Spirit that is for all believers if we will believe and receive him, by faith as we do Christ and God the Father. In Jesus precious name, Amen.
Continual Scripture Study:Acts 19:1-7 KJV
1 And it came to pass, that, while Apollos was at Corinth, Paul having passed through the upper coasts came to Ephesus: and finding certain disciples,
2 He said unto them, Have ye received the Holy Ghost since ye believed? And they said unto him, We have not so much as heard whether there be any Holy Ghost.
3 And he said unto them, Unto what then were ye baptized? And they said, Unto John's baptism.
4 Then said Paul, John verily baptized with the baptism of repentance, saying unto the people, that they should believe on him which should come after him, that is, on Christ Jesus. 5 When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.
6 And when Paul had laid his hands upon them, the Holy Ghost came on them; and they spake with tongues, and prophesied.
7 And all the men were about twelve.
